What jimi's version is showing the national anthem of america but showing its real side, under the whole facade with all the distortion noises, most beautiful sounds in my life...
@USAmadeinchina i am truly sorry for offending you, even though i dont know you , i am sorry for the statements i made, next time if there is one i will choose my words more wisely and remember not to insult people, such as yourself.....................again i am sorry for what i started.
god bless the troops and all that they fought for our freedoom. jimi hendrix is an icon in the world of rock and roll. we will never forget these touching photos. god bless america.
@sabbathgodsofmetal Yup, music did more for civil rights, womens rights etc then all the politricks, religious leaders combind. Look at Ray Charles who left a concert venue b/c of segregated seating plus other ppl, what they've done, havent done in the name of freedom, civil rights etc.
@sabbathgodsofmetal yeah thats whne music was real and you needed talent like this great man, unlike today where anyone can go on a computer and make there own song
@1971Chevelle502 yea man im taking guitar lessons right now and my teacher has an app on his phone and he just took a few notes from Crazy Train and put a beat and made a song to show how pointless it is
I was just going to say Hendrix's version of the anthem was supposed to be a political commentary on Vietnam. Notice after the lines "And the rockets red flair" as well as "the bombs bursting in air" he does a bunch of really distorted slides with wah. It's supposed to sound like B2s and napalm, etc.
@CrOsTh1 go screw yourself you uneducated prick. People watching this might have lost their sons or daughters and your say to boycott them? what a douche bag
@seanlaffy what is america doing in Afganistan, everybody know that is because of money. You need to ask yourself some questions. Uneducated ,not relly.
@CrOsTh1 ok. i dont ask myself questions cause i dont talk to myself... weirdo. and who knows what we are doing over there. i didnt say i agree with the war did i? no. but i used to be in the military. i know the passion for standing up for your country when others dont. and maybe go out and thank a solider, airmen, marine, or sailor. because without them you wouldnt be able to speak your mind on the internet. dumbass.
@seanlaffy we wouldnt be able to speak your mind on the internet??? Man we fought for that 40 years ago. Now we must strive for peace. USA should help poor nations and not fight there only because of PROFIT.
@CrOsTh1 what the hell profit are we gaining? we are spending more money defending them! lets do this. think of the countries we helped liberate. Saudi arabia... bye sadam ( ya know the guy who killed boarder line millions) iraq... bye osama (ya know the guy who killed boarder line millions and who also set up the worst attack on american soil) and now ghdafi is gone. thanks to who? the USA. now those ocuntries are free from dictators who shoot people in the streets for no reason. Get a clue.
@seanlaffy USA did a good job in lybia, but what about afganistan, thousands tanks, million bombs, death murder blood practically for no reason. In USA more people die of peanut allergy than terrorism. War profiteers are only one who have benefits from 80% wars. I think that USA should invest more money to medicine than soldiers. I hope you understand what am i trying to tell you. LESS WAR MORE PEACE AND EDUCATION.
CrOsTh1@ did you not read anything i just wrote. we killed all 3 dictators in the middle east. thats what we did, and young american kids sacrificed their life for that cause. no one put a gun to their head and said sign up and go kill. they enlisted freely. to support us and our country and more importantly DEMOCRACY! with them gone kids can finally go to school. get food. live without fear. Thanks to the usa. open your eyes and stop being so one sided.
@CrOsTh1 Boycott the Military? The very people that have prevented us from speaking german or japanese, the fact that if it hadnt been for our military alot of us wouldnt even be here? Sounds like a demonic islamic country is more your speed. Go live amongst them and see how well it is for ya, see how quickly you would cry to come back to the United Sates.

This is so so deep. Most people didn't approve of Jimi's music & didn't approve of him doing the star spangled banner... BUT FACT: Jimi Hendrix was airborne and out of all performs i believe he deserves a little respect..... You have respect from your unit....
GREAT SONG!!! LAND OF THE FREE AND HOME OF THE BRAVE!!! thank you to all of you that give your time, bodies and lives to making sure we can make music like this, to making sure that we can sit here and bitch about being Americans.... Im sorry that some ppl are ungrateful, but know that there are those of us in the US that take pride in our men and women at arms...... and we love each and every single one of you! with out you, we wouldnt be here!
one of the greatest sets in music history. jimmy is and always will be the only true master of the electric guitar. you can hear his feelings in the music if you are actually listening.
In his own words,,All I'm saying is this is the way I feel in our time now this should be played, not to disrespect or tarnish, I mean it's really about how you feel about something and put it to music. That's what makes music so great .!! I say he played with color and emotion that touched my soul. I could not thank him enough in a million life times...RIP Jimi..we love you....There
This always chokes me up. It's an American moment. It's an amazing artistic accomplishment. It communicates plainly, yet transcends our ability to put it into words (as the best music does). And it happened 8 miles from where I live. A must-have for the 4th of July!
Oh my God, when will we EVER learn? Thank you God for protecting our souls. Thank you men, women and children of the armed forces for protecting our freedom!
@GuyWithBluePoop I was there, I was a pot head, along with some other things. Not only did we know what was going on, we busted our asses to get equality for women and blacks, and we also busted our asses so that you were not drafted and sent to war. Even the homeless people could sit and intelligently discuss politics. Sorry I just don't see that today.
@Beverlyjaneification And why do you think that is? Don't be so easy to cast blame on others, with out looking at why society is the way it is today. If you really were there, and knew what was going on in 1960's you wouldn't have that kind of attitude. You might as well have not been there, because based on your comment you learned nothing.
@Beverlyjaneification you sound like every old person from every generation that needs to think they did it better. At your age, you are probably questioning your mortality and need to put a special value on your life or what was it all for??? i promise, we're 'bringing' it just as hard as you and everyone before you...
@ganjalovegoddess Hell YEAH we're bringing...you need to talk to some American under 35...we just ignore antiquated ideas. Plus I think it was you're generation that started all this SHIT we're going to have to clean up anyways!
@Beverlyjaneification I certainly have to agree with your closing sentence. My generation is just going to throw everything that all of our founders and our forefathers fought for and its a sickening thought. Apparently, Glee is a bigger topic at the moment than the fact that our constitution being phased out but I guess that's what I have to expect when only 10% of High School seniors 4 years behind me can pass a U.S. Citizenship test as well as the actual course that follows the same criteria.
@DoctorBackHand The constitution is not being phased out any more now than before. Stop spreading fear. You clearly dont know what you are talking about. Stop listening to news so much and actually read a book.
@Beverlyjaneification Never seen a productive hippy maybe some have good intentions but yall never get anything done.
Not blaiming you if I sat around and smoked pot all day everyday Id be idealistic but to lazy to accomplish my goals to. Last time I checked it wasnt the hippys that brought equality to blacks and women yall werent dodgeing the draft for anything noble yall just didnt want to go not blaiming you but dont suger coat it
Also never met a homlessman who could disscuss politics
@DrumBumRyley You realize the Hippy movement in Texas was fairly large and to this day Houston is nearly as useless as San Fran these days.
Im simply sayin the truth my grandma was a hippy ran away to cali when she was 16 stayed there through the 60s and 70s till she finally sobered up got a job and started contributing. Nothing more selfish then sitting around doing nothing all day whineing about the world. Bein from Texas has nothing to do with it
@TexianPride Your goals? Well when you accomplish all your "goals" and are put in the ground like a sack of shit you will have accomplished exactly the same as that homeless guy on the street, nothing. You are worthless man just like every other human on earth, accept it shut the fuck up and enjoy hendrix.
@WeDieYoung1991 lol when I wake up I got to work I provide a service I acually do somthing no matter how small and insignifigant. I at least attempt do somthing in the here and now who gives a fuck if I left an imprint on the planet that will exist for thousands of years at least I am contributeing to soceiety in the here and now. Unlike most of the idiots on this video talking about how great hippys were and what they did for the world.
@Beverlyjaneification Welcome to the most apathetic generation ever... And you're hearing that from a nineteen year old. I am sick of the absolute selfish and apathetic behavior carried out by my peers. But not all hope is lost, because there are a select few that actually care about getting involved and making a difference whether it be militarily, socially, politically, or whatever.
@Beverlyjaneification U busted ur ass? Doing what? sitting around, smoking pot while abandoning ur country in her time of need. U busted ur ass disrespecting the men and women brave enough to defend the freedoms that u pissed on. U busted ur ass spitting on the returning veterans that are now homeless because of the lack of support they recieved from u. Gee thanks a fucking lot. We all appreciate it.
@2013DevilDog The hippies revolutionized the world. They went against a nation that told everyone they had to worship their government and not question it. I respect soldiers. But those who create war (U.S. Government) are the reason the soldiers are now homeless. And atleast he takes pride in his grammar
@NvmBollocks That homeless Vets thing is bull, the reason they're homeless is because they're druggies and pot heads. My dad was in Nam and all his friends that were their all have homes and jobs and are living just fine, and soldiers now a days have homes too. It is sad to see them like that but its the truth and they're homeless because of themselves
@1971Chevelle502 To me there should not be such a thing as a Homeless Vet, to me that is beyond shameful,It is totally asinine. These Men and Ladies put life, limb, and their psychological well being on the line for America and how to we say thank you?by letting them live in squallor or sleep on the ground or under a bridge.
@Airsoftcleaner I didnt say it was right its terrible and they should be helped, but the problem with this country is everyone thinks for themselves and not others
@1971Chevelle502 I know I was not assuming that you thought homelessness was right just venting and you are right, America has become very, very selfish.
If you were not at Woodstock, if your draft number was over 250, if you were not in the streets May 4 after they killed 4 at Kent State, I'll forgive you, but then you missed the core or the revolution and have no concept of the PEACE MOVEMENT!!!,
ok....i have a confession. i always thought this sucked. noise and feedback and couldn't understand why it was hailed as so damn great. The break down at the top explaining the craziness totally changed my entire opinion of this recording. Thanks
@ninchick1 If you have the time and are interested in hearing an even more mind blowin master-piece, check out his song Machine Gun (live at fimore east). It has been said many times that Machine Gun was probably (the) greatest electric guitar performance in history.
Kinda think that a lot of the people commenting on this video forget that Hendrix was anti-war. Especially when the CIA admits that they staged the whole thing for heroin 40 years later.
@CarbineKingClassic Like a lot of people he was anti-war but pro-human. And as an ex-soldier himself I have no doubt he would have supported the troops whilst opposing the war.
I wouldn't say I support the troops. I'd say I won't oppose the troops. However, I don't like that the military bombs weddings with drones. I don't like that they use DU tipped ammo. But most of all, I don't like that they're doing it in my name. And I don't like that they lie n say they're "protecting our freedom." They're not. It took the CIA 40 years to admit that they were responsible for the Gulf of Tonkin, but they did it,and I hav no doubt that it'll come out that they blew up WTC
-Do bands like Zeppelin, Floyd, The Doors, Hendrix and the Who give you chills? Are you physically attracted to seeking truth in music? Well I am formally inviting you to take a listen to my channel, relax and let you ears fully enjoy my sound. I would love it if you took the time, they wont leave you disapointed. And in case if you end up liking it, your subscribtion to my channel will help me show the world my music. Much Love.
This is the first musical recording I remembered ever hearing that brought sound to vision, literally! Stevie wonder did it numerous times but JimI?!!! Oh My God did he ever exhibit with this MASTERPIECE! Perhaps the greatest rendition of our Beloved Star Spangle Banner ever played, recorded and witnessed in modern history. Jaw dropping incredible.
@gerryhiles ~ Hey there Mr. Hiles. I wasn't commenting on the political position of this piece. I was focusing my opinion on the musical genious of what Jimi actually did. I "later" became familiar what Jimi's position on this soundtrack was. Hell, the entire Woodstock concert was based on what you described. On August 18, 1969, I was 4 years old sir. At that point in history, I had no clue what the mood of any music was about, let lone politically. However, I understand your point.

That's what makes music so great .!! I say he played with color and emotion that touched my soul. I could not thank him enough in a million life times...RIP Jimi..we love you....There

@xantric1 Sorry, but you and your son are deluded.
He fought for Wall Street, the Big Banks and control of oil by such as Exxon, BP and Shell.
If your son escapes PTSD and unemployment, then he will be FAR luckier than other vets, of Vietnam and ever onwards.'
In what capacity did your son serve xantric. Desk job?
Get a life xantric, take heed of Beverlyjaneification.

This always chokes me up. It's an American moment. It's an amazing artistic accomplishment. It communicates plainly, yet transcends our ability to put it into words (as the best music does). And it happened 8 miles from where I live. A must-have for the 4th of July!

Beverlyjaneification 7 months ago 111
@Beverlyjaneification And why do you think that is? Don't be so easy to cast blame on others, with out looking at why society is the way it is today. If you really were there, and knew what was going on in 1960's you wouldn't have that kind of attitude. You might as well have not been there, because based on your comment you learned nothing.
SixStills 7 months ago
@Beverlyjaneification you sound like every old person from every generation that needs to think they did it better. At your age, you are probably questioning your mortality and need to put a special value on your life or what was it all for??? i promise, we're 'bringing' it just as hard as you and everyone before you...
ganjalovegoddess 7 months ago
@ganjalovegoddess Hell YEAH we're bringing...you need to talk to some American under 35...we just ignore antiquated ideas. Plus I think it was you're generation that started all this SHIT we're going to have to clean up anyways!
lunastorm323 7 months ago
@Beverlyjaneification I certainly have to agree with your closing sentence. My generation is just going to throw everything that all of our founders and our forefathers fought for and its a sickening thought. Apparently, Glee is a bigger topic at the moment than the fact that our constitution being phased out but I guess that's what I have to expect when only 10% of High School seniors 4 years behind me can pass a U.S. Citizenship test as well as the actual course that follows the same criteria.
DoctorBackHand 7 months ago 13

TexianPride 7 months ago
@TexianPride your texan u automatically dislike hippies, therefor your argument is invalid.
DrumBumRyley 7 months ago
@DrumBumRyley You realize the Hippy movement in Texas was fairly large and to this day Houston is nearly as useless as San Fran these days.
Im simply sayin the truth my grandma was a hippy ran away to cali when she was 16 stayed there through the 60s and 70s till she finally sobered up got a job and started contributing. Nothing more selfish then sitting around doing nothing all day whineing about the world. Bein from Texas has nothing to do with it
TexianPride 7 months ago

TexianPride 7 months ago

2013DevilDog 6 months ago
@2013DevilDog The hippies revolutionized the world. They went against a nation that told everyone they had to worship their government and not question it. I respect soldiers. But those who create war (U.S. Government) are the reason the soldiers are now homeless. And atleast he takes pride in his grammar
NvmBollocks 6 months ago
@NvmBollocks That homeless Vets thing is bull, the reason they're homeless is because they're druggies and pot heads. My dad was in Nam and all his friends that were their all have homes and jobs and are living just fine, and soldiers now a days have homes too. It is sad to see them like that but its the truth and they're homeless because of themselves
1971Chevelle502 6 months ago
@1971Chevelle502 To me there should not be such a thing as a Homeless Vet, to me that is beyond shameful,It is totally asinine. These Men and Ladies put life, limb, and their psychological well being on the line for America and how to we say thank you?by letting them live in squallor or sleep on the ground or under a bridge.
Airsoftcleaner 6 months ago
@Airsoftcleaner I didnt say it was right its terrible and they should be helped, but the problem with this country is everyone thinks for themselves and not others
1971Chevelle502 6 months ago

Kinda think that a lot of the people commenting on this video forget that Hendrix was anti-war. Especially when the CIA admits that they staged the whole thing for heroin 40 years later.
CarbineKingClassic 8 months ago
@CarbineKingClassic Like a lot of people he was anti-war but pro-human. And as an ex-soldier himself I have no doubt he would have supported the troops whilst opposing the war.
AK2927 7 months ago 5
@AK2927

Baltimorehop 9 months ago
@Baltimorehop You don't get it do you! Jimi deliberately DESTROYED the "Star Spangled Banner" in protest against Vietnam and US imperialism.
gerryhiles 9 months ago 2
@gerryhiles ~ Hey there Mr. Hiles. I wasn't commenting on the political position of this piece. I was focusing my opinion on the musical genious of what Jimi actually did. I "later" became familiar what Jimi's position on this soundtrack was. Hell, the entire Woodstock concert was based on what you described. On August 18, 1969, I was 4 years old sir. At that point in history, I had no clue what the mood of any music was about, let lone politically. However, I understand your point.
