I remember reading in the paper at the time when the contest for getting the lyrics right was out. People made mistakes like "shuttle craft comes to Troi" and "telepathic babe-zoids." Funny I still remeber that.

I'm looking for the commercial from Spike TV (actually the channel before it was renamed Spike). Two guys sitting at a conference table with a poster of a female Klingon with big boobs. One guy says to the other: "Hey, would you...?" (insinuating banging her)

I have been looking for this forever! I remember seeing this in college. The best part was the very end, where Riker and Picard look at each other as the bridge moves up. This version shrinks the scene into a box unfortunately.

me too. that's my 2nd favorite billy joel song, its no piano man, but still good. i didn't appreciate it much at the time it originally aired, but once i caught more TNG reruns i searched frantically for this ad with no luck. i could still remember the tune, and most of the lyrics...finally i took a long shot and emailed the guy from wxxa. ahh...it's a good memory.

After watching this through, this is unfortunately a newer version, mid 90's after the show was in nightly reruns. The original was all footage from S1 and 2, advertising first run new weekly episodes.

This was a regional promo at Fox 23 in the Upstate NY area. I remember this like it was yesterday! A year later, they ran a contest, people who could sing the song word for word won a T-Shirt if I remember.

Want to hear a real mindjob? Remember how old the original series was when TNG started? Star Trek TNG is older today than the original series was in 1987 when TNG started! Wow! We all feel old now!
