67rml, they're all athletes! I was in the band from '69 - '71. I started running in '68 in order to try out for the band, and kept it up for 40 years. It's hard (as you probably know) for an 8x5 marching band to do curves and arcs, so we were always mindful of the shape. And the crossovers could be perilous!
Who would leave early w/o seeing that?? I would sit thru the game just to see the band Dot the I !!! I was in a large marching band myself in the 60s, but we never did anything that difficult. The "h" would be horrendously hard technically, but the tuba player must be an athlete.
I was at this game and the reason it was at the end was because it was homecoming against purdue. So they announced the homecoming court instead of script ohio
@jpsmith81 No, it's usually pregame, except for the alumni band day, when a quad Script involving about 600 alumni and 200+ student bandsmen is the main feature of the halftime show. If you go, be sure to attend the Skull Session rehearsal/concert in St. John Arena. It begins an hour and a half before kickoff.
@jpsmith81 This was a special occasion. For some reason, there was not enough time for script at pregame, and we already had a halftime show planned. Usually we do a post-game show that included Sloopy and a halftime show tune, but this game was an exception.

Does the OSU Marching Band put on a post-game show at every game? I'm mainly wanting to go there to see this band.
