@camcamey Not so although maybe. It is the stem butt you want to culture. alternatively take a spore print by using say some black construction paper. Place the shroom down so gills are on paper/ dry. Scape spores with a knife or some such. Soak some clean cardboard in water & innoculate it. If molds don't beat out spores you will start seeing white dots appear like seeds hatching. After this it will grow quickly when it is nice & going, place in grounds paper egg cartons so forth.
thank you for the great video. you are right about oysters liking to eat everything. we threw an apple pie in our 5 gallon bucket once, and the mycelium completely devoured it.
@zanpakutogr No it smells very sweet as oyster mycelium does anyway but actually makes grounds smell even sweeter. If it smells then you would have a bacteria or mold condition. Mycelium does not smell moldy! If it ever did toss it outside!
No, they are gourmet not magical silly. I only have subscriptions to channels featuring magic shrooms for the spore knowledge. I believe in a drug free way of life. All shrooms have huge benefit for the environment devouring toxins, making the earth to grow. Poor countries can use this method to produce food, medicines & help environment.
I now keep fly paper in my room at all times as a precaution, just make sure it is out of reach, IE: a/c vent.
Fungus gnats are best prevented by taking precautions the entire time you mess with anything organic (food, leaves, coffee, soil, etc). I recommend yellow fly paper because it isn't scented and lasts for many months. It also lets you see if the population is rising or falling by the frequency of flies landing on it.
I have learned the worst is bringing in a favorite plant from outdoors, all sort of bad guys come in! The blue stick on window type also works well but not in winter. I stick it in a lower corner of south window. I also get problems with fruit flys during canning time & fall bring in everything. They feast on toilet & man are they fast.
Eh original Skooby! Long time you no see. Have a look at my plug log update, that is where I got these stem butts. I put four in seperated as they smell each other. You can transport most shrooms this way. If you have some in bush put shroom into a paper bag the spores will also fall. Eat shroom cut butt up & spread into the soaked bag cover with wet cardboard, keep moist. It is a good idea to wash shrooms in 1 gal fresh water, add 1 tsp aquarium salt & 1/4cup of mollases. Stand 1-2 days
so if i just put oyster mushrooms in coffe grounds it start to grow and such PLEASE REPLY!!!!

Nice video. Does the culture smell with all that mycelium?

Thanks for the answer! That's quite an encouragement. When I get more space I'll try it.

I LOVE your website. Thanks so much for making this so simple - I think it was you who gave me the idea of growing on coffee grounds. So simple!

I hate fungus gnats.
They eat pretty much ANYTHING that is organic.

I'd love to see one of these in full bloom. I've wanted to do this for a while.

Next pour into proper area for that type of shroom. I'll do an update when these above bloom.
