Minneapolis /St Paul = #5 of all American cites for the WORST motorst, aggressive driving, violence on road, and stupid motorist that can not follow the simplest of traffic laws... This include Minneapolis police.... Think it's funny - wait till the insurnace companies start really raising rates... And companies move to where employess are more intelligent and have a bettter quaility of life... Go on and show the world how stupid you can be...
wow i cant believe everyone hating on cyclist. we cant ride on the sidewalk because we'll hit people who are walking and coming in and out of stores and we cant ride in the streets because we're in-convincing people in automobiles even though the law allows cyclists the same rights on the road as automobiles
I guess there is no safety in numbers. Ride safely, away from car. Learned this as a child. I don't know why we grant special understanding for recreational bicycle riders over people in automobiles who actually might have something important to do. Ride alone, wear a helmet. Bicycles aren't that cool anyways.
@hatfisc The whole point of critical mass is to show that bicycle riders have the exact same rights as cars. Riding in numbers means that when cars and cops mess with riders, there are witnesses. When a car is inconvenienced, they learn what it's like for bikes. It's empowering to bicyclists who get victimised and marginalized every day. If you were out on a bike on the road every day with crazy road rage drivers endangering you for sport, you'd get pissed off too.
@TheRepublicOfJohn Sounds like critical mass is just a bunch of trouble makers. There really needs to be an organized group for that? Sounds pointless to me but thats just my opinion.
Well I dislike the bikes that dont keep up with traffic that if critical mass every shows up here on a regular time I will buy a 5 pound canister of mace and let them have it as they drive by. Might not stop them but it sure will piss them off.
I'm no whiney faggot there fuckface. Come beef with me while I'm riding my bike, I'll have a nice surprise waiting for you guy! Also, I'm not sure I agree with your premise that cops WON'T single someone out just because they're NOT gay, if that's what you're trying to say.

Worthless. They are doing there job. When riots form. In which this case, it is a riot. They go to levels like this. The cyclists were looking for attention and dont understand that roads are meant for cars.
1. Roads meant for cars? Roads are meant to be shared.
2. This was not a riot. The police made a very inappropriate call (one normally made when a police officer is shot). To top it off the initial arrestee's charges were dropped. So, yes, the police did fuck up.
3. Critical mass has happened every month for the past several years. Clearly the police instigated something at this one as previous critical masses have been peaceful and calm.
"Roads are meant to be shared" I didn't know bikes can be petaled 70 mph. Didn't know bikes can be car pooled. There are specified roads where bikes can be ridden on. These roads they are forming this riot is not roads for bicycles. I drive by these roads daily and get pissed everytime I see a biker trying to ride on them. I am going to start bringing my paintball gun and shooting them!

this country has always been about the minority protesting the majority. sit-ins, boycotts, strikes, what have you. if its not hurting anybody, it is all americans duty to recognize and allow protests, statements, and peaceful displays of defiance. why are most people skeptical? because they're not involved and it makes them feel small, left out, and defensive. get involved with something you believe in!
PART 3: respect Cops, but that cop abused his power. It's really nice to see the people who you would want to turn to in a time of crisis treat others that way. It sucks. But I tell you what, If I ever saw ANYONE who even remotely who looks like that cop whether it's at a traffic light or my little brothers D.A.R.E. graduation. I am running away. Far away. And one more thing. It's definitely not Fuck the Police it's fuck THAT Cop and any other who takes advantage of a situation.
PART 2: For argument sakes, say the police were using the spray for there own protection. From WHAT!!! Either write ppl tickets and make their life hell and drown them in fines, like a true civil asshole, or arrest the ones who are making trouble. You don't need to walk into a crowd of people and start spraying anybody. Yell for people to get the fuck out of the way or they will get maced. Then start spraying.
One confusing thing for me is seeing how it progressed to a shit cop walking in a crowd and spraying ANYONE even looking at what was going on. I live right by Rudolph's and not less than a couple weeks ago I watched these exact same bike riders bike thru the intersection of Franklin and Lyndale, w/ POLICE ESCORTS. WTF!
The CM in the US need to get legal observers on their rides.London CM has a number of lawyers that volunteer to ride with the mass and the police are forced to behave themselves.
Cars should be watching for bikers and not driving so carelessly around them. Keep your eyes open for bikers and do not drive deliberately in bike lanes when riders are around. You need to attend a ride to see what it is really about. It is a friendly crowd, and not a angry mob.
And of all times that I have been on the ride I have only seen 1 person get arrested and that is the only time Ive seen police action ever being taken, the police didn't bother us for the rest of that ride..and the policeman's response for why the man was being arrested? He was blocking traffic..He was picked out of the crowd and arrested. My reason for attending the ride, my sister has been hit by careless drivers 4 times now she has been injured badly one of the times.
This has always been a peaceful protest and the riders are not looking for a police reaction, who seriously wants to get arrested? They are simply looking for recognition when it comes to bicyclists being on the road. What law did the riders break? Since when do you need a permit to go on a bike ride? Bicycles have the same rights as cars do on the road.
The riders broke many laws, see my previous post. A mass gathering/protest is not a simpe bike ride. You do need a permit for a mass organized gathering/protest. O keep reading that bikes have the same rights blahblahblah, but you have to realize bikes also have the same responsibility to follow traffic laws. If there was a large group of cars driving together, weaving across lanes, circing in intersections, and charging at cyclists, there would likely be shots fired.
Squintz you brain dead fu<k wit, everyone thruout the world knows CM is a peaceful ride, yo dont drag bikers across the road and FUCKING mace people for weaving .. you fucking cretin.
I have been on the mpls critical mass rides at least 5 times. This is a peaceful protest and the riders are not the ones to get out of hand. The only time the riders need to defend themselves is if people get out of their cars and start to try and act tough to fight the crowd, or if cars try to hit someone riding in the back of the group, I have seen both happen numerous times.
I think I will form a group protest countering all the bozos protesting the RNC. Why don't you ever hear about people protesting the DNC? Maybe because they do it lawfully and don't act like spoiled brats who think they can do anything, like make themselves pains in the ass and encroach on the rights of others they disagree with. Or maybe they don't aspire to be protest martyrs or actually have responsibilities like jobs and families.
What a brain dead corporate gob-shite you are , towing the line, a neocon fuckwit, you're pathetic. You're another brainwashed victim of the system, you're part of the reason why your country is so fucked up.
What a brilliant response. I had no idea I would get such a intelligent response. Let's see, you know nothing about me yet I am all of those things? How enlightened you are! My how open and encouraging of diversity and discourse you are.
You can believe you are capable of " diversity and discourse " all you like, I say it how it is, you are a brain dead, TOOL of the system, as I said, a fu<k wit, plain and simple.
Repetition is a sign low IQ and/or mental handicap like autism. You should get checked out urban. Didn't your crack mommy tell you that you can attract more bees with honey than vinegar from mom's douche? Davejay, protests and boycotts are all fine and dandy until you start interfering with other people's rights.
" Didn't your crack mommy tell you that you can attract more bees with honey than vinegar from mom's douche? " Cleary your crack whore mater didn't tell you either, delusions of grandeur and elitist superiority is also a mental health issue, you may need to know that.
Actually there are protests at the DNC, mainly done by the left. See, most people on the right, have no real desire to get up and fight for it. Sure some do, of course it always ends up in the form of a clinic bombing or a lynch mob. Critical Mass in my opinion does nothing to prove the point that bikes deserve use of the road just as much as cars, in fact it just angers people. If they really want to prove their point just go out there, bike often and share the road.
It's not a protest!! It's just people biking in the streets. They're not protesting for more bike paths or biking rights, They're just having fun and the police took them off their bikes, handcuffed them, AND THEN tazed them.
Which leads the the predictable cascade into the mob being disorderly and trying to make the police out to be some evil people when all they are doing is there job. You people should read up on Martin Luther King and peaceful protest instead of provoking protest.
And when police finally make the arrest, the other bikers got unruly and tried pulling cops off the d-bag. It's all just a front to test the waters for the RNC. And just like any other d-bag protest where they try and make themselves as much of a pain in the ass to everyone else, some morons decided to try and make themselves protest martyrs.
Yeah, being pulled off his bike. It's nice how the video was edited to start as the police took action. Gee, I wonder if the part where the d-bag was doing something where he should have been taken off his bike was cut out like say, I don't know, riding straight at cars.
fair enough, you can assume that all cars never come to a "rolling stop" at stop signs, never go faster than the speeding limit by even 1mph, and always signal their turns more than 100' before turning. Drivers never break the law.
I regret to see that you assumed I take part in Critical Mass - or that I'm even a cyclist. Really I'm just a Minneapolis resident that knows the laws and has a realist view of transportation and infrastruture needs.
In Minneapolis, bicycles are legally considered traffic and as such have the same rights to share all roads (except interstates and some highways). What makes cars so important that they should be the only type of vehicle on the road (other than the fact that you own one?)
the worst possible result of someone temporarily impeding the flow of traffic is that a few motorists arrive at their destinations one minute later than anticipated.
is preventing this type of "anarchy" worth the violence and resulting escalation of police-directed animosity? uh, no. bobo the chimp could have figured that out.
if people would only relax, we could probably all find a peaceful way to coexist on this planet, but the human desire to control others will never subside.
Come on now...you know the only reason that any of you attend such functions is in hopes of some type of police reaction. You're just getting what you deserve and you love it.
I thought it was about making cycling as transportation more visible, the only one of these I have seen where the cops did not step over the line was where the Mayor was among the cyclists
Please feel free to keep this behavior up...we'll just keep arresting you. It's that simple. Obstruction of justice...Riot...two good charges for these people to go to jail on!
They weren't really arrested for obstruction of justice. That's just the charge. They were really arrested for obstruction of a street. Does that warrant breaking out the old mace? Makes the police look rather over the top in the enforcement of their power.
Whyats happening to this Great Country !!!!We The People doesnt apply.I hate to see this but this is the beginning of us losing our rights. We have to stop this madness vote Ron Paul or just get everyone involved. This is The United States of America!United We Stand.Wake Up America!!!

It's time to grow up children. If you break laws and disturb the peace, you will be arrested. If you resist arrest, you will get your ass kicked. Pretty damn simple.
The only problem is, the people who got arrested were NOT breaking the law. They were riding their bikes. If someone sped past you on the highway and you got pulled over, how would that make you feel?
Yes, they were breaking the law. Impeding the flow of traffic, unlawful assembly, disturbing the peace, threatening property damage/bodily harm, jaywalking, resisting arrest, failing to follow instuctions from a peace officer, etc. etc. And generally behaving like a bunch of small children who didn't get their way. Waaaaaahhhhhh!!
So, let me get this straight. In the United States of America, it is illegal to assemble? As for threatening property damage/bodily harm, it seems that those people were in the small minority. Perhaps you don't see the person being pulled off this bike while he is riding past. I refer to my earlier question, to which you did not respond - you are driving down the road, someone speeds past you, and the "peace officer" pulls you over. How do you feel then?
Yes, unlawful assembly is a crime. Look it up. If Critical mass would have followed the rules and got a permit and cooperated with law enforcement, there would have been no problems. I have gone on several large motorcycle rides with 100+ bikes, with proper permits and police cooperation, never had any problems. I didn't respond to your hypothetical scenario because it doesn't relate to being directly involved with a disorderly group and facing the consequences.
Yeah. Damn those dangerous, violent, vicious bike riders. How dare they get in the way of those defenseless, heavily armed police officers with plenty of backup and large vehicles. Damn them to hell. Next time, they should give them the chair!

This CM'er decided to charge at cars. I can't get over the crappy propaganda that is put out. Shortly after this footage was shot 19 CM'er were arrested....some of the charges include rioting. Just hop on your fairy looking bike and move along. This is the only time I have honestly missed my Hummer. It would have been great to smoosh a few CM'ers. Fuckin' asshats

I live right by Rudolph's and not less than a couple weeks ago I watched these exact same bike riders bike thru the intersection of Franklin and Lyndale, w/ POLICE ESCORTS. WTF!
jeferobles 4 years ago
The CM in the US need to get legal observers on their rides.London CM has a number of lawyers that volunteer to ride with the mass and the police are forced to behave themselves.

PART 4:
Cars should be watching for bikers and not driving so carelessly around them. Keep your eyes open for bikers and do not drive deliberately in bike lanes when riders are around. You need to attend a ride to see what it is really about. It is a friendly crowd, and not a angry mob.
Bekuhsibet 4 years ago
And of all times that I have been on the ride I have only seen 1 person get arrested and that is the only time Ive seen police action ever being taken, the police didn't bother us for the rest of that ride..and the policeman's response for why the man was being arrested? He was blocking traffic..He was picked out of the crowd and arrested. My reason for attending the ride, my sister has been hit by careless drivers 4 times now she has been injured badly one of the times.
Bekuhsibet 4 years ago
PART 2:
This has always been a peaceful protest and the riders are not looking for a police reaction, who seriously wants to get arrested? They are simply looking for recognition when it comes to bicyclists being on the road. What law did the riders break? Since when do you need a permit to go on a bike ride? Bicycles have the same rights as cars do on the road.
Bekuhsibet 4 years ago
The riders broke many laws, see my previous post. A mass gathering/protest is not a simpe bike ride. You do need a permit for a mass organized gathering/protest. O keep reading that bikes have the same rights blahblahblah, but you have to realize bikes also have the same responsibility to follow traffic laws. If there was a large group of cars driving together, weaving across lanes, circing in intersections, and charging at cyclists, there would likely be shots fired.
Squintz22 4 years ago
Squintz you brain dead fu<k wit, everyone thruout the world knows CM is a peaceful ride, yo dont drag bikers across the road and FUCKING mace people for weaving .. you fucking cretin.

PART 1:
I have been on the mpls critical mass rides at least 5 times. This is a peaceful protest and the riders are not the ones to get out of hand. The only time the riders need to defend themselves is if people get out of their cars and start to try and act tough to fight the crowd, or if cars try to hit someone riding in the back of the group, I have seen both happen numerous times.
Bekuhsibet 4 years ago

You are a TOOL. LOL

Dirtyspeed1 4 years ago
It's not a protest!! It's just people biking in the streets. They're not protesting for more bike paths or biking rights, They're just having fun and the police took them off their bikes, handcuffed them, AND THEN tazed them.
TybaltProductions 4 years ago
I agree
jhusby 4 years ago
Which leads the the predictable cascade into the mob being disorderly and trying to make the police out to be some evil people when all they are doing is there job. You people should read up on Martin Luther King and peaceful protest instead of provoking protest.
mplspug 4 years ago
And when police finally make the arrest, the other bikers got unruly and tried pulling cops off the d-bag. It's all just a front to test the waters for the RNC. And just like any other d-bag protest where they try and make themselves as much of a pain in the ass to everyone else, some morons decided to try and make themselves protest martyrs.
mplspug 4 years ago
Yeah, being pulled off his bike. It's nice how the video was edited to start as the police took action. Gee, I wonder if the part where the d-bag was doing something where he should have been taken off his bike was cut out like say, I don't know, riding straight at cars.
mplspug 4 years ago
fair enough, you can assume that all cars never come to a "rolling stop" at stop signs, never go faster than the speeding limit by even 1mph, and always signal their turns more than 100' before turning. Drivers never break the law.
summerinside 4 years ago
While I'm not sure that last sentence was a question (?) would Critical Mass be any different if everyone was driving alone in a car?
summerinside 4 years ago
I regret to see that you assumed I take part in Critical Mass - or that I'm even a cyclist. Really I'm just a Minneapolis resident that knows the laws and has a realist view of transportation and infrastruture needs.
summerinside 4 years ago
In Minneapolis, bicycles are legally considered traffic and as such have the same rights to share all roads (except interstates and some highways). What makes cars so important that they should be the only type of vehicle on the road (other than the fact that you own one?)
summerinside 4 years ago
Why did that cop spray those innocent bystanders? Has/Is anything going to be done about it???
TomGreenFan69 4 years ago
What a cheap way to try to expose someone.
TheAntiV 4 years ago
the worst possible result of someone temporarily impeding the flow of traffic is that a few motorists arrive at their destinations one minute later than anticipated.
is preventing this type of "anarchy" worth the violence and resulting escalation of police-directed animosity? uh, no. bobo the chimp could have figured that out.
if people would only relax, we could probably all find a peaceful way to coexist on this planet, but the human desire to control others will never subside.

i hate cops.

I love to see anarchists get arrested. They're the cockroaches of society and as such it's ok to beat and stomp them into oblivion.
raultalbot7 4 years ago
is it really? are you actually calling for violence against the people in this video?
summerinside 4 years ago
Come on now...you know the only reason that any of you attend such functions is in hopes of some type of police reaction. You're just getting what you deserve and you love it.
raultalbot7 4 years ago
I thought it was about making cycling as transportation more visible, the only one of these I have seen where the cops did not step over the line was where the Mayor was among the cyclists

Please feel free to keep this behavior up...we'll just keep arresting you. It's that simple. Obstruction of justice...Riot...two good charges for these people to go to jail on!
amnsjl 4 years ago
They weren't really arrested for obstruction of justice. That's just the charge. They were really arrested for obstruction of a street. Does that warrant breaking out the old mace? Makes the police look rather over the top in the enforcement of their power.

It's time to grow up children. If you break laws and disturb the peace, you will be arrested. If you resist arrest, you will get your ass kicked. Pretty damn simple.
Squintz22 4 years ago
The only problem is, the people who got arrested were NOT breaking the law. They were riding their bikes. If someone sped past you on the highway and you got pulled over, how would that make you feel?
mattpurchases 4 years ago 2
Yes, they were breaking the law. Impeding the flow of traffic, unlawful assembly, disturbing the peace, threatening property damage/bodily harm, jaywalking, resisting arrest, failing to follow instuctions from a peace officer, etc. etc. And generally behaving like a bunch of small children who didn't get their way. Waaaaaahhhhhh!!
Squintz22 4 years ago
So, let me get this straight. In the United States of America, it is illegal to assemble? As for threatening property damage/bodily harm, it seems that those people were in the small minority. Perhaps you don't see the person being pulled off this bike while he is riding past. I refer to my earlier question, to which you did not respond - you are driving down the road, someone speeds past you, and the "peace officer" pulls you over. How do you feel then?
mattpurchases 4 years ago 2
Yes, unlawful assembly is a crime. Look it up. If Critical mass would have followed the rules and got a permit and cooperated with law enforcement, there would have been no problems. I have gone on several large motorcycle rides with 100+ bikes, with proper permits and police cooperation, never had any problems. I didn't respond to your hypothetical scenario because it doesn't relate to being directly involved with a disorderly group and facing the consequences.

Get the fuck out of America bitch this is a free country.
