sometimes I like to use a handheld mic for interview. Can I plug in a dynamic (or condenser) mic to the Sony UWP-V1 Transmitter input (Mic and/or Line)?
The Sennheiser kit that Mark is using is capable of great audio. Unfortunately it sounds like that the unit has never been set-up properly for use with this camera. The clipping is shocking, which suggests either the sensitivity (Mic gain) of the transmitter and/or output level of the receiver were far too high.
my camcorder has no external mic option. What do you think about recording into my laptop using movie maker and then syncing the audio / video together.
This type of technique is done all the time and a great way to getting superior sound if done correctly. Check out the link for "Dual-System Sound" in the description to this clip (top right). Hope it helps. Cheers.
I'm an audio noob, I have a wireless mic and conneccted the reciever to input 1. But I can only set it to the left speaker while my camera mic on the right speaker. How can I make the wireless mic Stereo??? So it can be heard on the left and right. Thanks
Actually, this may not be a problem if you're importing the footage into an editing program. Simply delete the camera mic track and assign the external mic track to both channels. Another alternative is to use an adapter that splits to left and right inputs (goes between external mic and camera). For more on mic adapters, check out the link in the description of this clip (top right). Hope this helps!
As for the editing program, I use Imovie on the Mac and I don't think there's a feature that delete the camera mic, I try using final cut express too and if i try to delete the left side and put the right side ...it still gives me mono.
You need 1 transmitter/receiver set per mic. One solution for using two mics on a shoot is to use a field mixer. Check out our video "Videomaker - Using a Field Mixer" (the description for that clip has links to other excellent resources). Another possibility is to run one mic into the left audio input and the other into the right (this obviously only works if your camcorder has dedicated left/right inputs). This way you have more control while editing. Good luck!
persianpimp730, don't use words like "overmodulates" on YouTube, you'll get thumbs down for confusing the mouth breathers. Just like this comment will get thumbs down as well.
What about the video part? Are you recording audio and video seperate? or is the reciever plugged into your camcorder?

I JUST bought the Azden, it's TERRIBLE. I would be better off with my built in mic. I can't believe how bad it is.

@LegendaryBadass Totally agree. When I was a kid I tried the Azden one and it disappointed me and messed up a paid gig I had too.

That article was great thanks guys.

That would work, though syncing could take time to get right, i think if you're going for direct audio to MM you may as well send the video there too
sparkyprojects 2 years ago
@walshjp Another option is using a voice recorder and syncing the audio + video in post production

Your camcorder has a hot shoe so you can buy a Sony hot shoe microphone.

forgottenlimit, Videomaker is great for beginners, but if you haven't outgrown them after a while then maybe you need a less complicated hobby.
