  • love this make me cry ever time never to be beat ever xxx

  • the inner light was by far the best episode in their entire star trek tng series

  • What is the name of the song Picard plays on the flute?

  • @sweiland75 The Inner Light.

  • I love this episode its lovely and warm and COULD have been picard's future wife if he hadn't been such a snobby captain lol

  • This is the best episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

  • please lose the spanish subtitles. who wants to see that gobblety gook!

  • @mojohelmet - The subtitles are not in spanish, but portuguese !! It was meant for that brazilians could watch it, and the subtitles will go on. Thanks !

  • @mojohelmet typical racist American

  • @mojohelmet WOW you fail hard, last time I checked Star Trek was about peace and tolerance.

  • Love this eps of star Trek my fav of all time I would love to learn this tune on the flute to play thanks for posting :))

  • made me cry :(

  • @sendvic12 Shit, you and me both...

  • listen if anyone hates this get a life sad i love it best ever star trek ever xxxxxx

  • anyone else notice that in the eppisode "The Inner Light", Picard's wife is called "Neela" and in this episode "Lessons" his love interest is called "Nella", two very similar names.

  • @startrekfreak900 Actually the name of Picard's "wife" in The Inner Light is Eileen, NOT Neela.... I should know as many times as I've watched The Inner Light!

  • thats why i love TNG

  • still brings tears to my eyes everytime.....

  • @NoFNclue

    :) i know the feeling

  • You should have left a couple of seconds more to let the audience actually see what was the reason for music to stop :D Rated PEGI13 for explicit depiction of kissing between a captain and one of his science officers :D

  • Neela rolls out the piano on the floor and it's not flat. When she goes to play, the piano is solid and up on legs.

  • @shylifter Listen carefully, you hear her "click" the legs into place.

  • when i listen to the music i see a bunch of indians on horse back riding round

  • Moonlight Sonota they make it sound very well.

  • The music what Nella plays at 0:46 is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

  • What's the engineer behind Geordi looking for on the ground? :P

  • Geordi can hear better than an android lol

  • @CCTV9 Data wasn't even in the same room before the music stopped. Geordi only seemed to have heard better than his human collegues but then he IS blind, which is supposed to enhance the other sences...

  • Does anyone but me think that that would be a horrible way to actually play a Keyboard? I mean on your knees with it not raised at all would just be impossible to actually do a good job with.

  • i would give my left nut for that flute

  • Rubbish bit of acting by the extra at 3:02!

  • awwww you cut it before the kiss, haha i thought thats where this scene was going when you showed the Laforge and Data. oh well awesome scene regardless.

  • This has always been a favorite scene... I'm glad I found it. The slightly altered arrangement of the Inner Light melody was always more preferable to me. I've gotten used to the original over time, but still - I remember this scene and episode more.

  • One of the best scenes on the show.

  • If I have one complaint it's that the video stopped before Picard got his game on!

  • the peice of music sounds almost like they took the Skye Boat Song (over the sea to skye) and reworked it to make it sound new... or am I just insane

  • if anyone is interested the song itself is an excerpt from a piece called scottish fantasy!

  • I loved how Picard had a thing for redheads. :P Second best song in the entire series, second only to Inner Light.

  • @paradoxdreamer5

They are one in the same. The first time he played it though, in that episode...it was like everything around me stopped.

    amazing episode.

  • Yeah, I know, I've got the entire series on DVD. I love how in the Inner Light episode, if you click on it through episode selection, you can hear it playing. Also, I heard a full orchestral version online. As morbid as it may sound, I want the Inner Light song playing at my funeral, for to me it is a reflection of all the events, the people, the places, everything in how a single life can touch so many. Truly emotionally powerful for me.

  • I just watched THE INNER LIGHT again, I shared it with my girlfriend...she enjoyed it as well. Ive heard the orchestral verson as well, 6 minutes of wonderful huh :)

I can see that song for a funeral, even a wedding... its going on the ipod :D

  • @Time4YouRealityCheck This is the song I'm using at my wedding to walk down the aisle to. I figured since we're having a Star Trek themed wedding is was THE best music for that moment :D

  • great pick my friend :) all the best to you and your bride to be...

  • @Boudica1979 Star Trek themed wedding? Aaaaa....mazing. 10 bonus pts.

  • Indeed, it makes me cry too. Wish I would be Onboard of this wonderful spaceship :(

    Awesome!!!

  • That's so huge of Picard to share that with her... think about it....

  • This song is soooo beautiful I always cry when I hear this song. Thank you for the upload.

  • Her Piano is quite cool ... :D

  • i wanted to see the light within

that other life that i had lived

but memories are all that remain

inside them that life is sustained

  • whats the name of the sonh that she plays at 0:46?

  • This is the "Moonlight Sonata" of Beethoven. =))

  • thanks

  • you´re welcome ^-^

  • @DarthShinzon It is the Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.

  • Notice the PIANO stopped before the FLUTE so she made the first move.

  • ...and the last note on the flute tailed off ever so slightly as Picard figured out what was about to transpire.

  • This is my favorite version of this song. I wish I could find a full version with piano accompany

  • It's such a beautiful and memorable melody, and it holds something very precious and lasting at its heart - it really touched me, I cried

  • I will never understand why it is that from this scene many people can derive only carnal lustful thoughts. This sort of moment is what I have wanted in my own life for some time now. A moment where two individuals use their music as an extension or catalyst of their love. This may strike you as corny, but I believe that it is a scene of the purest beauty.

  • She's gotta be brilliant to transcribe, transpose and improvise on the fly...

  • Love the music and tender nature of this episode tying it to my favorite one from the inner light.

  • I too. This episode is one of my favorites. I absolutely love the way that Neela and Captain Picard get along so perfectly in this episode. And I absolutely love the playing of the music in this section of the ship. I almost found it hilarious that Geordi began looking around for the music.. but it stopped on him before he could locate it. And then Data walks in on him and is puzzled by Geordi's assertion about the music.

  • Anyone spotted the cutting error? She rolls teh piano out on the floor but when the camera pulls away when they're both playing, its on a stand, where did that come from?

  • I had noticed that too. I was like, wait a sec... where did that come from? =/

  • You can hear things being clicked into place and buttons being pressed when Picard is naming the Jefferies Tube. I'm assuming she is deploying some 24th Century in built stand

  • I noticed and ignored it. Sometimes suspension of disbelief is required, especially in this scene. The music too beautiful to be spoiled by such a distraction.

  • hahahaha

  • Boudica1979

Perhaps the piano has a holo projector to create the stand?????

  • if u notice when she plays Beethoven she's already playing on the stand, i assume when the camera was showing picard tell where they are she was probably installing the stand.

  • Love Geordie's comment at 3:19 "I hear music" An extra minute or so of the Enterprise straking through space with the music would have been wonderful, shame we didnt get it

  • Moonlight sonata... nice

  • They really should've extended this scene for a good 5 minutes with some beauty shots of the Enterprise sailing through space to Nela and Picard playing this.

  • Agree totally with that!

  • Sadly, they only had 44 minutes or so of content to work with and they had a story to tell...perhaps they could've talked the commercial advertisers into paying them for a musical interlude?

  • The combination of piano and the Ressikan flute is just the greatest song ever performed. At the end, Picard and Neela should of performed a concert with that song.

  • I think the song is too personal to Captain Picard to play it in a concert. Neela is the only person to hear it as far as I can remember.

  • What they should have performed was Neela trilling on Picard's skinflute and Picard engaging Neela The Furburger Sonata in P-blunt.

  • a real gem

  • Picard's best date ever...

  • I always wanted to put the wood to this MILF.

  • ill get the views up to over 12k =)

  • I wish they had this somewhere I want it

    ;-(

  • Absolutely beautiful, Picard is a superb character

  • Thank you for this. I hadn't seen this episode. Love the tune- starts off like 'Speed, bonny boat.... ', the Skye Boat Song. I'm going to learn it on my whistle. Thanks again.

  • This is one of Next Generations most moving episodes to Inner Light.

    Wolfe

  • What is the name of the piano peice that the woman, I think Neela, plays?

  • Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata

  • in picards flute solo, you can really feel the sailors lineage from the galleon on the seas through to the enterprise in the final frontier. A gem in the TNG that makes the futuristic world so much more real and relatable.

  • Yeah, I totally got teary during this scene because you know how much this song means to Picard, and then when she starts playing the piano you can see that it touches him to hear it.

  • Funny, I seem to be tying this song into FF7 for some reason. However this is my one of my favorite episodes.

  • Thanks for posting, but the resolution is cut off! You didn't show the kiss!

  • one of the few TNG episodes that moved me to tears. This scene is a standout moment.

  • I agree, this and the linked episode where Picard lived his life in stasis of the probe has to bee my most favorite episodes. I love the music they've written for this, and how it geniously ties in with his experience.

  • right there with ya :)

  • Is this music on any cd u can buy or download on intunes, picards flute with neelas piano

  • Its funny, When the writers wrote in the the "paper thin" piano. they thought it would really be an invention in the future during the starship era. but now we do have pianos that are that thin and do fold up just like the one in the video.

  • Truly one of the best scenes from TNG, and that says a lot.

And the music piece from inner light with the piano is absolutely beautiful.

  • tnx jeffrey :)

  • can someone tell me what the name of the piano song she begins playing is ?

  • "Moonlight' Sonata: Adagio Sostenuto Ludwig van Beethoven

hope you like it i do it helps me think at times

  • To me, this is the best scene from all the Star Trek series.

It shows that even in the future, where technolgy has taken over, music can still touch people's souls.

  • @themadrasser in ST technology did not take over. The replicator, warp drive, transporter etc. are just tools and never abused by the main characters even though they could be horrific weapons. That's one of many reasons why the ST universe is so much better than the real world where almost every single major invention has been used for destructive purposes

  • nella looks a lot like Beverly Crusher, weird. lol

  • i think nella is quite pretty

its a shame that she and captain don't have anymore story afetr this episode

  • The subtitles ruin it.

  • Comment removed

  • can someone tell me what the name of the piano song she begins playing is ?

  • Piano Sonata No. 14 "Quasi una fantasiain" C-sharp minor popularly known as Moonlight Sonata

  • Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor "Quasi una fantasia", Op. 27, No. 2

    Popularly known as Moonlight Sonata

  • This Song always touches my heart again, when I hear it. Thanks for uploading this Scene!

  • Awesome Ep.

  • They left out the part where that sassy, busty MILF gives Jean Luc a lesson in the joys of the skin flute.

  • Everyone knows that Jean Luc could not keep his greasy paws off that MILF queen.

  • SIMPLISMENTE MARAVILHOSO

  • Always moves me to tears

  • thanks for this mate looked everyware great song
