There was really no need for any sequels, the whole point of Rocky is that he puts his entire career and livelihood on the line for one shot at the title. After the beating he took from Apollo he realistically was in no condition to ever fight again.

What i like about the fight is that by the start of Round 2, Rocky's nose is already broken and he looks like he's about to give up, but some words were exchanged in the middle of the round when the both of them were in a hold, and it pissed Rocky off, which turned the battle on. I can't make out what was said. Anyone know???

Apollo won on points, but he was out on his feet. Another 10 seconds and he'd have been knocked out. Great movie.

I personally hate this fight. They show the first two rounds which are well choreographed then they skip to round 7 show a little bit of fighting then skip to round 13 and show the rest of the fight. They build this fight up through out the movie then show us hardly anything. The reason I love Rocky II so much is because they show the entire fight we actually get to see what happened during the fight unlike in this one

@Dpal93 Agreed, even though this was the best of the six movies this was the worst of the fights because of how much was skipped. As unrealistic as Rocky vs. Drago was, at least we saw much of what happened there too.

This was a beautifully choreographed fight scene. Rocky was Stallone's finest hour and one of the greatest movies ever made. Carl Weathers deserves respect for his vastly underrated boxing skills. What a stinging left jab!

Lot of people cite the first Rambo as Stallone's finest film but for me the first Rocky was Stallone's Citizen Kane. And he wrote it too, One of the most uplifting films ever.
