When a car is inconvenienced, they learn what it's like for bikes. It's empowering to bicyclists who get victimised and marginalized every day. If you were out on a bike on the road every day with crazy road rage drivers endangering you for sport, you'd get pissed off too.

I have been on the mpls critical mass rides at least 5 times. This is a peaceful protest and the riders are not the ones to get out of hand. The only time the riders need to defend themselves is if people get out of their cars and start to try and act tough to fight the crowd, or if cars try to hit someone riding in the back of the group, I have seen both happen numerous times.

Actually there are protests at the DNC, mainly done by the left. See, most people on the right, have no real desire to get up and fight for it. I have gone on several large motorcycle rides with 100+ bikes, with proper permits and police cooperation, never had any problems.
