It's still unclear whether or not he has an unfair advantage. On one side, he does have less mass, however, with the loss of his lower legs, he loses his calf muscles. these muscles return both stored elastic energy and energy generate through contraction on each toe-off. The blades return 80-90% of the stored energy. So although he has slightly less mass, he must both coordinate his balance while producing rediculously high power from his hips since he doesn't have the power from his calves

he was not allowed to compete in the regular Olympics because his blades have more spring off the ground than regular legs. im not sure exactly how to explain it, but the point is that yes, he does have an advantage. i hate to be a complete dick too

No matter if he have a advantage or not he still WOULD NOT be able to compete with the best. He ran a 11.1 Which would not have even placed in the 100m finals of the Olympics. The people probably didnt want to hurt his feelings or something maybe IDK, but i have to give it to him he still can run fast with what he has!!! I respect that!!!!

Actually, he appealed the IAAF decision regarding his eligibility to compete in the normal Olympics, and they reversed their decision, allowing him the chance to compete. However, Pistorius was unable to qualify for anything in the normal Olympics, and as such he will have to wait until 2012 before trying again.

@89chevyss i'm curious as to why you believe they're lighter. ossur c-legs (the legs oscar uses are 20% heavier than anatomical legs). he's also lost a shitload of his quadriceps strength due to the amputation, so this makes it a lot harder for him to move his legs faster.
