  • THIS IS A FAVORITE OF MINE.. I HAVE A RECORDED VERSION BY GEORGE OLSEN...HE PLAYED MANY FUN SONGS LIKE THIS ONE. IT IS GREAT TO HEAR IT ON YOUR PIANO. WHAT A NICE COLLECTION YOU HAVE. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THEM.

  • A great old Staffnote roll.... don't see too many of those around these days. A great old piano too.... Thanks!

  • @Pianosyncrazy I agree that this is a great roll, however it is definitely a Connorized roll and not a Staffnote roll.

Staffnote rolls were made by the Billings Roll Co. in Wisconsin in the 1920s (and possibly also early 1930s). They also made "Play-Rite" brand rolls (not to be confused with the more recent Play-Rite company in California which took the brand name). The Staffnote rolls have an actual musical staff printed in the margin, with the melody notes on it! [...]

  • @KawhackitaRag i would have loved to have owned this.

  • @Pianosyncrazy P.S. There was no description when I made those comments.

  • @Pianosyncrazy [...] this is a Connorized "Uke" roll (I believe... I can't remember the exact brand name or trademark they used), and does NOT have a musical staff. What you see in the left margin are chord charts for strumming a ukelele along with the roll. These rolls, although somewhat scarce today, are a terrific way to learn old 1920s songs on the ukulele, with vocals! [...]

  • @Pianosyncrazy [...] After practicing with a Connorized Uke roll enough times, you should be able to sing all the lyrics to that particular song and strum the right chords on the ukelele! Soon, you won't even need the assistance of the piano, and you can go out to your local coffee shop and entertain at open mike night!!!

  • @KawhackitaRag Thats what I love about these Youtube piano roll videos... one can learn so much from the comments. Thanks for your input. Never saw a UKE roll before, and now I have. You are right of course... and while I already knew all you had said about Staffnote rolls and did not need an education in that regard, I failed to let the fact that the staff was on the left and not showing melody sink in and question what I thought. Many Thanks! This is even rare than I thought.

  • A great o9ld Staffnote roll.... don't see too many of those around these days. Thanks!

  • This a very nice old roll and also very different than the usual for this period. Thanks for you nice old rolls!
