  • You sir, are the man. Thank you very much!

  • THANK YOU SIR!

  • weldone mate.

  • why doesnt the this work for the sound?\

  • @BlackRacingRox It doesn't work for the sound because the velocity envelope is a video only effect. To sync the sound with the speed change of the video, use use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • I use the velocity line sure... so that speads up the visual, but the audio thats tied with it doesn't speed up, and I can't add a velocity line to audio soo.... how do I fix that?

  • @zzXsc0pesXzz To sync the sound with the speed change of the video, use use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • Hm..I have a random question, do you happen to know how to save a video with the sped up audio? Because I can't Dx

  • @xKirikoChanx3 If the video isn't saving properly, it is usually due to the codec used in the source video. This is a problem usually with mp4/mov/ or highly compressed downloaded videos. If you start with higher quality video, you won't run into problems adding effects or rendering the results.

  • Any way I can make this go faster than 3x? Any method is fine. External plugins? Other functions?

  • @7h3d4rkw0lf Render the sped up section, and reimport the rendered video into the project. Then speed up that section again. Or use the free Virtual Dub software - with it you can speed up 24 hours into 3 minutes or less. I have a tutorial on my site showing how to do it with virtual dub

  • I can not select it. why? please help me

  • @Hugga87 The above uses Sony Vegas Pro. For Sony Movie Studio, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'.

  • @guerillabill Okay thank you very much. your movies on the sony is very appreciative

  • I have 50 minute video Will doing this cut the time down?

  • @AmyBoosh Yes, at max, this will speed up the video by 300%, reducing the video play time to about 1/3 of what it originally is. If you have Sony Movie Studio, use the method I show in my YouTube video 'Speed up Slow Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill thank you! this helped (:

  • Does that mean that the slow motion can be almost the same as the effect that twixtor has?

  • @TheAviationCenter No, while the slow motion in Vegas is good, it is not anywhere near what Twixtor can do. Twixtor actually rebuilds all the frames needed for super slow motion.

  • Ok, so it slowed down in the timeline, but it doesn't slow down in the rendered video.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Hey, when i sped up my video, the sound was still quite a bit off. And also it repeats the video clip over again if the velocity is so high.

  • @thewowgamer100 To sync the sound with the speed change of the video, use use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • Hey, when i sped up my video, the sound was still quite a bit off.

  • thx gramps

  • Thank you so much :) Great video.

  • didnt help at all

  • @Puggelicious Seems to work for everyone else who is using Vegas Pro. If you are using Sony Movie Studio, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'. To zoom into your clips, use the Pan & Zoom control in Sony Vegas and Movie Studio. Search my channel to see how to do that.see

  • @guerillabill i ont know it might just be me but sony vegas has way to many options but thanks for the help :)

  • Thanks.

  • Thank you for teaching me how to do this

  • thanks bro!

  • Hey, I have a problem. I have 5 clips in one project of about 16 minutes. I want to speed it up to 250%, using this 'velocity line' to set every clip at exact 250%. My problem now is that I want to put music below it, but since the clips don't resize, I can't make out how long to make the song so it does not play when the video is over.

I tried using the CTRL+Drag trick from the other video, but it caused the clips to start looping in the final video, having me see the same clip several times.

  • thank you very much!!!!!!^^

  • how about the audio , when i'm doing this the audio doesnt match with video the audio is in normal speed but video is slow please help me

  • @MrR818 To sync the sound with the speed change of the video, use use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • OMG HOW DO I PUT THE SPEED OPTYTION WITH THE "2X speed 1.5X speed and 1/2 speed and 1/4 speed"?!? THATS ALL IM LOOKING FOR!!!!

  • @MrBaby021 Right click on the clip in the timeline, select 'properties', change the 'playback rate' to whatever you want.

  • @guerillabill T_T what are you talking about it sounds like trying to down load 40 mods in one day...

  • For some reason My velocity line (green line won't show up) Also my clips are zoomed out alot, I can hardly see it, Help

  • @BrockObama2772 The above uses Sony Vegas Pro. For Sony Movie Studio, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'. To zoom into your clips, use the Pan & Zoom control in Sony Vegas and Movie Studio. Search my channel to see how to do that.

  • @guerillabill Ya im using Sony Vegas Pro. I noticed when i do it that these small arrows facing down go away from the clip if that helps.

  • @BrockObama2772 Try clicking and dragging the ends of the slider at the bottom. (the VERY ends)

  • Thank you !

  • thats not a ball!

  • @Master192ify After you speed it up to the max, render the video. Then import the rendered video and speed it up again.

  • @guerillabill lolfl

  • Thank you! :]

  • thanks man!now I can sped up lag on the video!:D

  • @BWS777unlucky The lag you see in the preview window is related to your video card, your computer speed, and the video file format. MP4/MOV videos will lag in the preview window more than other formats.

To reduce the lag, change preview window settings to 'preview, auto'. Also make sure the project properties closely match the source video being worked with. To really solve the problem, get a video card with 1024meg.

  • @guerillabill no,I mean,I record in game video, there are alot of physics,so I have to sped it up to make it less lag looking,

  • do ya have to download this??? or is there a disc at frys???

  • @Kairy96 You can purchase Sony Vegas Movie Studio at Amazon for under $50. Probably find it at Frys as well.

  • Thank you! :)

  • wtf im 16 and im learning from an old guy.........................should be the other way around [for all you dummbies who didnt get the joke]

  • man stop calling him grandpa >:(

  • @UltimateGokhan DATS GRANPA BILL!

  • @UltimateGokhan wtf his name was bill,i was meant Bill from L4D not this guy D:

  • thank you

  • What about the audio

  • @fisherwomen1515 To sync the sound with the speed change of the video, use use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • Thanks this worked a treat.

  • what version of sony vegas is this?

  • @mikebeau2013 8 nvm

  • @mikebeau2013 The above uses Sony Vegas Pro. For Sony Movie Studio, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @mikebeau2013 Sony vegas pro 8.0 lol XD says at the top on XP im guessing.

  • ty so much

  • Sunny Veygus

  • Hmmm, i have a problem. When I click velocity envelope, there is no green line, let alone a line at all. Help please?

  • Thank you very much :)

  • i almost FREAKED OUT

as I didn't found it xD

(because mine is german, because i speak german^^)

and ... whoa thanks for the video! :D

  • I want my video to run 10 times faster, but the velocity envelope only seems to increase the speed by max 3 times ?? Any ideas please most appreciated ??

  • @Snapper4298 Speed it up to the maximum, then render it as a new video clip. Then import that video clip into your project, and speed it up to the maximum again.

  • freaking awesome , thanks alot

  • thanks granpa :D

  • @hurricane659 ahahhahhahha

  • And how to do that with sound?

  • @legacycz To sync the sound with the speed change of the video, use use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill Well I know how to do that, but I need smooth slowing down. This is just hard jump to slow-mo, what I want is slowing down until the video stops for like five seconds. And to slow down the sound with the video. Like the old vinyl desks, when they slowly slowed down if something went wrong.

  • Thanks :)

  • thanks bill!

  • thnx dudeeeeeeeee!

  • thank you~!

  • my internet connection speed is only 100 - 200 kb per second

  • Does this work with Sony Vegas Movie Sudio 9?

  • @FallenEmpireFunFids For Movie Studio, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • THANKS

  • tnx man it means a lot :)

  • I have sony vegas 9 and when I want to speed up a clip or slow it down I just have to hold the control key and slide the clip either to the left or right. (if grabbed from the right and slid to the left is speeds the clip up and the inverse is true if slid to the right).

  • It doesnt speed up audio.

  • @Nigenolya If you want the sound to match the video, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • Comment removed

  • Is there any way to get it to go higher than 300%?

  • @ProjectCulverin Yes. Render the sped up portion, then import that section back into the project, and speed it up again.

  • @guerillabill genius :)

  • @guerillabill it takes so much time to render :<

  • This work on 10? I can t even tell cuz playback is pathetic on my machine here for some reason...

  • @ATCRyderX Yes, this works in Vegas Pro 10. If playback is pathetic, you may need a more powerful computer.

I use a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 64 bit, 12 Gig of Ram, Intel i7-820 processor, Nvidia video card with 1 Gig Ram, 3 1-tb hard drives, and editing is fast, and preview is smooth.

  • @guerillabill Well thats a beast. Im just running this on my 3-point-something Ghz P4 HT Dell 2GB RAM/1TB HD/ 256MB Graphics card. Everything is smooth as could be other than the playback - which is a big thing to go wrong =(. Never had any issues with Vegas when I had it on my Quad Core HP Laptop but I can't stand using Laptops personally.

  • In my Sony Vegas this line doesn't appear. Maybe i've pushed a button which let it disappear :S

Can someone help me out because I need this for a school project :)

    Thanks =)

  • @NinjaHiro94 The above technique is for Sony Vegas PRO. To see how to do it in Movie Studio, check out 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill Sorry I forgot to write that Sony Vegas "Pro 10"

Dit i bush a wrong button and than this line disappears?

  • @guerillabill I fixed my problem =)

    thanks =)

  • @NinjaHiro94 How did you fix it? I'm having the same exact problem and I'm using Vegas Pro 9.0.

  • How do you restore it back to defualt speed?

  • @TheBbeenn64 Hold down the ctrl key, and resize the clip until the jagged line above the clip turns straight. Or right click on the clip, choose media properties, and set the playback rate to 1.0

  • @guerillabill Thanks so much!

  • dont work,please help me!

  • @bumtaksi As shown in the video, hold down the CTRL key while stretching the video clip. If you don't hold down the CTRL key, it won't work.

  • @guerillabill thank you man,now it works.... :))

  • Thank You.

  • Great help cheers

  • Great Help ... Thanks...

  • How to go faster then 4x?

  • @BasikBrigade render the video, then import it back in, then apply speed change again.

  • @guerillabill k thanks, kinda ruins quality a little though

  • throwing a ball? wtf xD

  • thx

  • Ok thanks for your help

  • can i do this in sony vegas platinum 8?

  • @Andy2481 No, the above technique is for Vegas Pro only. But you can find an even easier method in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • Thanks!

  • how about sound?

  • @TheHorrorBeast If you want the sound to match the video, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • thank uuuuuuu

  • Thank you so much, sir! :)

  • Please help: Does this remove some of your frames when you slow down? (I want the full frame per second (FPS) Please answer!

  • @duerdum9 Speeding up or slowing down video does not change the frame rate of the rendered video.

  • @guerillabill my sound doesn't match the clip ? when I slow it down

  • @PUR3PS3GAMING If you want the sound to match the video, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill yeah I did I proberly has something to do with my computer power I started to be in sync with the video just a bit slow

  • nice catching ;)

  • i want the audio to follow my evelope, HOW??!!!

  • @editorstefan use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • he sounds like mr garrison

  • thank you so much for this video

  • You toss that die in the air like a pro

  • this helpes(: now I dont have a thirteen minute long vid :P

  • Thanks, man! No offence but for an elder, you know a TON! thanks again.

  • but can speed up audio?

  • thanks so much! :) faved and subbed.

  • Help me please I can't do it.. I am using the velocity thing and clikcing it but its not making the clip any faster???

  • @sawphiee use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • thanks , this helped a lot ! :)

  • wow thanks sir! i was trying too do this forever ;)

  • what about in movie studio? pls answer

  • @Wizard101Bros For movie studio, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill Thanks! I needed to know cause I use both Powerdirector and Vegas Movie Studio for my videos and I just couldnt hold the fact in that there was no speed up options. Love your videos I come to yours whenever i have a problem!

Btw thanks for the quick answer..

    ~Devin

  • hey there your tutorials are great, thank you! Im having a crisis, maybe you can help me? Im using a coloring that idk why but it slows down my video. it isnt in slow motion but it does make a difference on the way it was before. its like there's blur everytime there's movement in the video. and now some clips dont match the voiceovers and the transitions dont match the beat of the music the way they did before adding the coloring. any ideas?

  • @marylaura03 The slow down and blur is only going to be in the preview window, not in the rendered clip.

The cause is related to the speed of your computer, amount of RAM, format of the video (probably mp4 or mov), and the CPU load to preview live effects on mov or mp4 video.

You can resolve the problem by setting preview window to 'preview, auto', and eventually upgrading to a faster computer, or converting mov files to avi use cineform neoscene

  • @guerillabill whoa that explains a lot. I freaked out for nothing! when I rendered it, it was as if nothing happened! thank you so much anyway!

  • very informative thank you

  • Thx you are the best :)

  • how is your sony vegas running so fast, mine takes forever to preview a clip!

  • @vTmGFX I edit avi videos which are not cpu intensive. If you edit mp4/mov videos they require a fast CPU and a lot of RAM. Also, I have a fast computer and a 1024meg video card.

  • @vTmGFX As guerillabill said, you need a powerful CPU, lots of ram and a nice GPU.

    Even I lag sometimes and I have an i7 920QM, 4GB Ram DDR3 1033MHz and a M HD 5730.

  • In sony vegas 9 it's you hold in CTRL and then drag the videoclip to the right or left.

  • the sound dont follow

  • @jooohnxx If you want the sound to follow the change in speed, use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • Thanks , This really helped me alot !

  • Thank you sir!

  • Hi! I have Sony Vegas HD 10.0 (french version) and I don't have the option "Inset/Remove Envelope" how to speed up a video with my version of Sony??

  • @mimi115 The technique shown above works in all versions of Vegas Pro. If you have Vegas Movie Studio (any version), use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill sony vegas pro 10 doesnt have velocity thingy. i cant find it? any sugestions?

  • @Cloakedsphere Sony Vegas Pro does have the velocity envelope. Vegas Movie Studio does not. If you have Vegas Movie Studio (any version), use the method I show in my YouTube video, 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @Cloakedsphere it has

  • @sim007DK Sony vegas pro 10? No It Doesnt. If IT Does then tell me where to find it.

  • @Cloakedsphere you just hold the track and take the mouse up but there is a better way to do it in the new sony vegas i have a video showing you haw to get it "/watch?v=PNPKVyjvVjg"

  • my video wont play when i speed it past 100%

  • @TheMachinimanator That happens when videos are compressed with divx or xvid. Too much frame data removed by the compression.

  • thx

  • How do you get Sony Vegas

  • @DarknessWithenMe Find a free trial at the Sony site, or purchase from Amazon for $74.00

  • Thank you, Bill Myers, for this very informative video you just about saved my life haha and I love your voice as well.

  • do you know how to speed up pictures on sony vegas pro 9.0 ?

  • @TheKhmerRSTL Not sure what you are asking? Speed up pictures, as in photos?

  • @guerillabill Yess pictures as in photos.

  • @TheKhmerRSTL You can control the length of time the photos are on the timeline by changing the size of the photo event on the timeline. Or you can use pan & crop to add movement to the photo.
