I have the most success at blackjack when I don't bother to keep track of the count. I just simply pay attention for hands that have a huge concentration of low cards (or high cards), and make my decisions from that. Counting cards is not that effective because one can get the same information alot easier. The shoe is either hot or not. It's simple.
@dmed312 I generally play with a similar stradegy... i take hits according to the way you're talking about, and I also start at playing the table minimum bet, everytime i win, great, everytime i loose, i doubly my bet... with this stradegy plus paying attention to whats been delt, I seem to do well more often than losing. I'd say I probably with 4 outa 5 times that I go to play using these stradegies...
you got 16 vs 10 all wrong. The fear that you might bust with a +, big card is the exact same chance the dealer has a big card in the hole. The hope of getting a small card with - is the exact same chance the dealer has a small card in the hole. So although it is correct to stay if+ and hit if -. A much more better effective way to play this hand is...well somethings are best kept a secret. but +/- is not a good method. A better +- ex. would be 12 vs 4, a very close hand unbeknownst to most.

Once you have let's say a +3 true count do you change the basic strategy and play the cards different or do you just change the amount you're betting?
As an example, if you're dealt 15 and the house has an 8 showing you would normally hit. But if the count was +3 would that make you change the Hit to a Stand? Or would the +3 just mean that now it's time to bet higher?

Go to a busy table and start counting before you sit down and play, that means you can go into a game when its, say +10 and start betting. Whereas if you just jump in without counting before you play the count could be like -20 :/ you're always gonna lose big then
@blackjacksv I believe the point is that, given that number, you can decide what the rest of the deck is mostly made up of. For example, if you count what you've seen, and come up with +4 with one deck, then you can say that there are quite a few ten point cards left-- and therefore you have a better guess at whether or not you or the dealer will go bust, get a blackjack, etc. And on with more complicated strategy and whatever.

I have the most success at blackjack when I don't bother to keep track of the count. I just simply pay attention for hands that have a huge concentration of low cards (or high cards), and make my decisions from that. Counting cards is not that effective because one can get the same information alot easier. The shoe is either hot or not. It's simple.

@dmed312 I generally play with a similar stradegy... i take hits according to the way you're talking about, and I also start at playing the table minimum bet, everytime i win, great, everytime i loose, i doubly my bet... with this stradegy plus paying attention to whats been delt, I seem to do well more often than losing. I'd say I probably with 4 outa 5 times that I go to play using these stradegies...

you got 16 vs 10 all wrong. The fear that you might bust with a +, big card is the exact same chance the dealer has a big card in the hole. The hope of getting a small card with - is the exact same chance the dealer has a small card in the hole. So although it is correct to stay if+ and hit if -. A much more better effective way to play this hand is...well somethings are best kept a secret. but +/- is not a good method. A better +- ex. would be 12 vs 4, a very close hand unbeknownst to most.

Ok I'm having a hard time finding this answer.
Once you have let's say a +3 true count do you change the basic strategy and play the cards different or do you just change the amount you're betting?
As an example, if you're dealt 15 and the house has an 8 showing you would normally hit. But if the count was +3 would that make you change the Hit to a Stand? Or would the +3 just mean that now it's time to bet higher?

@jsdptenis did you just jump in and start playing? if so you made a wrong decision. Go to a busy table and start counting before you sit down and play, that means you can go into a game when its, say +10 and start betting. Whereas if you just jump in without counting before you play the count could be like -20 :/ you're always gonna lose big then

@blackjacksv I believe the point is that, given that number, you can decide what the rest of the deck is mostly made up of. For example, if you count what you've seen, and come up with +4 with one deck, then you can say that there are quite a few ten point cards left-- and therefore you have a better guess at whether or not you or the dealer will go bust, get a blackjack, etc. And on with more complicated strategy and whatever.
