@bassguitarkeybordwiz Not true. When you make a turkey sandwich, you end up with a delicious turkey sandwich. When you compare bands, you get no sandwich and start a meaningless apples-to-oranges discussion.
I love how everyone here thinks musical tastes are some sort of dick measuring contest. Who cares if CM or DT is better, or that they are stylistically similar? I enjoy and listen to both, and quite frankly I have better things to do with my time than compare them and berate anyone who disagrees with my conclusions. Grow up and listen to what you like and leave everyone else the hell alone.
DT can suck a dick because James Labrie isn't anywhere close to as good as Michael Eriksen. Sure the style sounds similar, but i prefer Circus Maximus to DT any day.
@TheBanyanEmperor come on, they are good, but they aren't better than DT, the compositions and the armonies in DT songs are unmatchable. I like Circus Maximus too, but I dont compare them
@JaVSnIpEr This is cleaner, better produced, better tone.... They use nearly the EXACT same ideas that are found in Dream Theater songs....it's criminal, really....but they do play it better. I don't understand how you aren't hearing this.
Maybe you're saying that DT orders these EXACT same ideas in a different order and that's more pleasing....I won't argue with that, but it's the actual playing that I am referring to.
@TheBanyanEmperor Not to complain but I qould never compare them, not at all at skills. They are all masters of the class. Although the thing is that Petrucci is Petrucci and I hardly believe Mats doesn't play that well live.
Yet, this song is just too awesome not to be noticed.
There are alot prog metal bands out there with DT as main influence but id say this is something else.. i prefer this so much over bands like symphonyX and that kinda stuff
These morons are such a bad copy of Dream Theater. Circus Maxinoobs can't create their own style nor write epic songs LOL! they are pathetic... And even worse their fans who talk shit to the actual fathers of this crappy band.
great one of the top acts in prog metal aewsomw singer. i been waiting for there new album forever now and im giving up on it . it was supposed to be released in september 2010 whats the hold up heez!!!!!! come on guys!!!!!
two things...DT is still "this" progressive as well as "can make a song that is progressive and heavy at the same time." DT are the Kings and always will be. however, this song is outstanding as is circus maximus and they are just as important going forward in this genre as any band. but this composition would not have been imaginable if it weren't for DTs earlier songwriting.
I THINK The Dance of Eternity was the inspiration to write this song, but it's my opinion, because Sane no more has some ideas of TDoE. But this song is great as TDoE.
i love all ther songs there very talented and it shows!!!playing the circus maximus in my killer car system for my nephew with the jl audio 10 in ch sub and a ppi pc 6600 amp with diamond audio speakers and a hifonics us made amp to the woofer .i blew us out of monte carlofor an hour.the circus maximus has killer sound and it just slams bass.
DANGER, If you a fan of odd time signatures and powered progressions this song is THE ! EMBODIMENT of progressive music. Just listing to the first 3 seconds is worth it. Oh progressive music how I adore thee
:) Mats' musical ability on guitar is so incredible. The reationship between the keyboard and the guitar in this song is enough to make a grown man cry.
Hum...I've been listening to this song more and am really enjoying everytime. This song has been stuck in my head. Progressive metal is kinda funny because it's almost impossible to remember it in your head though because it's everywhere and its complexity. It makes you need to listen to it :)
