Man, I remember watching every minute late at night here in Germany. This was the greatest team ever to play basketball and no one will ever come close to Michael Jordan.
I remember this series....and I tell you what : I really felt sorry for the Jazz because they deserved it too. They have the best crowd ever, but this was not enough and Stockton and Malone couldn`t make it against the whole Bulls team.Respect for both teams for this amazing games in this series !!!
Marv Albert and Tate George were hands down the best commentators for this series! Bob Costas and Isaiah were rubbish! Marv and Tate did an absolutely magnificent job but all that is up on Youtube is the NBC Rubbish! ESPN owned everyone else with their coverage of the 98 Finals.
Jerry Sloan is a great coach, but I'll never understand the logic of putting Shandon Anderson on Michael Jordan. There is obviously nothing good that can come out of that match up!
MJ still yelling at pippen after he made a clutch 3, i love MJ but that was a bitch move, had that been kobe, he would get crucified my the media. i think MJ is the greatest ever but in that particular moment he acted like a spoiled bitch
MJ is notorious as one of the mega assholes the NBA has ever seen. He was already riding or talking shit to someone. (or attacking his own teammates in practice lol)
I was looking for this game to show just how Jordan can be when he doesn't get the ball. Talk about full of himself! Pippen still hit the three. I think Jordan complained about Pippen shooting it too early so the Jazz don't have another shot at the basket. But give Pip' some credit for the score. Jordan doesn't need all the glory
i'm glad you said that cos i feel ppl have objectivity when it comes to mj. if any other player had shouted at there teamate after he makes a shot the media would say "he's so selfish" but when mj does it costas says "what a competitor". I love and respect jordan just as much as anyone but I feel he gets a pass on everything
how about scottie pipen hanging on the rim to block a shot. howard eisleys 3 pointer taken away, michael jordan wiping way russell for the final shot. sacramento had it done to them in the 2002 lakers wcf.. it's all rigged! dont' waste time watching the nba.. go plant a flower and watch it grow!
How about the countless illegal picks Malone set..elbows Stock would throw...the refs miss calls all the time. Jordans little tap on the ass had no effect on Russell; he completely bit on that drive. No way he would've recovered to contest the shot. I agree that Eisley's shot shoulda counted though. But to be fair Utah should never have been down 3-1, how strong they were that year. If only they'd shown up for Game 3.
Refs handed the Bulls game 6 by giving Ron Harper a 3-pointer he shot after the buzzer, and taking Howard Eisley's 3-pointer away that was shot clearly before the buzzer. (6 point swing and Bulls won by 1 point). Who knows how game 7 would have gone, but regardless the refs helped the Bulls win #6.
I remember I was 11 years old when I watched this game.I'll never forget that atmosphere-Jordan and company put the fingers in their ears during the introduction of Jazz players...and when Pippen threw his chewing gum at the end of the game,,,amazing
It must be a Dream to play in front of the Crowd at the Delta Center.I am from Germany and Fan of the Jazz and I think this Franchise deserved a Championship !!!
I also just wanted to say, that it was such a shame to see Malone & Stockton from the Jazz go their careers without getting a ring, they were so deserving of one. But unfortunately for them they and their Jazz team they just couldn't shake those damn Chicago Bulls.
The Bulls would have steamrolled had they had rest. This series should have been a sweep...because after this loss Jordan and the Bulls started dominating this series.
i remember when the Bulls lost game 1 and at the press conference, Scottie and MJ were laughing like they won, like they weren't worried at all. MJ was like, "im going to practice playing the piano".
Marv why?!! Whhhhhhhhyyyyyyyy did you bite that woman, it could been u in place of bob costas in MJ's last year with the Bulls, it could have been u in MJ's last game in Madison Square Garden making those crazy shots and rockin the AJ 1's scoring 42 points, it could have been u in the 98 allstar game when MJ scored 23 and won MVP, it could have been u in Utah in game 6 watching MJ do what kobe cant do in the final seconds. not hatin on u bob, but the NBA glory days belong to MJ and Marv Albert.
AgentCirrus, i agree. Marv over Bob anyday. Costas is just terrible and annoying. Hatin' on him has nothing to do with it, it's just the plain out truth.
@Chihouse23 Yeah Costas is annoying. Especially nowadays sinces he's supposedly "retired" from broadcasting, yet he still puts himself in certain big situations for example calling Strasburg's first major league start.
foremily23, when you post game 4 of this series, MJ did a crossover on Byron Russell, very similar to his famous last shot in game 6. Russell fell on the crossover that MJ did on him in game 4. I posted the clip on my channel so people can see that Russell's fall on the last shot probably had nothing to do with MJ using his off hand.
The replay at 3:36 was poetry in motion. MJ's footwork and gracefullness capped off with a sweet fingerroll was a thing of beauty. His creativity in mid-air was unbelievable. One of my favorite moves by MJ was his right-to-left handed switch in mid-air back in the 91' finals. His moves were breathtaking, just look at the faces of the opponents and that too will tell the story all to itself.
and I take issues with something Bob Costas said in the intro... he said the Bulls are the king of the NBA "but someday, someone will dethrone them."
well, sure, someone eventually beat the Chicago Bulls...but NO ONE ever beat these Chicago Bulls... and the way I see it, the Chicago Bulls ceased to exist after the 1997-98 season.
yea someone did dethrone them foremily23, their stupid gm jerry krause. wat happen after that. get the number 1 pick and draft elton brand who's no longer with the bulls. trade pippen away. he was the one that dethrone the bulls.
reason y i hate this guy. this chicago team was good for another 2 yrs or so. 9 champ in my opinion if Krause never broke up the bulls.
I agree. I think Costas was sure the Jazz'd beat the Bulls in '98 'cause he had a feeling the Bulls were getting old AND the Jazz beat the Bulls TWICE that year during the regular season!!
But he should've known better!! After witnessing 5 NBA finals with the Bulls he should've known the Bulls were a different, more hungry, more focussed team in the playoffs and ready for whatever!!
@ForEmily23 yes but they should have been dethroned eventually if jerry krause had let them continue to chase titles. krause being a jackass is what ended the run, no one on the bulls wanted to stop after 98
utah has great crowds. that stadium gets loud. chicago in the united center wasnt the same as the old chicaog stadium. the old chicago stadium was loud.

Everyone talks about Jordan and justifiably so, but Scottie was so great and one of the most underrated players imo.
He could shoot, pass, dribble the ball, rebound, such an all around great player, the bulls wouldn't of did what they did without pip.
