@marquis0r No and Yes. The emulators have to be PowerPC compatible and the PS3 has what amounts to a Nvidia Geforce 7800GT for it's GPU, in theory you could install drivers for such and any emulators should work perfectly.

My mistake. YellowDog Linux uses the Linux framebuffer for graphics. The developers aren't allowed access to the graphics card but either way, the PS3 has such little RAM that using Linux on it can be a chore.

Yes you can play your ps3 game after installing linux just have to hold down the power button of the PS3 5 second just as soon your heard a second bip and your on the original PS3 OS for your game

when it says kboot, just press enter. then it will start the installer. it may tell you that it cant find something and needs to redo the partition table, just press yes ( it will only take the 10gb partition dont worry) and it will install.

Linux doesn't do it - to install Linux you need to backup your PS3 and use the System menu to repartition it with space for the Linux install. Then you just re-load the PS3 data on using the System menu again.

It works pretty well.

Because that would be much cooler or more interesting, besides you can emulate on playstation 1 and 2 "being if you have a mod chip that is".

Linux isn't harder to learn than Windows, but it's definitely different. The only big problem is that there's poor (or even no) hardware-support from a few vendors, but the ps3 runs fine as you can see in the video.

For the ps3, I'd recommend either Yellow Dog or Ubuntu Linux (on PCs, just Ubuntu).

also as it's linux you're not even confined to just the ps3 pad - any usb thingy that has linux drivers will work. you can get 360 pad drivers for it, too, if you don't have enough ps3 pads :)

yes the ps3 is powerfull enough to emulate the snes easily. theres just a few minor problems with the sound. i should know becasue i also have this installed on my ps3. and yes you can use the ps3 controller as well as many other pads for the pc. a freind of mine has a different version of snes9x on his ps3 and he said his sound is perfect, so im still trying to figure the sound issue, so i hope this answers a few of your questions.

A nice tip, you can just type a few letters of the file name in the terminal and then press "tab", and then it will automatically guess which file you want. If it guesses wrong, just keep pressing tab until the right name appears.
