I was at Naha 67 - 68 82nd FIS spent a lot of time in Namanui. I found when you got away from the GI bars and went to a real Okinawan places that the people where wonderful. I have fond memories. (a bit fuzzy i'm 63 now.)
Does anyone remember Jacks Stake House? if I'm remembering the name right..
I was stationed at the 585th Maint Co, 2nd log Command - Machinato Service Area - 1967-68. In my early daze there, I went to Naminoue alot. The Queenbee & Kokusai club were my fav's. I'm in Facebook - PM me thru here and I'll link you to my page. It has lots of photo's of Okinawa & Naminoue I took before I left in 10/67.
i HAVE A COPY OF THIS SONG. i BOUGHT IT IN OKINAWA IN 1969. iT GET A LOT OF PLAY WHEN MYSELF AND A FEW OKINAWA BUDDIES GET TOGETHER. sPENT 13 YEARS IN OKINAWA. MISS IT MORE THAN NY HOME TOWN.. sHELBY
Spent almost all of my free time in the Namanoui area. I remember the song well and felt an attachment to the people there that lasts even to this day. I tryed to teturn but could not afford to go back. I would love to go back to Namanoui one more time. God Bless and Thank You for the trip in time

The song on the jukebox in your video, "ROAD TO NAMANUI" (a misspelling of "Naminoue") was recorded by Mr. Ronnie Fray and his band in Okinawa in about 1968 or 1969. Mr. Fray was very popular entertainer in the clubs in Okinawa during that time period. He still entertains and records in Canada and Michigan USA. He would be happy to know that his song is still played on the jukeboxes in Okinawa.
