This is one of the first Hot Water Music songs I heard. It will always be amazing to me. The lyrics "Caution, the solid ground that you are on will slide from under you," are some of the most intense I've ever heard. This is only one of two live renditions of this song on youtube, so everyone cherish the hell out of it.
so i've been trying to figure this song out and something just isn't quite right. do they play in standard tuning? and does the song open up in an A octave?
pretty much. I saw them a bunc of times, but the Drunken Chris is remember most was in fall of 2002. It was a place in Gville that used to be another venue, and shortly before HWM went on, I ran into Chris at the bar, and mentioned how much I used to love The Covered Dish. He proceed to repeatedly poke me in the chest, and go on a drunken rant about how another venue in town sucked, and they were taking rock and roll back for the kids, or something like that.
Ahahah sounds pretty classic, the thing abotu Chriss was when i saw him playing in the Draft during the tour over heard with the Bouncing Souls was that he was really drunk but he was able to play so well.
I really wish i discovered HWM sooner so i couldve seen them, woe is me :(
that same night, he also started to play a different song than the rest of the band for half the set, and had to be told to stop and play the right one.
Yeah, I saw them in Orlando a couple of weeks ago at the reunion show and Chris came out to sing a song with Samiam. He could barely stand up. He would stagger to the mic and sing along, then close his eyes and drift around stage like a drunken ghost. It was pretty crazy. After that he came out and played the most intense 25 song set I've ever seen, and the guy could barely stand. I couldn't believe it.
