Bareback riding is very very useful, if you have only used a saddle, having a go at bareback really shows your balance and it helps me when I get back in the saddle. When you do bareback you naturally keep the weight in your legs and work your core muscles :D have a go if you can!!

It's sad people can't tell this horse is an Arabian. He's GORGEOUS, and his tail is the part that gives it away. I love riding Arabs that are trained Western, in an English saddle.

My TWH/TB cross has a good trot to post to, but he has so many different speeds that I can get him to do. His canter is GORGE though. Sometimes at shows I think the judge places me well just because of it, cause he'll pick up the wrong lead or something, I'll fix it, then I'll glance at the judge and he's like staring in awe <3

His stride is sooooo long, and he covers a lot of ground. It's not uber fast, but it's like a medium speed.

i rode bareback for the first time yesterday!! it was a wobbly blast lol!! it will definitly help with balence. it was amazing riding bareback!! i only did walk\ trot though since it was my fist time. the only down fall of riding bareback, is that my thighs are hurting today lol

@fullthrottttle they do make bareback pads you can sit on.  It's not completely bareback, but your not in a saddle and it's better than sitting on a bony horse.

yes. monty is an arabian. ur rite. well it kinds depends on ur question. that could apply to any horse. arabian tend to be alot more highstrung than other horses. like for example, it seems the longer i ride monty the more energy he gets. its like he doesnt get tired. he could run for days if i let him.

I have used him for barrel racing and pole bending and he does great. sure he cant run quite as fast as a quarter horse and he doesnt have quite as sharp as turns, he does just as well in placing. they're really versitle too. like now we're practicing jumping for the first time and he's almost 14 yrs old and he's always been western. so yeah, i think u'll enjoy an arabian. =]]]

Your great a bareback riding. Because the horse that I ride has such a fast pace and large stride, it's hard for me to ride bareback. Plus, I'm terrible at it. But you're great. I like the way you get off too. I would do something like that if I didn't get ground shock every time I did it. I ride a 16.1 hand tall Breeding Stock Paint, so just riding bareback and getting off I get ground shock. It hurts.

ok RachieRae241 its not hard to ride bareback at all as long a you have a good seat in saddle you will do fine bareback its about seat and not about using reains for balance and gripping onto the horse for balance so its not hard at all to people who have a good seat undersaddle and jsut a comment to the rider of this when you egt off espicially make sure your facing the way the horse is when you dismount

Actually, it depends on your horse. You might have one of the well trained, slow paced western pleasure horses which makes bareback riding easy. But like me, who rides a larger horse, it's diffcult. Saddle riding and bareback riding are totally different.

yeah im used to riding a 14.3 quarter horse or a 15 hand quarter horse/app and then i rode a 15.3 app and she is a total idiot and now i ride her all the time.. shes one of the horses who got away with alot as a younger horse and she sees a palmtree and goes up to it sniffs it and then 10 min later you ride her past it and she spooks at it [and sorry the last comment i meant to put 15.3 not 15.4] and i jump her ALOT but then she is really good somedays then other shes an idiot shes just stupid

I agree. if your light enuff (which you are) small ponies can hold tall riders as long as you treat their back right. I ride a pont and im 5' 6" (something like that, mabe even shorter) and i use a synthetic western saddle to help keep the weight down on her back, and when we ride hard i use liniment and rub her back and legs.
