I think I wanna give this as a gift for my friend that has a baby for her diaper bag so she can feed him wherever and carry his baby utensils. but I do have a question. will the ribbon unravel when you wash it? is that a special ribbon you use?

@ERIKA802 Sounds like a great idea! The only parts of the ribbon that will unravel are the ends. SInce one end is inside the placemat you don't have to worry about it. All you have to do is either burn or seal the end that will be exposed on the other end of the ribbon. If you use a polyester ribbon you can quickly run a lighter across the tip and it will melt and fuse the fibers on the end and will keep it from fraying. There is also a product called Fray Check you can use.

Does the batting have to be 100% cotton? I can never seem to find that. Even at JoAnn...I have 80% Cotton/20% Polyester-ish? batting.

@LetiLaFlaca It doesn't have to be.... The 80/20 stuff will work fine. I just like to use something with cotton or all cotton because if you use all polyester you need to be sure not to hit it with a hot iron or the batting will melt. But with 80/20 you should be fine. :o)

@Ineedmorelives They are actually not scissors. It's a rotary cutter with an ergonomic handle. You can find it at any craft store or fabric shop. :o)
