Any conflict or degradation of human life in the Islamic world is purely to do with cultural practices, even if they are contrary to religion. A well known example would be women not being allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. The background to that is that in pre islamic times they were forbidden to ride horses or camels, a form of discrimination which has now been applied to the motor vehicle. No such law exists in Islam.
