actually, GW took a lot of their designs from WWI and WWII. The Imperial Space Ships from Battle Fleet Gothic are supposed to look a little like the old Naval Vessels from WWI and II
well yes...GW admitted the design for the landraider was taken off a WW1 tank (cant remember the exact name atm) but there you go, WW1 tanks were the inspiration. so no wonder
