Eh, some Buddhists are bad apples. I don't think there are any qualms against that. It wouldn't surprise me if even an organization like the Dalai Lama's camp were abusing power because they have just that...power. Power can corrupt and warp regardless of title or faith. Buddhism can be used as weapon, just like any religion and people should not rush to have label without knowing some history. I know that Buddhism has spawned some atrocities in the past but to allow the past to haunt the future and make others turn away from something that, in it's essence, is meaningful would be negative overall. I disagree with 90% of your assertions. True, buddhism is patriachical, but so is Catholicism, Islam, Taoism, and Protestantism. Islam came after Buddhism, there is no way ancient Buddhist scripts prescribe eradicating Islam. Buddhism is so tolerant that in many areas, it has fused with Hinduism, Confucianism and Taoism. Much of Central Asia was predominantly buddhist until 1000 year ago, and today, many of the "-stans" are predominantly Islamic. Do study buddhism more before passing judgement.

I've investigated Tibetan Buddhism and was an active member of a local group. As my investigations progressed so did my unease, after 6 months I had a clear enough view of the shadow side of Tibet to walk away from it.

I just checked it. According to the Nobel Prize website's official records, he was given the prize in 1989 for the reason stated above. There is no mention of Kalachakra, or of him giving the empowerment.

There are good and bad teachings in any religions. If you only look into the good side and do not research on the bad side, then you are just as blind as any other brainwashed cults around the world. Eh, some Buddhists are bad apples. I don't think there are any qualms against that. It wouldn't surprise me if even an organization like the Dalai Lama's camp were abusing power because they have just that...power. Power can corrupt and warp regardless of title or faith. This is all coming from a devout Buddhist, by the way. I'm sure plenty of Tibetan yogis are legitimate practitioners, though.

Buddhism can be used as weapon, just like any religion and people should not rush to have label without knowing some history. I know that Buddhism has spawned some atrocities in the past but to allow the past to haunt the future and make others turn away from something that, in it's essence, is meaningful would be negative overall. I do have to wonder about the llamas though, especially in this age. If they are truly Buddhist then they shouldn't be "attaching or grasping" for unnecessary things.

I disagree with 90% of your assertions. True, buddhism is patriachical, but so is Catholicism, Islam, Taoism, and Protestantism. Islam came after Buddhism, there is no way ancient Buddhist scripts prescribe eradicating Islam. Buddhism is so tolerant that in many areas, it has fused with Hinduism, Confucianism and Taoism. Much of Central Asia was predominantly buddhist until 1000 year ago, and today, many of the "-stans" are predominantly Islamic. Do study buddhism more before passing judgement.

Sarcasm aside, you do have one thing right, buddhists are human like everybody else. They do not represent perfection, but someone who is struggling to reach it. This is very interesting. I would never expect any buddist group to be capable of this, Buddism is typically associated with peace, passivity and acceptance of other religeons and groups. I think this would be another corruption of a religeon like with every other religeon, apparently buddism isnt imune to it. Buddism is especially susceptable to corruption because it was very liberal and tolerant so it could be fused with Shinto and Taoism

First, you are speaking of Tantra sometimes called self-secret because those who try to read it without proper guidance and foundational qualities such as great compassion etc. will misunderstand it. I admittedly lack information, but I have some reservations regarding the assertions about a militant element in Tibetan Buddhism, largely because we just don't see any evidence of it in the behavior of Tibet. The discussion of the pegging of the ley line was interesting, and if true ties in well with the historical suppression of feminine influence within religious traditions. I agree with Khangsgar88 - the real Panchen Lama was abducted by the Chinese, and he was replaced with an impostor.

I'll have to admit, I've seen some very rich tibetans whom were in 'charge' of receiving donations from abroad, and drove around in very expensive luxury cars. Not all tibetans get the money though. It's those smart enough, or you might say, cunning enough to form 'tibetan foundations' that are doing very very well financially.

Also, the Dalai Lama did not receive the Nobel Prize for giving the Kalachakra Initiation. He received it for insisting that non-violence is the only means to further the Tibetan cause and by practiciting non violence himself.

I just checked it. According to the Nobel Prize website's official records, he was given the prize in 1989 for the reason stated above. There is no mention of Kalachakra, or of him giving the empowerment.

Seriously, if you cannot write a reply that is grammatically correct, how can you expect to be taken seriously. As far as shooting the messenger, or shotting the messenger as you put it, when you have a public reputation as a whack job, it's fairly hard to see you as being taken seriously. This also holds true for any academic institution that would give you any qualification recognized under the AQF. They need to seriously look at their academic standards.

Search "shaman human sacrifices" on google. It is a fact. There are many different shamans around the world. And it happens. Just like there are many lineages and traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, and using information from 800AD isn't appropriate. So therefore let's stop the gossip and look at the teachings and the results at 2009AD.

Tibetan Buddhism does not advocate spirit worship or using magic for selfish reasons. This person does, which is why there are videos on this account of her "showing off" her skills (whether they exist or not) instead of using them to help others. In 800 AD Tibet was in chaos and some shamans unfortunately were killed, NOT in the name of Buddhism. So, I'm not sure what your beef is with 2009 Tibetan Buddhism. We can start citing how witches and shamans murdered people, where does it end?

This is the precise reason why non-initiates should not read tantras? There are layers upon layers of meaning that are revealed only through oral transmissions. Otherwise, the risk of misunderstandings and slandering of the dharma is very real.

There's no way this drivel would entice me to buy this book. You need to do a better job of showing that there's even an ounce of worth in this otherwise seeming waste of trees.
BTW, did you mean "Messner?" The guy was a mountaineer. Not an authority on the history of the hidden evil intentions of Tibet.

If the Bonpos were persecuted to the extant that you claim, why are they still extant to this day then? They still exist and flourish. Not only that, but Guru Padmasambhava said that the teachings of white Bon should be treated with the respect shown to Buddhist teachings. How is that taken as a witch hunt?

At least have the respect to spell his name correctly. Further more, the Shugden affair should not be brought into this, it is irrelevant. Those people are not even proper monks or nuns as they do not take the vows relevant to them being a monastic. If you knew better, you would know not to bring in their suspect activites into this matter.

Do you know why the protests in Australia took place? If you had a clue you'd realize that if there is any "dark side" it's actually what HHDL is opposing. He has said that a protector spirit often propitiated by his sectis in fact not a wisdom deity but a worldly deity who holds sectarian and malicious views.
