I have had a Mini Plex MKII for a year. Simple controls & loads of tones. The Decade switch = 3 distinct sonic signatures. The "Power" knob controls power scaling.
Attenuators kill high frequencies. A master volume provides preamp distortion but no power amp distortion. Power scaling allows power amp distortion at low volume.
Want more? Unplug amp, remove a power tube, insert alternative tube
This amp is outstanding & more than any 1 Marshall. Save & buy one. You will be glad that you did
I love this thing and must have one. I have an Orange Tiny Terror Hardwired. Fantastic amp, hellish loud for only 15 watts. How does the tone and loudness compare to the mini plexi, if you have any idea? Thanx, Glen
Wow, what a tone! Love this thing from head to toe. Can these heads switch between US/European voltage by default? Congrats on building this wonderful amp. You're a real genius!
My only question would be (and Im sure Im not alone) could you please make a demo with a strat and when in full gain mode roll off the volume of the guitar so we can hear the amp clean up . Once establing that aspect of the amp yopu will trigger off many sales of your product. This type of boutique amp attracts players looking to do it all at the guitar without effects. Filt tilt she sounds great, what doe it sound like volume rolled off the guitar?
Ruffles I use Humbuckers as well, many times in single mode. Its my personal preference and just asked the gentlman who posted the video for additional info if possible. I found your "princess" comment offending and unwarrented. For a 28 year old who loves Jesus that sounded awfully like a 14 year old metal head bedroom wanker comment. There is no problem, just let people ask their questions without feeling the need to make insulting remarks out of the blue.
The demo ist great, but you should listen to the amp in reality! I have the combo version with a Celestion G12H Anniversary speaker. The sound is unbelievable. My band mates asked me: "Is this really just 12 watts?" The combo can be really loud and the sound quality is absolutely top-notch. I have never heard a real Marshall sound so good like a vintage Marshall with higher gain options. The most difficult part is to decide for one of the three decade options. All three decades sound terrific!
i like it. at first i thoughtitwas expensive, but now i saw that other guys sell "mini" plexis with only half the features for the same price... so i think differently now.. espeially with that sound
I think the amp sounds great but I couldnt reference the guitars tone. I wish this demo would have been done with aLes Paul and a Strat so we could reference what we are hearing.
The new 30 watt "Mighty Plex" will be released in the next few weeks...all the same features as the Mini but with 30 watts of 2 x EL34 power for those who need stage volume....
amazing bite AND clarity from that lil sucker...at least as good as a suhr badger.. i'd love to try suhr's 30w el34 version.. but now i can't ignore fargen
I think the Mini Plex has it over the Badger both tone wise and in versatility. The Badger has an effects loop which is cool, but that's the only advantage as far as I can tell.
I recently called Fargen Amps with a few questions and was greeted by a real nice lady on the phone. She relayed messages between Ben and I as he was working on an amp. I was treated like a human opposed to a number. I could hear in Ben's voice that he truly loves what he does.
Ben, love the tones of that amp! Stunning! I know this is subjective, but would you say it cleans up well enough to get cleans at stage volume for a medium loud band (again subjective I know!)? I have a Marshall 18 watt clone that is great, but with an SG using PAF style humbuckers it is pretty much always slightly overdriven at the least when playing with a drummer. Thanks!
I have the MKI MP and I love it, wouldn't mind grabbing the MKII for kicks. The new features look great and I can see how the power scaling would be handy.
I sure do wish that every amp company would use power scaling. It seems like the new paradigm. Awesome amp. Put the power scaling on the Olde 800, and I'll buy!
Please note!....All Fargen amplifier models can now be ordered with power scaling including the OLDE 800...we are no also retro-fitting late model Fargens with power scaling as well....contact us via our web site or phone 916-971-4992

power scale rules, i guess marshall is copying this technology to get their power attenuator work on the new slash signature model AFD 100......

@guitarlordification
Hi VOS moded is no longer on the new version of this amp...yes...the Fargen Olde 800 MKII is the big brother to the mini plex MKII.
Cheers,

I'd say that most people use humbucker guitars so whats the problem.... And you have very specific standards princess.

Bottom line, power sat. allows the tubes to stay in the sweet spots at any volume, no matter how low.
steveracer16 3 years ago
so do the circuits of the no-master-volume amps (JTmM45, Plexi) have an added master volume?
spawnofwheezedog 3 years ago
Of course it's gonna sound better in the intro music, it wasn't recorded with a camera mic there.
Can't wait for my MKII!!!! Any day now I hope.
cardinalofcrunk 3 years ago
Whoa! Nice tone. Is the same amp producing the intro tune thru 18 secs? Intro sounds a little ballsier. Pedal enhanced perhaps? Going to your website
