On3Thought - I think the Europeans and the Native Americans learned a lot from each other. There have been conflicts, etc. but overall both groups got along well. Unfortunately a stronger nation taking over the weaker nation's land has happened countless of times in human history. Not many times - however - the victors would make the defeated a privileged group. The way the US government dealt with the Indians - overall - is amazingly impressive (not a popular opinion since 1960s - I know).

There are some things to be ashamed of (slavery, religious persecutions, etc.), but now times are different. I think we can look at the past as simply history. Different nations/races came to your land at different times and in different ways. Your Founding Fathers decided to experiment and establish a Union and overall they succeeded (it took some time but still).

On3Thought - I think the Europeans and the Native Americans learned a lot from each other. There have been conflicts, etc. but overall both groups got along well. Unfortunately a stronger nation taking over the weaker nation's land has happened countless of times in human history. Not many times - however - the victors would make the defeated a privileged group. The way the US government dealt with the Indians - overall - is amazingly impressive (not a popular opinion since 1960s - I know).

I never said that what the European primitive people did to the Indians was right. I was just saying that there are people today who would never go back to the pre-Columbian times, because they do appreciate the blessings of civilization and progress (but of course - it is too bad that many ancestors had to die to accomplish it - actually they didn't have to die - Mormon experience in Utah shows that Whites could live in peace and harmony with the Indians).

*There is no such thing in my world view as "white supremacy". There is no question that Native Americans were able to build awesome civilizations by themselves - archeology proves it. Perhaps if they came to Europe a few centuries earlier - they would have shared their advances with the Europeans. In the case of the US - the Europeans brought civilization to the Indians. I believe that past events have a large effect on today's issues whether it be good or bad. I also disagree that Europeans brought or even intended to bring civilization to anyone they conquered.

(2)mrmonnet - I spent a few years in the US and I found it pretty silly how many Americans are so ashamed of their history. There are some things to be ashamed of (slavery, religious persecutions, etc.), but now times are different. I think we can look at the past as simply history. Different nations/races came to your land at different times and in different ways. Your Founding Fathers decided to experiment and establish a Union and overall they succeeded (it took some time but still).

Which crime is worse? Stealing a woman's purse, selling drugs and killing someone over a color? Or stealing all the company employee's 401K, bombing countries for oil, GENOCIDE, etc etc etc? Just a question. I'm not taking sides, but I always hear, the black neighborhoods have gangsters and such, but white collar crimes, committed by mostly whites are far worse, but that's just "Business".

I don't agree with your reaction to Mainestategop's comment about NYC, because - in a way - it proves his point. But even more I disagree with his comment. I loved my say in NYC. Ever since then (2002) I have been telling everyone that the negative New Yorker stereotypes are not true. I was there for about 2 weeks and I run into many nice, helpful, patient, etc. New Yorkers. What I showed on the video was an exception. Basically - they have nothing to do with New York City.

Keep in mind that the ultimate topic of their conversation was salvation - at least that's what the Mormon missionaries thought at first. The Hebrew Israelite was apparently interested in winning the argument and mocking the missionaries more than anything. To me - personally it reminded conversations between the Pharisees and the Savior (who often "held his peace").

I am commenting on the fact that this video is a direct response to the original video which depicts a black man engaging in conversation about the bible with some Mormon elders. These elders did not have any answers for him. Know what you preach. I am not saying I agree with all of what these black men are saying. I am simply saying that these Mormons cannot defend their own arguments and resort to propaganda BS to debunk the arguments posed against them.

I totally agree. I haven't had a chance to learn more about them, but I wonder if they accept the New Testament as scripture. It seems that Jesus and the apostles did emphasize that any person who accepts Jesus becomes a citizen of the Lord's Kingdom ("There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."-Galatians 3:28)

But herin lies the problem. Why would El-Yisra'el make clear that Adom-Yisra'el than Adom-HaGoyim were to be preached to (Romans 1:16, 11:1-24), even though we who are Yehudim are no better (Deuteronomy 9:4-21, Romans 1:18-3:10)? I think that Talmid Paul is just saying that salvation isn't for only Yisra'el or only for the goyim.

The truth is - all people are people - we come from the same parents (Adam and Eve). We have a potential to become like Jesus and be as happy as He is or - to follow the devil and became as miserable as he is. We are free to choose - all of us - White, Blacks, Americans, Polish, etc.

Yes they quote only half of it as I said in many threads, ones that benefit their beliefs and leave out ALOT when speaking of the bible. Hi RellyOhBoy, I am not an American, although I am an Edomite (as you call us). Most of my ancestors were slaves to the Germans or Russians (we are still called "Slavs") and most of the time we didn't still anybody's land (probably because we were not as strong as our neighbors). Joseph Smith was a great example of a Christian. He, his family and his friends were persecuted, tortured and killed, yet he demonstrated great love, called his people to forgive and pray for their enemies.
Some of his biggest problems were caused by his firm stand against slavery (Mormons' expulsion from Missouri).
As one of very few 19th C. Christian leaders he emphasized that ALL people are God's children and cultural differences between races are only caused by their past experiences.

One of Joseph Smith's closest friend was a Black man.
"Did Smith allow Blacks to join the LSD church?" - of course he did! There were Black members who suffered a lot in the early years of the LDS Church because of their firm conviction that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.
LDS Church was the first church in the US that didn't have separate congregations for Blacks and Whites.

It has often been a case that God would command His people things that were controversial (the Bible is full of such cases). For example - in New Testament times Jesus forbade His apostles to share the gospel with anyone who wasn't an Israelite. Why? No idea, but He did.
It is true that some of our prophets did set some rules that would now be considered politically incorrect - not allowing the Black people to be leaders of congregations is an example. But who are we to question the Lord?...

Read LDS Church history (not by Anti-Mormons but by scholars) to see that the Mormons were the least racist of all Christians in the US (ex. Utah was one of few states where the KKK freaks just couldn't set their organization because of lack of interest)...
