  • the tempo is actually perfect, if not a bit too slow actually. The original piece by Mozart is supposed to be around a 200 BPM. So, incfact, those of you whining about the too fast tempo are actually opposite!

  • I was smiling broadly throughout this. This is a wonderful little known symphony of the 12 year old Mozart, and it is played with such expression by these youngsters. Thank you for making my day with your performance of this music. I have always loved the odd modulations in the recap starting at 4:00.

  • Yes, I think that the kids could identify with the music more when they were told that it was composed by someone that was their age.

  • wow. our HIGHSCHOOL orchestra probably couldn't handle a piece like that. they played very well, good dynamics and expression. and FOUR BASSES! for a middle school that is quite a few! ( i am our HS's ONLY string bass player)

  • Makes my school's orchestra look like crap xD Wonderfully played :)

  • wow nice :_ really good :)

  • Our orchestra is doing this song and man to we sound like@#!$ compared to this!!!

  • our school band's better (I play The TUBA) It plays really well with classical

  • amazing for 7th grade!

  • we're playing this in our 7th grade orchestra. so much fun!

  • Add for Mozart Symphony No. 12 2nd movment with repeat 2 time! REMEMBER THIS!

  • Wow that is amazing for 7th grade.

  • I see a big space where the violas should be? :(

  • that's pretty good (intonation wise) for a seventh grade orchestra.

  • Nicely played (: Can I ask.. how many cellist are playing in this video?

  • There were 18 cellos in the 7th grade orchestra that year.

  • that's... amazing. can we have some? :D

  • @rdhobby Damn, we got 3 in our class and 3 bassists... The rest are violins and violas... we're highly outnumbered. I think it's a class of about 25...

  • to bad this is only string instruments

  • what is his teaching method?!? WHAT EVER IT IS it works

  • I enjoyed it very much. Their performance moved me more than it technically sounds. Keep it going. - Great music.

  • we just played this song for our 8th grade district &nd the tempo is so much slower than this

also the dynamics change in places there not supposed too. it sounded pretty good &nd all but its not mozart. its completely changed around.

idk i just like it slower. its sounds purer like mozart intended it to be. :/

but overall i mean good job; we would have NEVER made it through that in 7th grade :)

  • This is Mozart ! The tempo here is the way it should be performed... It's perfectly done..

You're entitled to your own opinion/preference but you have no right to say this isn't Mozart...This is the original tempo.

  • uhm ok, watever dude.

  • I can't play the sixteenths.....

  • our school's stringed orchestra is playing this

and we all play at a very high level. We have students that have been asked to join our local symphony but i have to say this is nearly as good as ours.

  • And these are all only 7th graders ;-)

  • i know!!!

    thats crazy!!

  • so? i played that song in 7th grade, it really isnt very hard, but then again all i had to do were eigth notes since i play viola

  • i think their playing was fantastic. it's just the conductor that conducted too fast. our school played this piece at a bit slower tempo, but we played nowhere as good as this orchestra xP

  • strange how human opinions can diverge that much: i just listened to it and it sounds pretty fine. the tempo in particular is very pleasant and there's no speeding up at all, like s.one says and would like to convince us

  • i relistined to this and decided it sucks even worse. Lol what are supposed to be eigth notes are more like 16th notes, 16 notes sound like someone playing fiddle

  • I don't think you had a different version of the music than I do, since mine is from Ludwig Publishing Co. and most people get their Mozart from them, so I have a few things to point out.

First, stacatto and legato. Learn the symbols, learn the difference.

Second, your second violin section. PLAY OUT!!! Trust me, you're not as terrible as most seconds seem to think they are.

And the basses need to play out, too. I could barely hear them!

  • WOW freaking 7th graders! thats Really good!

  • GREAT JOB, There is hope for our Young muscians with teachers like you

  • long live mozart

  • I agree with many of the comments that dundermifflin made but i made for age grou omg u were so good!

  • Considering that this was a group made up of 7th Graders, the performance was astounding. Of course there were some tuning and technical problems and of course there are groups that could do better, but you're not going to find a group this young that can play that extraordinarily well. Great job!!

  • What an idiot of a conductor. He increased the tempo. You never screw with Mozart unless you are someone like yo-yo ma. Very disappointed to see this. Below average by far... Seventh grade can do better. Messed up the ending big time. Disappointment by far. Great try though. Never increase tempo, change notes, change dynamics, especially some one great like Mozart, Bach, or beet oven, two stars for me.

  • I agree wholeheartedly. Too fast, and he changed up the dynamics beyond recognition. And like I said in my comment, stacatto and legato. They screwed that up, as well.

  • asians always own 1st chair

  • Not always. In the orchestra I'm in, our first chair is a white girl with no asian heredity whatsoever. Actually, she's Irish and German. We don't have any asains in our orchestra besides me, and I'm only 30% Japanese.

  • wow! not even the seniors i know could match that! age group wise that was amazing! blew me out of the water!

  • Wow, they did really good. ^^

My 8th grade orchestra is going to play

that same song lol, but for 7th graders

    they we're great. :)

  • we're playing this, only our conductor changed the tune a bit. I love this song and it makes me happy hearing a really good orchestra playing it! Good Job!

  • Wonderful.

  • PLenty of violins, cellos, not enough viola players though i think some people may need to switch

  • come on guys. these are seventh grade kids and you're worrying about them not being "professional". Anyway, I thi kit's great!

  • we took this to festival in seventh grade at my school, and recieved all superior ratings. it is a nice tune. This orchestra is alright, but they sound unprofessional, particularly on the 32nd notes. The articulation was decent, intonation also fairly good, but not anything to write home about. Nice for a normal seventh grade orchestra, tohugh.

  • normal 7th graders??? i think they are betr than "normal" cuz like "normal" wud be like all of the back of 2nd violins...but ya...its stil good...i went to this concert....but its kinda weird how u r like going into detail about EVERYTHIN!!! lol..

  • that is nice, but the sound is not professional:( i miss real Mozart... this is learning material

  • wow...like NEone rely cares about professional ( for u kno this age group)..but stil ur cool.... ( ; cuz im in this orchestra this year....but like this was a year b4 me!!!.

  • Man, these seventh graders are like 20 times better than I am. ;.; So sad.

  • ooo! im that one kid in the white t-shirt!!!

  • lol our orchestra is playing this song- but we SUCK

  • its very uneven too

theres like 40 violins and 5 violas 12 cellos and one bass

  • soo who cares!?!? at least they would do betr than ur orchestra!!

  • These kids really make Mozart come to life. :) I wish them all the best of luck in music!

  • hehe i'm in here...

  • lol me too

  • NO band or orchestra is ever perfect dude........

  • i agree! :D

  • These guys are good but my orchestra kicks their ass. We are pefect and weve only practice like 5 times maybe if i get a vid of us ill post it

  • Very good for seventh graders, in especial their dynamic range. However, some parts, such as the beginning of the song could use refinement; they sound a bit muddy. Not to mention a few of the violins were a bit out of tune. Other than that, they were very good.

  • o and how do u know all of this?

  • hes the one that posted it...and like his child plays in the orchestra..mr moreno is AWSUM!

  • o and whose their teacher?

  • Their teacher is Angelo Moreno. You can find out more from the orchestra web site in the video description.

  • omfg these are 7th graders?

  • Yep, 7th graders. This was at the end of the school year. At the beginning they didn't quite sound like this ;-) A lot of credit goes to their teacher. Then they move on to the Jr High Advanced Orchestra for 8th and 9th grades (video of the Advanced Orchestra are posted as well)

  • thanx

  • Very nice for a high school orchestra.

  • Actually they are 7th graders.

  • good enough as a high school orchestra i guess

  • lmao the guy with the stick is goin mental!! dont anger him

  • the 'GUY WITH THE STICK'????????

    does no one understand orchestra?

    it's called a conductor!!!

  • Wow.

    is something called

    CONDUCTER!

  • Unfortantely this is just about the only "classical" music the majority of the audience members (as well as the students) will ever hear.

No wonder the majority of the listening public out there dislike "classical" music!
