This is the best version of The ballad of Sweeney Todd I've ever heard! 'Truely' I get creeped out at '' No one can save you, nothing can hide you! Isn't that Sweeney there beside you!? ''.
OMG!!!! I love u Robert2008 4 puttig in that last scene: "AT LAST! My arm is complete again!" that's the MOST EPIC SCENE FROM A MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XDDDDD
Ah, scary, I love it! <3 They totally should have kept this song in the movie. It would have made it 'scarred for life' level of quality instead of just 'scarred for several years.' :D
This song was in the movie, but it was an instrumental (the opening credits). Plus, if they actually staged actors to sing it, the movie would've been just a musical on film instead of a film adaptation of a musical.
what Boogie1188 said as well as this fact; they wanted to keep the idea of him being a murderer for later in the movie. he didn't want them to give it away right away, now did he?
because of Sweeney Todd, i now have a reasonable distrust of barbers, people who have razors, people who live above pie shops, anyone with the name Sweeney, Todd, Lovett, Benjamin, or Barker, and of Fleet Street, not to mention anyone living on Fleet Street.
I'm not really sure if he was real, It could have been Real, If you go to london there is a real Fleet Street and Mrs. Lovetts and Sweeney Todds shops were not one building, they were also burying the remains of the bodies at the church in the middle of their shops, They (Lovett and Todd) were known to be lovers and Mrs. Lovetts real name was never mentioned because she had LOTS of them. I went on a tour in london and that was the story, His chair also didn't fall backwards but it spinned around
I researched the story many times online; it's sad....they were caught and both sent to prison, where mrs. lovett killed herself and sweeney was hanged. :'( it said they were charged with over 100 murders.
i believe it i dont care if people call me weird but really do believe it. Sweeney Todd is my boyfriends fave movie and i watched with him for the first time. It kinda creeped me out but i believe it
Yeah, I read up about the supposed "real" Sweeney Todd, and it definitely had nothing to do with a wife or a daughter and then splitting up for fifteen years. That's just the play version. The real Sweeney was just crazy, and a killer who lived on Fleet Street in the 1700s. He used the crypts under the street near St.Pauls church to finish off his victims and all. Crazy shit lol. Who knows if it's FOR REAL, but could be. I've been to fleet street!! :D
I belive that Sweeney was real. Some people think It's stupid to think that but lots of bad things happened to him and I belive it! His wife had been given poison and someone took his daughter and for no reason sent him to the other side of the world! I'd be pretty mad if that happened to me! lol
I agree Sweeney Todd is real, times were desperate in victorian London. He could of easily done all this and the back story about his wife killing herself when he was jailed is posible
Actually, the basis of the story COULD be real, it's a sort or urban legand, but the romance (him being sent to prison, his wife taking poison, mrs Lovett being in love with him, Anthony etc.) was made up by the author of the book that was based on the legand.
there really was, like how people thought there wasnt a jack ripper same thing. the story is slightly over exagerrated but trust me there was one. ive been to the fleet street in london theyve turned the barber shop into like a museum.
-BrickInTheHead- That was the sound at the beginning of the play before they sang taht song. Wasn't it also the sound they used when he killed someone? Or at least...when someone was killed? I saw parts of the play version here on YT, but I saw the movie. Look at my previous comments about the movie, and you'll see that I absolutely love the film! My channel page is all Sweeney Todd, too. That video was great! I ought to favorite this...
Yep, the whistle blows every time Sweeney kills someone, and at the beginning of this song. I saw the play in November, and I really wanna go see it again!!

@ArtGal216 They did in the opening credits, it was just an instrumental version because Tim Burton felt that it was too "Theatrical".

The movie soundtrack. in the film they kept this song but cut the vocals for the opening title.
Robert2008 2 years ago
Which I think was a huge mistake; it was a good film but if they had kept the chorus parts in it would have been perfect.
