  • He doesn't really come across as angry...

  • What proof does he need? What better proof can we have other than being alive? They should have had a discussion before they got married.

  • @lavinder11

How do you get from "we are alive" to "therefor there must be a god"? By evidence, I think he means a valid, logical, rational reason to believe in god. I've never heard of one. Throw me one, and I bet I can find a logical fallacy in it.

  • @rsgirl10

It's all faith, to me. There is no "logical" proof (logic is just a man-made concept) of any deities, just like there is no logical proof they don't exist. It all boils down to how much of the unknown a person is comfortable with accepting. Because honestly, ALL of it is unknown, no matter how many theories we create based on observation.

The "we're alive" thing is complicated. Point is we have no control, therefore some"one" or thing else has it. It ain't us unless it's suicide.

  • @lavinder11 Once you can logically and scientifically prove that there's an entity that created the universe, then you can write a report on your findings and submit it for peer review to the NSF (assuming you're American), and we'll let your fellow researchers go over your results and try to replicate them in their own independent studies.

If you can't do that, then you have no business asserting that there's a celestial creature responsible for our creation, as opposed to the big bang.

  • @InvertedHorizon

The big bang is a theory, just like any other. Too many people place science on a high pedestal. I am a chemist, by the way, and I do not claim any religion. What people forget is that numbers, words, etc are arbitrary markings to describe our world, much like religion.

In science, proof of "something" means nothing. All one can do is disprove the other in favor or your own theory. So to you, if you can disprove the existence of a creative "creature," then go ahead.

  • @lavinder11 Your being a chemist has no bearing on whether or not you're thinking logically and scientifically, which obviously you're not.

If an individual is going to claim that there is a divine entity responsible for the beginning of the universe, then it rests solely upon them to provide evidence for their case. It's not the job of the unbeliever to provide evidence for their disbelief. You've got your burden of proof in reverse in that sense.

  • @lavinder11 The big bang is a theory, just like the theory of gravity, and just like the germ theory of disease. I don't claim any religion either, and that's why I'm an atheist. Atheism is the rejection of the existence of deities not because "atheists believe there's no God and here's why ... ," but because the evidence in favor of the existence of an omnipotent creator is non-existent. What does lie upon me, in this case, is explaining the evidence and reason behind the big bang theory.

  • @lavinder11 As for that, the first and greatest observable phenomena which provides evidence in favor of the big bang theory is the fact that we see, using the doppler effect, that all galaxies in the observable universe seem to be moving away from a central point. This universal galactic drift shows that if you were to go back in time, everything would eventually be concentrated at one central spot, condensed by gravity into a hot, dense singularity.

  • @InvertedHorizon

You're right. My profession has no bearing on this convo. However, less thoughtful "atheists" tend to ask me that question, so I was threw it out there.

A logical and "scientific" conclusion to come to is that no theory (scientific or no) can answer all questions.

As for who proves what, it goes both ways. The only thing is, I didn't ask you to prove anything to me. The logical conclusion is that we will never agree because this is an issue of belief, not science.

  • @lavinder11 Since you seem intelligent enough, I'll return the respect and adjust my tone to end with a final thought, and let you take it as you will. Science exists to explain reality. Since the beginning of the universe is part of reality, it stands to reason that it's entirely explainable through the scientific processes which have always served us so well. All questions about reality can be answered through science. It is only a matter of time. Ending with time, thank you for yours.

  • @InvertedHorizon

And don't tell me what my business is or isn't. You have your beliefs, I have mine.

  • The woman is an idiot.. she obviously wants to brainwash her kids into believing in a whole lot of religious bullshit rather than just letting them make up their own minds when they're old enough whether they want to believe in superstitious nonsense or have a view based on common sense, evidence and reason.

  • obviously the Christian lady dosen't know the teachings of Jesus very well and she is also playing "god" she would be better looking at her own moral inventory and leave her husband to his...Iam sure they will both be judged separately by the god she believes in...

  • @opendtuning

Actually, God tells us not to yolk ourselves with non-believers for ''What do the righteous have in common with the wicked?''. Of course a Christian CAN marry a non-Christian. But she or he will have a lot of explaining to do when God asks why they did not listen to Him when He made this issue clear. Since the whole point of a Christian marriage is to keep Christ as the leader of that bond. Marriage is very important to God. He wants his children to be married correctly.

  • @MangekyouEyes interesting comment since God's own chosen people do not believe Jesus to be the "Son of God"...what would you say if this woman in the video was married to a Jew???

  • @opendtuning

I myself am of Jewish origin. And I most certainly do believe in the Son of God. So please do not rush to conclusions like that. It does not reflect reality as a whole.

  • @MangekyouEyes would it make any difference if she was married to a Samarian?

  • @MangekyouEyes Actually god doesn't tell us anything... he's not real.

  • I lol'd when Dr Phil mentioned about the angry atheist, vegetarian husband.

  • Let your children believe whatever the hell they want to.

  • @emmarosemc Tell that to my parents!

  • there is no way a marriage will work if you dont have the same faith. eventually it will be a big problem

  • OMG! I'm an atheist and a vegetarian! That's weird lmao

  • The choice may have been wrong, but its possible to make it right

  • @laharvey125 thats what he said, werent you listening?

  • There's no opposition between the Bible and science. He should visit Answers in Genesis and DrDino. DNA, a language, a code system, cannot create itself.

  • Science is lying to itself and everyone else with macro evolution.

  • get divorced... your kids and you dont know each other at all.

  • MOM WHATS MY DADDY'S NAME? uhhhhhhhh lol

  • i love you

  • Love you 2 , honey

  • The husband looks drugged
