Where was the tea party protests before obama's presidency when taxes were higher and the state of the economy was even MORE grim.

Robert Gibbs said the White House was "amused" by the tea parties, but that "nobody out there is making $250,000 a year" as if that were somehow relevant.

President Obama said that he was "completely unaware" of the tea party protests. How can it be that the president could be "unaware" of a grass-roots protest movement of this size and scope? Doesn't he have a TV?

Yes wouldn't have been easier to just give all that money to the people to put into the economy. I didn't blame the government when I became unemployed and I don't blame them for not being able to find a job. The government can't solve economic problems, but they can make it worse.

Better cops and schools start at the LOCAL government. My city is very unfriendly to businesses, which is why it has the highest unemployment rate in the state. The issue is not Rep vs. Dem. The issue is wasteful spending on companies that should have failed due to poor management. The issue is wasting money to pay for "the losers' mortgages." Money from those who play by the rules. Most of the tea party attendees opposed Bush's $850 Billion bailout.

Living here in the States I might see your point. If I were an Iraqi citizen living under the thumb of Saddam Hussein I would disagree. How many Iraqis are better of now than four years ago. I am not turning a blind eye to Bush's out of control spending,either. The issue is taxation. We are overtaxed. 25% of our nation's wealthiest pay over 86% of our federal taxes. Congress said Bush's deficit was 500 Billion. So far, Obama has planned to spend up to 10 TRILLION.

few, if any iraqis are better off today that four years ago, or 8 years ago. poll after poll came out in the bush years showing iraqis thought they were better off under the dictator than with warring factions in their neighborhoods. Iraq had a middle class; it left. 1.5 million were forced into syria, egypt, jordan and other mideast countries, 2.7 million are internal refugees. electricity is still sketchy, clean water is still iffy.

I was against Bush's bailout in Sept 2008. As for the children of the soldiers, they will be paying more in taxes as well. Just because they are the sons and daughters of our slain men and women of uniform won't exempt them from paying higher taxes. Government has become a bloated pig, spending our (yours and mine) taxes for nearly 9,000 earmarks. Health care? Start on tort reform. More cops, better schools? Suspend the cap gains tax, higher better teachers, cirriculum reform.
