Great tutorial. A lot of tutorials just go like 'YOU HAFTA MASTURR DURR URRBLAST' But this one actually covers optimizing damage, leading targets, and does a fine job at it. Hats off to you.
Excellent tutorial. Many others seem to focus on the airblast and unlocks. Though this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it is important to understand the fundamentals as well. I was happy to find a tutorial that covered the Flamethrower's mechanics. Looking forward to the next installment(s).
I've played Pyro for years and decided at some point it would be the class I truly learned. I could play Engineer or Medic or Heavy or what have you when my team needs me but I prefer Pyro and this video has shown me some of the background to the why's and what's I was developing over time. I'm less interested in being the best than I am in having fun but this video was very interesting and I look forward to future installments.
Awesome tutorial, I subbed. Pretty in-depth and fairly explanatory. I have played my share of Pyro too, but I'm not so good. Maybe your tuts will help, I want to play pyro like he should be played...
Great tutorial! As many of the ppl commenting, I have played my share of Pyro but still learned the finer strategies of the Pyro..TY...burn you later!
My only complaint is give more time to read the text, some of it goes by a bit too fast for some. I reccommend reading aloud and then seeing how long it took to read, then divide that time roughly in half.
So if it took me about 30 seconds to read something aloud, make it about 15 seconds, and so on.
@watsyurdeal Again, huge thanks. Your tutorials were my main inspiration, ahead of even Magnetro's W+M2 videos. I'll work on making the text stay longer next time--your tip should come in handy.
@marengofeo same here i don't have as many hours as you somthing like 180 or 200 idk( ive reset stats several times i always feel it shoulda reflectied but it never does, however i do reflect rockets but at a 30 to 40% rate
After all the hundreds of hours spent searching for decent pyro tutorials, this one is the one that shines. Excuse me for saying so, but as a (personally) skilled local pyro (I haven't met a match in the pyros of my country), this beats even Magnetro2k's pyro tutorial. Every single other pyro tutorial doesn't say much, if at all, about the basics and flamethrower mechanics, and when and how to use what, only what does what. Congrats.
@thejimz1 Flamethrower mechanics are influenced by current forward momentum, so stopping your movement mid burning while moving forward extends your flamethrower's reach at that moment,
@KenonArtulii Oh, okay. I'm familiar with that, but I left detailed breakdowns of the particle system for the particle video, which was linked in the aim section. I thought it might be a complex technique I didn't know about yet.
@thejimz1 Right, I always just thought of it as a natural extension of momentum into simulated physics, much in the same way strafing imparts the speed of your strafe onto your particles, keeping them aligned with an enemy who is also strafing.
@thejimz1 Basically, if you run backward while firing, the flames goes further than running foward. Doing the same thing while running foward do the exact inverse. For me it work like charm for killing enemy Pyros chasing me, or at least dissuate them from doing so.
