@EurasianWolves I would say there is a good chance compared to many places, but you may or may not be lucky enough to spot some. I saw wolves about 8 different times during the course of that summer, mid-June through early September.
@mlizarr104 In general, they aren't aggressive. I had a rifle along the river portion, and had no firearm or bear spray on the rest of the trip. I did follow the usual bear safety guidelines to minimize the risk.
You're amazing. That would be a dream come true for me, but I'd like to do it with at least one other person, I'd be too scared of all those wolves on my own!
Wow, this looks like it the adventure of a lifetime. I also hiked the AT, saw you did on your website. I also used AquaMira on the AT and it was the BEST for water purification. So light, no taste, easy to use without the hassle of heavy pumps or cleaning, or iodine that loses it's power over time. Also the trash compactor bag. Mine lasted me my whole trip too. I was 3 years in AK too and hiked up around Fairbanks. Even better hikes then the AT for sure. Thanks for sharing your trip!
@clifftonjohnson This was the only trip I've brought a solar panel on, and it worked well. I've got a list of all the gear I've used, linked from the web page under "more info"
For most of the trip I was unarmed, and didn't carry bear spray. It was a judgment call. From my research there has been only three fatal bear attacks in the Brooks Range in recorded history. In certain areas of the state, or had I not been walking so far, I would have at least carried bear spray.
I'm 25 yrs old and think this was the best trip EVER and congratulate you for pulling it off! I'd love to do a trip like this if only I didn't have to WALK alot... I don't have the best knees anymore thanks to playing 3 sports my whole life heh... Maybe I would ride a grizzly's back? LOL
You are an inspiration thats for sure. An amazing feat to say the least. How beautiful the true wilderness is. I hope it will stay that way forever. keep safe. Jet over and out
Looks like a great adventure and got quite a few great shots of the wildlife! I might be going to alaska in the summer of 2010, but i'm not going to go as far North as u did.
Wow your the luckiest person on the face of the planet, im sixteen and this has been my dream for the past five years, i have been researching for years to find the most beautiful route though alaska and today i think i found the one im going to take, thanks for the video, ill never forget it!
I love alaskan wilderness and I would like to walk across alaska to the coast of alaska that's what I would do when I visit alaska but also I would like to be a permanent resident in alaska it is so beatifull and breathtaking.
hey that is wonderful....what are your thoughts on a simular adventure on horse back? not just any horse but like a mustang out of montana or wyoming i seen ware the goverment culls the herd and adopts them out.cant live for ever and thats living
Glad you liked it! I think it would be a tough trip on horses, but it's a good thought. People use horses for shorter trips in Alaska and it often works out well.
Hey that was an very cool video, was that you. I have always wanted to do something like that, one of those once in a life time things. Anyway great video and i hope to see more.
I'm a very impressed Alaskan! Only a handful of people would attempt such an extreme journey and make it...High Five!

I am looking into going here to view wolves, would that be worth it? Is there a high chance of seeing wolves would you say?

Hope to see BC or Alaska one day...with a camera, riffel, but not alone.
Maby also by horseback...
Keep up the good work. Must be quite an experience...
