thats because its not suposed to be viewed as a remake, but a re-interpritation, i read that in a review it said that if you view it as a re-make then it will be a disapointment but if you view it as a re-interpritation then the story shines through. plus i never saw the origional and i thourght it was fab so i guess people watching it for the first time will like it aswell.

My thoughts exactly. I saw the orig @ 10 yrs ago. There was a lot of implied cold war spying going on, and real danger because in the orig you felt like they didn't mind killing him. The remake was also sooooo convoluted that if the bad plot didn't get you, the confusion would. I noticed some have given you a thumbs down but I think you're spot on.
