Thanks, Mr. Doane, from someone whose love of music was encouraged and fostered through the Halifax City school system in the 70's and 80's. I remember playing my uke in the Metro Centre with hundreds of other kids (remember "I believe in music... I believe in love", lol?).
I wish my son had the same opportunity in school that I had. Thanks so much again! :)
I find it sad to be reminded that there was a time when there was such excitement about music programs in the schools, before the bean-counters took over. Fortunately, I'm old enough to have benefited from that kind of excitement. Kudos to those musicians like Mr Doane who were and are so eager to share their passion.
Boy, that takes me back. This must be a year or two after I left the group. That's sure the Mr. Doane I remember, though he hasn't really changed much. I count a couple of Doane nieces and nephews in there too, Margaret and John. Is Melanie there?
Hey C. I've been looking for this stuff for years. I'm the guy on the left with the uke in the front row. You play drums on a few tunes with us when we went ISME in '77. Do you know if the "Ben's Happy-Buns" commercial or any of the CBC shows that we did still survive? It would be great to see some of that.
You provided an immeasurable amount of good works to the youth of Canada with your programs. I just bought an old Northern JCD2 to play in your honor. Can you tell me anything about the ukulele design you created and the models that were released? I'd love to know the history of my new uke! Thank you! Alan
This is a very cool video. Thanks for sharing.
If you'd like, send a YouTube message to me for some help syncing the audio and the video back together.
