Just a personal opinion: Fernando Meirelles is an outstanding moviemaker. I highly recommend his other films (particularly "City of God"). The trailer for this film makes it appear strong, but judging from the other postings it is terrible - which would be a shame. I'll check it out nonetheless and see for myself.

This is by far the Worst film i have ever seen in my life, the story line could of been an amazing film but instead you just want to kill the main characters because, she can see throughout the film, and dose nothing throughout the film, and gets abused and controlled by a group of blind people?

who ever directed this film needs to get a slap from a fish.

I've not seen this, so correct me if they do actually touch upon these few points. But, what would they do with all of the already blind people? Why not just give everyone a white cane and put Braille on everything? Many Americans could survive without sight...But the random sight loss in otherwise healthy people would pose a problem I guess.

Meireles did it again.

The movie uses very low special effects and CGI, but has a powerful story (not has the book, but still very nice) and the photography work is a masterpiece, the reflections, the lightning that connect to the story, etc.

That's why the vast majority of Americans don't like this movie. It isn't what they are used to.

Very good movie overall for it's genre.

i'm not sure but i think they all got blind. because god punished them for being so cruel. most people r cruel and he punishes them so when they all go blind. the only thing they can do is to stay together. and once they learn that they get their vision back. people have been so cruel that they had to be punished like that.

The movie hasmany points1. Society is an illusion so fragile that something like an epidemic can cause its complete breakdown.2. After society was completly broken down people were free. All it took was a few months of blindness to free humanity and shed thier crippling lifestyles as well as systems of hiearchy, money, and control. After humanity was free thier thier sight returned to them. 3. There is irony in the fact that it took physical blindeness for humanity to shed thier own "BLINDNESS"

I just spend allot of money watching this movie, if you havent read the book the movie doesnt make any sense at all.

The start sucks, the movie in general sucks and the end sucks.

If there were spend more money on it, the plot could have been really good.

And the statements in the movie also suck "oh the world and people are only material busy bastards who does not see the real beauty in life" well, maybe some people are like that, but it is 1% of 100.

We didnt get to know why only some of the people were locked in.

The point with the "monarchy" worked really bad and was bad explained. But I guess the point with the system was dictators or politicans are only cares about money and material things.

I think it isnt realistic that woman agrees with forced sex just because they are hungry and i dont believe that men wouldnt defend their women instead of just agreing with them having sex

@sjoelund1 i don't think its realistic that people go blind suddenly and only see white, but it's a good book still. they give in to rape, first because saramago explains how powerful the drive of hunger is, and second, it has nothing to do with the movie, if that's what you're trying to get at. just read the book again or something, lol. it's just a hollywood version of a book, no movie is ever going to be as good as a book.

I don't remember anything from the movie, except for it sucked. The book is probably good, but you shouldn't just make a movie, to earn some easy money... Like in this case. It really sucked.
