i believe its 80% meaty bones...and 20% organs. Or if you follow the barf diet, it consist of 60 percent meat 15 percent organ and 25 percent fruits and vegetables (not too sure on this one).

My dog just pulled the same thing with me!!-6 years old and decided that she wont eat kibble anymore...starved herself for 2 days & had no problem eating some raw chicken meat!!... For her hea;th i am switching her over to a raw prey-model style diet.

I seriously doubt a dog would go 4 days without eating unless it was sick. An otherwise healthy dog would eat rocks after not eating for 4 days. I've always adopted shelter and rescue dogs over the years. When any one dog was used to eating canned (wet) food, I would gradually make the changeover to dry kibble. Some gave me a hard time but eventually came around and would chow down at mealtimes.

It's great that your switching to the raw diet, but have you researched about it? Dogs need not only meat in their diet, but bones and organs. It should be like this: 80% meat, 10% organ (liver, heart, etc.) and 10% bone. Dogs need that in their diet in order for them to recieve all the right nutrients. If you haven't already, please read about the raw prey-model diet.

I agree you have a very smart dog, I am glad to see you feeding raw. Commercial dog food is horrible for dogs, from feces to euthanized dogs and cats. Yep that's right, they put dogs in dog food. I am doing the prey model diet and its the best way to go. And how in the world would raw feeding cause a dog to turn on people? if that were true then how did people get dogs in the first place.

@bayislove certain RAW food companies have a freeze dried version. when mixed with water it acts as RAW. Many people bring it for camping or have it as back up if power is lost. My dog loves the Stella and Chewy company. Also Nature Variety makes freeze dried.

@bayislove if someone is dogsitting all you do is give them your dogs food frozen in ziplock baggie portions for each feeding. all they would have to do is let it thaw and set it before the dog nothing complicated at all :) Most people have set feeding times for their dog I don't know anyone who carries kibble with them everywhere.
