@a6stringronin I'm not sure what the dimensions of an LP are anymore ;) If it helps, the interior dimensions of the main compartment of this bag is 11 1/2 inches wide by 14 1/2 inches deep
@docforven I'm not too familiar with the macbook pro, but if it's not much different than a 15" widescreen pc laptop, (which is what I have), it will fit and is carryable, but the flap will not close enough to latch. I've never had a problem transporting it in that condition though.
Great video, it was really helpful seening a hands-on demonstration of all the stuff it can hold. I've been looking for a bag that I can use as a purse that also has room for my Kindle and my Soon to arrive Kindle Fire. I ordered mine last night and it should be here around the 14th.
@ChocolatePiazza Glad to hear my review helped with your decision! I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as i do mine. Feel free to drop a line here letting me and everyone know if it works out for you, or if you have any problems!
I've been using this bag every day for a year and a half. Nothing... Its like brand new. Its only gone a bit darker now. (I've got the bright khaki one). I'm thinking about washing it, but I'm not sure how.
@pepomk123 Glad to hear you're getting great use out of your bag! As for cleaning, I've never done it myself, but I've heard that the best way to clean a canvas bag is spot cleaning with soap and water, getting a cloth damp and just a little soap on it and scrubbing. Personally, I'd just go with the weathered look, after all, it's usually the jeans with the holes and stains that cost the most at Hollister's!
Have you looked at the Amazon reviews? There seem to be a fair amount of complaints on the bag due to quality issues like loose threads, velcro pads and stitching coming off, handle breaking off, metal twist clasp/latch popping out, etc. I don't think there's a 1 year warranty either for the Rothco company to back it up. So I am hesitant to buy this thing even for a gift.
@puppyjoe69 I've been using my bag for over 2 years, DAILY. I've never had any of these problems, nor have I seen even a sign of anything like this happening with my bag. I tend to carry between ten and twelve pounds in it and other than a little wear of the canvas itself where I pointed out in my video, there is absolutely nothing going wrong with it at all.
@puppyjoe69 Beware of cheap imitation knock offs/fakes. There are some reviewers on amazon who claim this after ordering this same bag from different merchants on Amazon. They spot a large difference in quality, It seems like the most common tell-tale sign of the fake bag is terrible stitching among the many other things.
Thank you very much for this video, after looking at pictures of the bag I was on the fence about buying it, but you seem to carry almost the same amount of stuff as I plan on carrying with it.
Great video. I will probably be purchasing this to carry my 13.3 inch Macbook Pro. From the looks of it, it should fully close and snap with this sized computer in it. This was exactly the video I was looking for. I needed an overview of the pockets to know that it would hold my stuff.
This is a great video im grad you pointed out where you put your camera Because im now REALLY happy their is a perfect place to put my Flip Ultra with easy access . Thank you once again for posting this video its very informative.
Great reviews, thanks. I was very curious if you could easily carry a water bottle somewhere in the M-51? Other than perhaps the spacious main pocket. Thanks!
@Inconsequentiality Yes, there is! On the right-hand side of the bag as you face the front of it, there's a pocket that fits a 20 oz. water bottle perfetly. The flap over that secures the contents of that pocket was made just a little bit longer than necessary so that it would accomodate a water bottle. :)
@Inconsequentiality I carry a half liter bottle in the left pocket(the one with the net). It looks kinda tight, but once you try it youll see its the exact right size.
Thanks for the clear review. I am planning to buy this bag according to answer I will get. How do you protect the items under a heavy rain. Is there a cover that you can advice or is this bag weatherproof enough? Thanks in advance.
@mps974 I've personally never had a problem with anything getting wet in it, (usually netbook and paperwork) If I'm carrying my laptop (which is a 15.4" wide-screen) It does raise the flap up exposing it a little, I've just always made sure if it was raining that I kept it close to my body, shielding it as much as possible with my body. Exposure to light to moderate rain shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep aware of how you're carrying it. Good luck, hope you enjoy yours as I have!
@mps974 Another tip that might work for keeping items in your bag dry is to place the item in a small plastic bag prior to putting it in your field bag. That may help in the event that you find yourself in a heavy rain situation.
I plan to get one of these bags because it is the right size for what I need to carry, unless I can find something else that will work better for me.
I wanna get one for school i do haveto carry quite a bit. it fits in a normal cinch bag but i want a bag like this what would u say about it carrying like a binder and some notebooks and stuff??
I have it. The downfall is the strap and the small surface area to which it's attached to the rest of the bag. Strap is also narrow and when fully loaded it isn't the most comfortable, but it is a very well-built bag.
I watch your videos on the M 51 Engineer's bag.
I ordered mine & it arrived today. Mine is in Khaki. I can teal I will like this bag a LOT. 35.00 at amazon - THANK YOU for posting your video.....

thank you so much for the review! I wasn't really sure how large of a bag this was and seeing it "in person" makes my decision a bit easier!
