Then @ 03:54 calling Santa a "git". Not a good idea when tapping him for eddie fisher ;-j

  • Herbert the pervert in his younger years

  • Love this version..lol. So *adorbs.*

  • @bry1888

Written by Donald Gardner in 1944, the song was originally recorded by Spike Jones & His City Slickers on December 6, 1948, with lead vocal by George Rock.

  • This is such a Goofy song! Hehe..:^D.

I believe Sougorney Weaver's uncle - Doodles Weaver, was a member of Spike Jones Orchestra.

  • I work in a department store and this song keeps playing every day and it's really annoying. It sounds like the pedophile from Family Guy and that's who I see in my head when hearing this song.

  • @KeithPsychosis

You probably need to an ice pick through your boss's left temple.

And you need to stop watching Family Guy. It's just for people with single digit IQs.

I think it's one of Charles Manson's favorite shows.

    Have a great Christmas, Keith.

  • this version plays about once every hour at my job...

i feel a little less sane with each work shift.......

  • I like the Barney version better!

  • what a cute song!! Always makes me laugh...!ha ha ha hah...

  • this is probably the BEST song to go around blowing stuff up and killing things in video games.

  • This is NOT the original!!! Not at all!!!! I have this on 3 vinyls and disc....they sure don't sound like this! One of the vinyls was bought in the 50's. This is not original at all!!!!

  • @beatlesarebest actually this was written in 1944 and first recorded by spike jones in 1948 so it IS the original. it hit the top of the charts by '49. By the late 50's it had been re-recorded by at least 3 different groups.

  • @Bri0701 I should have been clearer. I understand this is the original song, but the version I have has a different beginning to it. The version I have is Spike Jones as well, but the beginning is different.

  • This song is so annoying but I just keep coming for some reason

  • my grandfather loved Spike Jones he had this record, as well as my fave City Slickers tune Cocktails for Two

  • It's Herbert the Pervert as a kid! XD

  • this song is fairly annoying as it is, but this version actually makes me want to kill someone

  • then don't watch it :P

  • @hywel777 The only reason I hunted this down is because they play it every day where I work, and I was morbidly curious to find out more about it . . . I cannot get certain images out of my head when I hear it at work, like a mouse in checkered trousers and a hat dancing around a christmas tree, and I wanted to see if there was an original video in case it was less annoying than what I had going round in my head.

I should stop talking now.... I've already said too much.

  • @hywel777 What if I want to want to kill someone?

  • @Otterley07 oh, but I think it's awesome!

  • Love it! best song ever!!

  • We had this on the reel-to-reel ever since I was a kid, and I never knew who wrote it! We also had a lot of Bing Crosby, some choral music that probably dated to the 50's, and "Ding-A-Ling the Christmas Bell". Don't ask.
