Incorrect. The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 meters per second PER SECOND.

@badsalad313 If something went 9.8 meters per second, it would never be getting any slower or faster, making 9.8 m/s a velocity. The equation for acceleration is velocity/time. In other words, (meters/second) / (seconds). That would make the units for acceleration meters per second squared. Digshark is also right to an extent. 9.8m/s^2 is gravity rounded to the hundreth place as opposed to the tenth.

@donjonify Well, yeah, of course 9.8 m/s could be a velocity, like any other number... except he says "gravity is 9.8 m/s", and it would make no sense to say gravity pulls things at a specific velocity, unless he meant that as gravity's acceleration. Ah, my mistake though, I phrased that wrong.. but, by meters per second per second, I meant (m/s)/s... just didn't put parentheses around the words for clarification, I suppose, haha.
