problems for the L96: 1.if there is an attached scope, you cannot draw up the bolt all the way, making it impossible to draw back for another chamber. 2.for those that draw up, back, down, up, forward, down (put the bolt down when drawn back), there is a pin that will fall out that enables it to move down. when removed, the bolt cannot go down, making the gun utterly useless.

i recommend the Bravo BV7 sniper. it was designed to compete with the L96.

Matrix released their own version of the L96 with an upgraded spring, spring guide, and piston. It does not come with a scope and cost $150. Despite this, it is better than any the Wells or UTG sniper rifles. The Matrix is spring with an easy pullback. It has a polymer body and metal barrel and internals, making it weigh 10lbs. It is available in tan, OD green, and black. You can get it at evike and I highly recomend it.

@griffin22able If anything you should get the spring. But if the gas is more fps, or has more people saying to get it or is more of what your looking for, don't be afraid to buy it. The only problem I have with gas, is that you have to keep buying the gas. I hope this helped.

G700 is the best sniper rifle on the market. 1. Power, 2. Accuracy, 3. Portability. I have an L96, and you cannot move to save your life because it is so cumbersome. Too long, too heavy, too hard to find aftermarket upgrade parts. G700, that is all.

@RepetitiveHistory That is a $260-275 gun. This is cheaper and the bolt is much nicer on this rifle. I guess your the guy who likes to run around quickscoping like your video games though, it is a little bigger yes but the grip is flawless.

@corvettedog There's a difference between "running around quickscoping" and being able to run around at all. The L96 I have is 12 pounds with the scope and bi-pod, and the VSR-10 I have is about 5 pounds. Same job, similar performance, much increased mobility. The VSR-10 is a shorter gun, but that has nothing to do with accuracy. Ahwn you're a sniper, you need accuracy, range, and mobility. If L96s didn't weigh 12 pounds, I would definitely use one over a VSR-10. It's a dealbreaker for me.

Also your sear set is a 45 degree sear set which will eventually fail while my tanaka wont ever break from a high fps stress spring, also I can shoot anywhere from 200-800 fps and i can pull my bolt back while prone with my pinky. All of your parts are made in japan. Your gun does not get 110 yard torso shots in high wind, yours gets maybe 250 feet accurately. Plus, when i was talking about upgrade, I was talking about installing them yourself and understanding how your gun works, rather than using mommy's money to pay someone.

I have dissassembled and reassembled my rifle plenty of times, including the hop up system. I have fixed a previous L96 and I dissassemled and reassembled that too.
