my personal favorite is probably the SNES, though the original NES comes real close.

It's odd, but I feel like after a certain point graphics actually start to take away from a game, The current generation of consoles, and later games of the last generation are so far the only ones who really suffer from that, however.

Not true. The Original slims did, however that problem is fixed if you don't play movies on it.
