  • Hope the cocaine was worth it dude.

  • @MoronHunterD obviously cocaine was a bad idea, but I still feel some symphony towards the guy. He was kicked out of the dutch gymnasts union, had his medal taken away and lost his job with the dutch military. Even he said it was really stupid, but if you've been a substance abuser before and you have national competition level pressure on you, I can see why that might have been a very easy time to slip back into the addiction.

  • @Jmorgan721 sympathy, not symphony. Darn you auto correct.

  • @fermindiaz1 lmao. Bionic is what I meant in the sense that his body looks supernatural. ...Thanks for the linguistic tips though. Hope I'm not using too many large words here lol.

  • Its funny how people go on and on about steroids whenever they see someone ripped like that. I haven't seen an elite olympic level gymnast who doesn't have a bionically ripped body. It's a by product of their job and hard work. Btw just to state the obvious, this is one of the top athletes in the world, it's hardly surprising that he's physical specimen.

  • @XRePete i agree with you but you need to completely state your ideas instead of trying to use large words. Bionic refers to electronic or mechanical parts, not to be used in the place of BIOLOGICAL. And "Btw" you didnt write a complete sentence at the end; incomplete thought

  • @tomgiac I agree completely, after you've gained the strength to master the move it becomes a matter of endurance and hypertrophy. Most of these gymnasts are very light being around 150 lbs average. If you don't think you can be 150 lbs and ripped out of your fucking mind without steroids then you probably never really been good at dieting.

  • Why are most gymnasts short? is it because of training or you just need to be genetically short to be so good at gymnastics? xD

  • @TheNin0007 because of training from very young age and genetically too. It's easier to do such kinds of movements when you are short.

  • @TheNin0007

Because lots of moviment are simple if you are short. Think the hirondelle, or the victorian.

And if you are short, you are lighter

  • @Stockholm1990 oh yes i have hannibal in my favorites. those guys are ridiculous

  • So, wait. Did Yuri get caught doing steroids? Really?

  • @ilegrow He was busted after powdering his nose with coke.Just partying once..

  • @Powerman8885 Wow, can you imagine being that famous? Where if you do omething like he did you get a severe punishment for it? Wow

  • Comment removed

  • @ilegrow actually you right. Professional sport requires a ridiculous discipline.

  • I wish I'd look as awesome as that half man - half robot dude!

  • Thats what i call Natural ,,, steriods are Shittt !

  • A name a destiny.

  • МОЛОДЕЦ ПАРЕНЬ !!!! СУПЕР !

  • Vaht did he say?!

  • Gymnasts have always the best bodies!!!

  • Definitely steroids

  • @mrworkout79 that guy is doin handstands on planches up on his rings for like 20 hours a week, so if anyone takes roids but not him

  • @LordoftheMoves Well I am working out for more than 13 years I do at least 10 years pullups and dips and push ups and stuff and I compared lot of guys who i know for sure they 're natural to guys who told me that they use or did use in the past. And I compared gymnastics at least as good as Yuri but the other gymnastics do not have buffed muscles as he have. He also admit that he used cocaine. And if he used that why wouldn't he use another drug like this. If you look at a picture...

  • @LordoftheMoves ... or footage of him you don't have to be a top class student too see that those muscles are not drugfree. You don't get such shoulders and arms for only hanging in the rings and eat right. i am doung this for more than 13 years and I am not even halfway. For example you cannot compare Jeffrey Wammes and Epke Zonderland (other topgymnastics) to him, they are doing the sport at least as long as he did does.

  • @mrworkout79 well u said it, u cannot compare people. simply because u might not have the same physique he has although u workout hard for 13 years doesn´t mean that it´s not possible. i for example am pretty sure that i won´t ever have such a yuri van gelder body without using illegal supplements simply because i haven´t got the right genetics or enough dedication or whatever but for others it´s definitely possible. check out youtube user ice1cube, he doesn´t even use any protein shakes or...

  • @LordoftheMoves ...stuff, simply works out hard and eats the right things. he´s as buffed as gelder and also 100% percent natural. look for "Back Attack Workout with GOKU" and tell me what u think

ps: also the guy he trains with only uses protein shakes, works out hard and eats the right stuff, no illegal stuff

  • @LordoftheMoves .Sorry for of a late reaction but the Gokuguy, ok I believe he is natural and I think he's been training years and years to get this physique. But if you look at yuri he is just very very buffed( more than Goku and also he is very lean. More leaner than Goku. I just think that the combination of very lean and extremely buffed muscles is natural impossible..

  • @LordoftheMoves ..You have three different kind of bodytypes: ectomorphs, mesomorphs and endomorphs.(You also have combinations of those bodytypes) If you are a real ectomorph you your muscles grow slow but you have nice lines and stuff which means that you can see the muscles very good because of the low fat. I just think that those kinda bodytypes never get really big. I mean not as big as the other two bodytypes. If you are a mesomorph your muscles grow fast but you always have more fat...

  • @LordoftheMoves If the mesomorphic bodytype will try to lose fat, his muscles will decrease. I think that it is impossible too have a physique like Yuri van Gelder (very buffed and very lean) The guy Goku, i think thats thats about the maximum to get out a natural body. I think it's possible to get as lean as Yuri but then you will have a lack of being big. So if you are natural you always have a weak point. I mean that a natural mesomorphic bodytype can never get as lean as a real ectomorph...

  • @LordoftheMoves ... and an ectomorph can never cat as big as a mesomorph. If you want both than you have to juice. By the way van Gelder has admit he used cocaine and I know that has nothing to do with getting bigger or so but if he has the guts to use cocaine why wouldn't he use steroids? I hope you understand what i am trying to explain. Probably u don't agree with me but that doesn't matter because I respect your opinion :)

  • @mrworkout79 hehe, yeah i get your point and i think u could be right with yuri. when i compare him to the goku guy, who i truly i think is natural, there are some differences which most likely come from the use of steroids. it is obviously more difficult for some people to gain mass than it is for others and i think that can be best explained by the 3 bodytypes you mentioned and i guess that´s why people often accuse others of roid use simply because for them it´s impossible to go as big all...

  • @mrworkout79 ...natural. nonetheless, and that´s what a lot of people seem to forget, is that u still have to work extremely hard to achieve for example a yuri-physique even if you use roids, simply taking them won´t do it. so as i said, thinking about it now, i can imagine that he might have used roids but he obviously did a lot more for his body than only that. as i wrote in an earlier comment: "that guy is doin handstands on planches up on his rings for like 20 hours a week" and i still...

  • @mrworkout79 ...think that his dedication and hard work did the main job for achieving such a physique.

good to see that you still can have a discussion on youtube without insulting each other and throwing swearwords onto each other´s head and also respecting the other´s opinion, greetings from austria :)

  • @LordoftheMoves text allot of text .. greetz :)

  • @LordoftheMoves Yeah he definitely deserves a lot of respect anyway because he is just a topathlete and he worked years and years to achieve to get so far in this sport. He is not a random guy around the corner if you know what I mean. It doesn't matter if steroids were involved or not because he has shown that he is a hell of gymnast. Maybe I shouldn't have place that comment in the beginning but the main thing is that we learnt from talking about this. Knowledge is power! You must be proud...

  • @LordoftheMoves ... to be an Austrian because that's were the master himself (not Yuri) came from. Incredible what that guy did in the past and still does. I really admire him and if I watch pictures sometimes my eyes will still go wide open for such an amazing physique what he had. Damn.. Thanks for sharing my opinion.. GreetzZz from Holland (just like Yuri) :-)

  • @mrworkout79 i like the intellectual and respectful nature that this debate has taken but let me add my input here. just something to think about. Gymnasts work on a strength to bodyweight ratio. the bigger they are the harder it is to the gymnastic moves. not only that. the kind of things that gelder does are enormously taxing on not only the muscles but the joint. joint strength is never something that someone who is not in gymnastics thinks about. it is not that they are stupid, its just.....

  • that joint strength is not something that any other sport thinks about cause it is not as essential as it is in gymnastics. and it takes years to develop appropriately. now on the take of steroids, steroids help to build strength and hypertrophy so people would argue that it would benefit a gymnast where in reality it would hinder them because steroids does nothing to enhance joint strength so they would not be able to do the things that they nomrally do without hurting themselves cause.........

  • of the added weight. so gymnasts arent worried about size and gelder does nothing but rings and he has for years and so his physique is possible without steroids. it takes much longer than normal but it is possible. Gymnasts also work on building maximal strength without the size so they can perform these moves as easy as possible but gelder has gotten to the point that he is doing those moves for endurance and perfection in form so doing that hypertrophy comes into play where it doesnt with....

  • other gymnasts trying to master these moves.

  • also the man is only a little over five feet tall. being that small in stature to get that bulky is easier than it is for someone who is six feet tall so his physique is definitely possible without the use of steroids

  • @tomgiac Thank you for calling this intellectual and respectful but I wrote down my opinion and argumenst and I also respect yours but I think we will never get the real answer of what is true. We can make a long debate about this but I wonder where he got his physiue and 'buffness' come from if you compare them to other gymnasts who train at least as hard and righy as him, train at least the amount of years he have trained and him eat the right things to reach the top.

  • @tomgiac I think it has nothing to do with how tall you are and ofcourse if someone is shorter he needs less musclemass for his height someone else. But if you look at his buffness in combination with his bodyfatpercentage( look elsewhere for my theory about the three bodytypes) I just think he isn't natural 100 %. I respect the knowledge you have, thinking about it and way for giving your opinion and i know lots of it it's true but 'Google' Epke Zonderland' if you like.

  • @tomgiac He is 3 years younger and a topgymnast. If you check his muscles it's a complete other physique. I know with someone goes it faster then the other but to make a long story short: Look how lean Yuri is and how buffed he is. I just think it's impossible to get a physique like that drugfree because too build up very big muscles it's you have to be mesomorphic or endomorphic and you always have layers of visible fat around your body. If you want too burn the fat you also burn muscles...

  • @tomgiac .... and then you look not so buffed anymore. If you use steroids it's possible to get big and look very lean. I don't have nothing to say more about it, and it's just an opinion. Look at youtube of scooby's workshop. That guy has a great body but he is not as lean as Yuri, he is natural. Being as lean as Yuri is possible drugfree buttt.. then it's hard to build up muscles which means and you will never get big as him. It's all about you're bodytype.Ectomorph: small build, very lean....

  • @tomgiac .... Mesomorph: layers of fat but you can gett very big and endomorph you can build up more muscles but you have more fat. Well, tomgiac I have no proof so there is hope for you:-) GreetzZz from Holland ;-)

  • @mrworkout79 well Epke zonderland is a different type of gymnast. he works on many different apparatuses and if you look at gymnasts who are all around gymnasts they generally have similar physiques. Yuri Van Gelder specializes on rings. he does a little vaulting but that is it and its rare. the rings are his home. and it is possible to get that slim and buff. look at other ring specialists like yuri chechi or the current champion, chen yibing, or dong zhen even. it is possible to get that......

  • much hypertrophy and cut. it takes a meticulous diet. but with the right balance in proteins, carbs, and fats anyone could get that cut and big over time. it just takes time. and he doesnt stay that cut all the time. look at some of his more recent vids and he isnt as cut. diet is the biggest play. genetics has its place but diet and the work that you do has just as big as an effect if not more

  • @tomgiac no way anyone could get that cut, nobody makes elite physiques without the right genes nor elite in any activitity. With roids most could get as cut.

  • @billysue2 yes they can. it takes a lot of consistency and dedication. the biggest factor is time. building muscle naturally takes so much longer then if you are using roids. i will grant to you that genes are a big factor but it is possible

  • Comment removed

  • could you upload the same vid in better quality please?

  • yum

  • is he a midget?

  • @ic069

A midget who breaks your weak fragile balls...

  • @Kolashov No, not really

  • @ic069

    He's paracdo...

and have you even taken a look at this guy....?

    what are YOU then ?

  • @Kolashov a 6 foot 2 235 pound guy, hes about 140 pounds

  • @ic069

look at how well developed (big) his muscles are.

+ he's prolly fast aswell as strong + athletic.

Don't matter how much you weight , i myself have taken down larger , bigger men then myself. Speed , strength , tactics , that's what it's all about.

  • @Kolashov Okay, put mike tyson against a lightweight champion see what happens.

  • @ic069

Mike tyson was a legend , you can't rly put someone up against him

  • @Kolashov Put a heavyweight champion against a lightweight champion, see what happens.

  • @ic069

Okay , you got a point there.

although the heavyweight would be allot slower though , so the lightweight would deal more punches , and get less. however , if the lightweight manages to get a good punch in his face , then the lightweight would be KO

  • wat een heeeeeeerlijk lijf, met of zonder drugs hij blijft ge-wel-dig

  • Weer aan de Coke lekker ding? Neem dan Pepsi.

  • At 1:22 you can se that its actualy thundering in his gym. Now thats epic!

  • Interview deleted ? Well, anyway i am just here to watch Yury...LOL !

  • i feel jalousy

  • The man is impressive!

  • That's one dense short fireplug!

  • I love this interview i really like his quote on 00:50... it sounds amazing..

  • lol not likely :P

  • Do women find Yuri Van gelder attractive?

  • @miketysoncantpunch So many women go, "Ick, too much muscle."

They kinda forget what makes the gymnastics on the Posturepedic fun!

  • so do professional gymnast weightlift at all?? like to build up their muscle strength?? or is all that muscle just from lifting their own body weight all their life??

  • @paintball8439 im not into this sport at allj, but i can tell you that you wont get that muscled like him but just lifting your own body weight. Everyone that does topsport does have to workout in the gym aswell

  • @kaikaz Not true read coach sommer's interview on dragondoordotcom. If you ever tried any of these things like planche pushups you would see how much strength they take. Also look at calisthenickingz vids and hannibalforking. It's very possible to build muscle with bodyweight. Read about herschel walker possibly the best college football player ever.

  • @82Bdog its indeed possible to build muscle with bodyweight but not that much, thats a fact. Otherwise every bodybuilder doesnt have to go to the gym anymore and just use his own weight. If i can get that muscled like him just by using my bodyweight then please tell me what exercices i need to do and ill stop going to the gym, its too expensive anyway.

  • @kaikaz Yes it is did you look at what I told you to look at? Granted some do weighted movements like weighted pullups, pushups, dips, etc. I have been doing this and gaining muscle. I used to lift weights hardcore. I like this much better. When you can bust on planche pushups and front lever pullups there is no doubt you will build muscle and extreme strength. Remember gymnasts try to keep their bodyweight low for competition. If they were eating like a bodybuilder they would def be bigger.

  • @kaikaz Also check out Littlebeastm's vids on here. That kid went from like 180 to 220 and has never lifted weight. He can do planche pushups and most of the other strength moves. You will prob need to do weighted movements but you definitely don't need to lift weights. If you're about raw strength this calisthenics is better. Remember bodybuilders are not the strongest it's all for show. If I ever lift weights again it will prob be olympic lifts.

  • @kaikaz wrong...you can - i have

  • @grishenko45 picture pls...

  • i dont that

  • funny how an interview has no sound. I guess the body speaks for itself

  • That guy has awesome arms! The roided up freaks at the gym are all show and not much go outside the weight machines. There was this guy at work who's arms where massive and yet he couldn't even pull himself up a net 30 feet before quitting and just burnt out. I'd rather have strength to back up the muscle instead of filling them with fluids and puff.

  • @TheTruthHurtsYup well said bro. well said.

  • wat is dit een sukkel zeg

  • oh myyy god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =O

  • heiEinsam heute wer ist bereit für bisl tel labern oda chat

  • roids do wonders

  • true, but whats your point

  • beautiful body but is he natural?

  • purenatural loll:P! just good nutrition... and gymnastic!

  • If all of those muscles came just from being a gymnast. People should'nt lift weights.

  • Gymnasts don't do any weights. They have a lot of conditioning/strength training excercies they use.

My brother was a ring specialist years ago and was set for Olympic Trials but tore some ligament in his shoulder just before.

I do weights now but years ago I just borrowed some (simple, low level) conditioning excercises from my brother. One day I went to the weight gym with a couple friends and tried a bench press with 200 lbs and it was a pretty easy lift.

  • @kinnokaizoku Yes, I see the point you're trying to make. Gymnastic strength and conditioning has almost limitless applications.

  • yuri, but for sure not yuri chechi.Yuri chechi the lord of the rings

  • id like to eat my dinner off his body

  • @AandFBrunetteQT If you have a vagina and he's GAY good luck in your attempt

  • Comment removed

  • this guy has zero bodyfat. i'm very jealous of his physique

  • train like that then. do front lever, back lever, iron cross, one-arm chins, human flag etc. just do a search. i got many more exercises

  • Wow, what a perfect solid muscle body. I bet his arms are stronger than his legs.

  • @pfarrel2002 what legs ?

  • @pfarrel2002 That's not a good thing

  • lol ok wtv greg. But before u leave can tell me what is cunt?

  • Comment removed

  • this guy doesnt take steroids gregjocka.

  • You're right, but you're not a psycho. You're just another troll who cites hitler as his hero. If you saw the apocolypse coming, you'd shit your pants and die of a heart attack before it came.

  • So I just looked at your profile and it was very impressive... you are the fattest, mightiest keyboard of warrior of them all. Please teach me your ways, master.

You are bringing on the apocolypse from your keyboard one dirty comment at a time!

  • You're right. I'm a fatass keyboard warrior living in my mom's basement. I only ever get out my recliner to take a shit but I'm afraid even that is becoming very difficult. So who are you?

  • lol gregjocka left, yay!!

  • lol looks like his entire profile is gone. One less troll to deal with.

  • hahaha woots we won!

  • I actually was implying that hard work resulted in his physique, not solely genetics. You talk like all people need to do is have the right parents, take steroids, and they'll look amazing with no expended effort...

But whatever, no point in arguing. I forgot that everyone on youtube is always right and I'm always wrong. You even have all the insults to prove that you're right.

  • Last I heard he got busted for cocaine.. not steroids...

In fact, I don't think any top gymnasts have been caught using steroids in the last few years, which is in contrast to several other sports.

People always "suspect" steroid use. It makes their failures seem more acceptable. It's easy to label someone as having good genetics or taking steroids. It's not easy to work hard, accept the possibility of failure, and get somewhere.

  • @mailmepizza Nice dude, nice. I don't think that i've come across a more mature humble comment on youtube yet. You're definitely going places, lol.

  • His chest/back is so wide! Ripped son, amazing. I would like to hop on some rings and get buff like him but I need some stepping stones. I can't do much of anything on just a rope.

  • He looks like a successful bodybuilder but he's so much stronger than the typical bodybuilder...

I gotta get myself a pair of rings

  • all gymnastis of that level supplement their workouts with weight training... duH!

  • No they don't. Duh!

    Gymnasts don't do any weights.

And to qualify my statement, my brother was training for Olympic Trials when he tore something in his shoulder while doing rings, which was his specialty event - the strength moves. He did his entire strength routine with gymnastics conditioning, never hit the weights. When he went in though he could stack the machines and lift more than meatheads twice his size.

(I'm one of the meatheads in the weight gym all the time)

  • NO do czego to?

  • Yuri, Yuri, why the hell did you use cocaine? For Christ sake, there is no chance to get an Olympic Gold whatsoever now... That's a shame

  • @egorych

    Cocaine is nice

  • he looks depressive to me.

people that suffer from depression look for stimuli as cocaine or alcool

  • @igalflint:.......i always wonder how much nonsense + harm is spread around the world by self proclaimed psycho-analysts who want to know at first sight if someone´s depressive or what the fuck.....the whole genre of cheap psycho-analysis is like reading cards......obsolete superfluous nonsense !

It has more to do with own inner superstition and Lebensangst than anything else !

  • people i know u having a topic on agility vs strenght......so i think anybody who wants both should go for boxing.......u have stamina strenght and agility all at once......

  • Even better, do Muay Thai. A good coach will provide some of the most intense workouts possible.

  • that is very interesting. is there any articles on this stuff. i sure would love to read more on it. i am debating wethere i should put my kids on gymnastics or weightlifting.

  • do gymnastics

better for endurance, balance, and over all body strength

have you ever seen a weightlifter go from an iron cross to a planche? i didn't think so

  • why would you want your kids to do weightlifting?

  • i was a weightlifter first. i was able to perform alot of the element. because weights helped me out alot in the strength area. i am not a gymnast, i just tried some of the stuff they did.

anyway, how do they measure a gymnast strength compared to a weightlifters strength. do they make the gymnast lift weights.

  • To begin with, what specific elements were you able to perform? Just being able to perform some simple elements doesn't really mean anything. Secondly, yeah, they measure a gymnast's strength by having them lift weights. Gymnasts who had practiced for multiple years could deadlift (just one example) twice, or even triple their own bodyweight.

  • he lits his own body and that's enough.

he works out not with something (out side of him ) but with his own self

    Know thiself !

igal flint- Spartan Gymnastic coach( since 1983)

  • fansy the famous are you a gymnast. what you mean by ordinary weightlifter. i have been doing both most of my life. i don't think gymnast are way stronger than weightlifters. i don't think there is any research on that to back it up.

  • LOL alfredtink yes I ama gymnast, but I'm not being arrogant, I am not talking about myself. I am not biased, because I weightlifted for 2 years before starting gymnastics, and could not do a SINGLE element, not one. Furthermore, if you read any interviews with gymnastic coaches, fitness experts, when they talk about gymnasts, they will refer to their strength, which is superior to that of weightlifters.

  • @FansyTheFamous they could never be as strong as a weightlifter. The feats they perform are due to specific skill training in addition to great relative strength, but nowhere near a weightlifters.Any coach with a brain would tell you that.

  • @FansyTheFamous billysue2 is right, weightlifted have much better absolut strength but of course cannot do a iron cross cos of their weight and none specific training

  • @FansyTheFamous Gymnastic feats don't come from raw strength alone. To say that gymnasts have superior strength to weightlifters is absolutely absurd. At the end of the day, they're not standing with 200 kilos above their heads. Both types of athletes garner much respect and admiration from me, though.

  • @FansyTheFamous Depends on which type of strength your speaking of. As far as absolute strength goes olympic lifters are far stronger. Even speaking in relative strength terms, they are capable of generating greater force. What makes gymnasts impressive is their ability to maintain such high levels of physical exertion for long periods of time.

Olympic lifters dominate man. Did you know that in the 2000 olympics the 2 fastest athlete's over 40 metres were an olympic lifter and a hammer thrower?

  • it's not impossible, tho. it depends on genetics

  • that's not true at all, alfredtink. you can get a body like that without doing weight training. Weight lifting does not carry over in any significant amount to gymnastics. Gymnasts are WAAAAAY stronger than any ordinary weight lifter can get.

  • i dont even know what to do with this.

  • Is his body comparable to Mrs Olynpia??

  • Yuri is a really muscled gymnast!

  • What kind of nutritional program do gymnasts follow? Just your basic balanced diet?

  • gymnasts are strongest, most muscular, good looking atheltes. I used to do gymnastics teh ngave it up cz i tohught it was for girls (all i ever saw on tv was gmynastics, and it was girls on the beam...) i regret it badly cz i was so flexible and had good strength, had i not gave it up....

  • now thats an image of pure muscle

  • that's just right!

sound muscules and sound structure built through gymnastics for decades ! without the use of a mirror!without all that self-admiration thing that most of muscle builders do inside of a gym!

muscules with excellent fibers plus flexibility, power, balance,a lot of courage, concentration, strength, body and mind consciousness, and so much more to it.

there is no comparrison between this results and what we see inside of a gym(artificial guys walking like robots)

  • thats right too! :P :D

  • Since when is cocaine a steroid???

  • this guy has admitted using steroids,

pretty sad but he still rocks!!

  • for all you fucking idiots, some one who takes steroids would be like jay cutler and etc, fucking morons dont know that he is a ring speacialis, honestly jackasses, do you all know how much he trains a day, did you know that if you eat more protein you develope more muscles, or did not one of you fucking graduate? fucking idiots i swear

  • though you are correct in your reasoning microsoft you could phrase it a little nicer = )

  • Im sorry, its just frustrating how most americans are losing education.

  • I understand how you feel, though my "idol" in fitness is an american named Ross Enamait (I am swedish). He's truly inspirational and gives away quite a lot of advice for free on rosstraining(.)com. He has helped me alot, both in developing my own fitness and learning how to help others = )

  • this guy has the most beautiful fucking body, limber lean huge. but thats what happens when u swing on rings all day lol

  • what a fucking nutted

    henchh lol
