  • Hi there mate, I am looking for a job similar to desktop support specialist in this vid. the only embaressing part is that I have no clue how to fix apart projectors or printers... just computers... any advice would be truly appreciated

  • @AntCFCPerkz

don,t worry too much about printers .. most of the companies are going towards network printers and the big ones have thr own techs to work on parts.. but u need to know the basic of how to configure network printer , finding ip address and troublshooting ,,, most of the time you will just unplug and plug it back that fix 80 % .. get an old printer ... ..

  • @DANDesktopsupport

open it apart ..go online and check what other people are saying about the models and problems .. you won,t be dealing too much about printers projecter .. but you to know how to connect them to pc laptops and all .

  • Thanks, that helped! Nice job!

  • Hi, great video..i'm starting a new job soon, deskside support engineer, its a 6 week project basically replacing hardware for a company, there will 3 others on my team for the project but i'm not really sure what to expect, do you know what the procedure is for such a project? i I have no hands on IT working experience just qualifications and i'm petrified i won't know what i'm doing!!!! if any help would be greatly appreciated :)

  • @bedhead46

This is good project to learn and also to have some thing hands on your resume .

try to learn about imaging process . Learn about ghost , clonzilla , fog before you do hardware change. make sure you store the images in safe place because your goin to need to all the time.

learn about your new hardware ahead go through the manual for known problems or some thing new that they are offering .

work with ur team member try to gain information from them , write it down

  • @DANDesktopsupport

Also learn online and do lots of testing on ur virtual pc this is the best way to learn

  • My husband has completed his Cisco CCNA and has applied for many jobs but is having no luck. Most of the jobs require many years of experience which he does not have at the moment. How is somebody supposed to get a job in IT if they don't even get the chance to prove themselves!!!!

  • @MahaMakeup

Hi maha it depends on the states your husband is living. for example in Washington dc thr many IT jobs but most of them require clearance and a lot of experience , but if you try in Maryland they don,t require a lot of experience.

Cisco is a good field and more money but its limited . for example a company will need a cisco tech once a while as compare to desktop or IT tech they are required every day to help employees out and do trouble shooting.
