Anyway, I want a 30-round magazine because it's cool to me and it's fun and convenient to go shooting with. Banning large magazines will do nothing. If someone wants it bad enough, they will get it somehow. The probelm isn't that some people are armed, it's that so many people are helpless. Shootings like this would rarely happen if the shooter thought someone might shoot back.
And no, I'm nowhere near conservative.

@rickeagle Shooters like that don't think and may be wanting to be a suicide by cop. I will add that Eleanor Roosevelt (and at least one freedom rider that I know of) carried a five or six round revolver in the south (even when the Klan had a contract out on her) and they faced real danger. As a life tree hugging country boy and long shooter, the idea of untrained suburbanites or urbanites walking around armed is asinine.

I agree, rickeagle. As was seen in some of his letters, Loughner planned on dying. The fact that everyone is armed and might kill you if you try something like what Loughner did has no meaning when you're a)already unhenged and b) prepared to die. I still have to ask, Arizona being an open-carry state, WHERE WERE THE COWBOYS?! How come the Duke didn't come to Christina Green's rescue?!

I can't turn to another child and think "well, little one, sorry to say but there's just no reason to expect that you'll never get shot, because I can't see a world with stricter laws on gun proliferation and I loves my guns too much."

Of course, nothing can prevent criminals from getting guns as long as there's a "free market" that sees a profitable market in making them easily available. But the final conclusion to EVERYONE having guns is just allowing everyone to have their own thermo-nuclear device and just induce M.A.D. policy over civilian society. Everyone will act right when everyone has the ability to nuke their own state. That is, until a mentally unstable person nukes us because we use "fiat money".

Everyone having guns being a deterrent to anyone using guns or committing a crime is nothing more than M.A.D. for firearms. "If you don't try to harm me, I won't try to harm you". So everyone's safe.
The Constitution only guarantees a "right to bear ARMS". "Arms" encompass anything from a sword, to a gun, to a thermo-nuclear device.
Everyone having nukes would render the same effect using gun-nut logic: "If you don't try to nuke me, I won't try to nuke you". So everyone's safe.

Also, we're talking about a state where EVERYONE is allowed to carry a gun openly. In the news reports, one person had a gun and arrived late on the scene . . . and nearly shot a cop. Now something tells me that would not have helped the situation at all. Loughner was eventually subdued - not by the modern day Doc Holliday, but by an UNARMED citizen that tackled him while he was trying to reload. Everyone being armed won't stop the killing and thus no one is any safer.

Yeah, uniformed and sitting down. They knew who to shoot first. Civilians aren't uniformed, so the shooter wouldn't KNOW who is armed.
If I want to play with 30 round magazines, I should be able to. If a shooter wants a 30, no, 100-round magazine, they'll get it, banned or not. If they want a fully-automatic AK-47, they'll get it, banned or not. If someone wants to kill people, they're not going to think "Oh, this is illegal, I better not use THIS to kill 30 innocent people."

understand that there were posters like that during Bush/Cheney that say wanted for treason. Lets just be honest, obviously it was a different context but we need to get even deeper and more specific than just the birch society. We have supremacists, nationalists, confederates, neo-nazis and the kkk strongly influencing the propaganda on the far right and in the now modern conspiracy theories which are based on the beliefs of these groups and promote their propaganda.

Its funny how they started off talking about how the parties need to stop spreading hate, but they go into all the hateful things the right wing has done, as if that is gonna make things better. I dont think conservatives spread "hate" talk through their radio shows, but their opinions. Also, I feel like liberals make up on television, except fox news, which receives their fair share of hate from everyone else.
