  • Quick! INHALE!

  • Explosion?

  • this is why if you eber work with stage/theater lighting you know to never leave any finger prints on the bulbs... the oils from your finger prints heats up and causes a temperature difference in the glass - this temperature difference couases the bulb to crack- the crack lets air in and pretty much causes the bulb to implode...or explode if it is filled with a gas (most lightbulbs are - its cheaper that creating a vacum)

  • if a light bulb is lit, wait till it gets hot then spray it with a squirt bottle. KABOOM!!!!!

  • No? Turn on a lightbulb and leave it there until it's burning hot, the put freezing cold water on it. It'll pop.

Keep in mind this is a heat lamp, so the explosion here is more drastic.

  • idiot

  • are you serious?? the videos that lucidmovement do are legit. look at their other ones! what the hell??

  • if so, then what is that BROKEN GLASS flying off at the end?

  • wrong

  • oooooooooooh :D

  • Now it puts out better light!

  • LOL when i was a kid i liked dripping water on hot light bulbs in the washroom and it sizzled and stuff then i tried cold water and it popped and burned out it was funny

  • oo shiny ô.O

  • You should do football kick in slowmo

  • not slow enough :s

  • hibees

  • this is one sexy explosion

  • Cool Video!!!

  • Very cool, next time use gasoline, but do it safe ffs! (i would do it, but don't have high speed cam...)

  • i did that before when i spayed some water on a 100wort lightbulb to see if it will bubble and it exploded two inches away from my eye

  • thats exactly what i did!!!!. my comment is down there

  • did u ever think she was a girl? thats why she talkin bout dicks

  • the end looks like a pot of magma...key

  • imagine ur in your room an that happens...

  • it has =)

  • dude. i did that on purpose, with one little drop of water. i wanted to see how fast it would evaporate (what a dumbass i was). it sizled (dont correct me on this one) for one second then blew up and i had to turn the other lamp to see what the fuck had just happened. Good times...

  • y did it blow up?

  • That is the most retarded question ever...

Water is cold, the bulb is hot...

    USE YOUR BRAIN

  • why the hell did i get a thumbs down?

It's not my fault he's retarded and doesn't know what happens to a material when you rapidly cool it from a heated state or viceversa >.>

    god dammit ppl are stupid...

  • You got a thumbs down because it was not the most retarded question ever. That was, however, the most unkind statement on this page.

  • yes it is...

anyone with eyes AND a brain can see why it exploded...

  • @parrudo77 i did that too

  • @parrudo77 AHAHA!!!! omfg thats awesome. a single drop of water made it explode in ur face? dude ur whole comment is fkin funny i cant stop laughing.

  • @jffry890 well it actually makes sense - the drop of water cooled one side of the glass down creating tensions in the glass which it couldn't withstand and then it broke.

I know i'm a nerd no need to tell me.

  • @Falconoflife ya i understand the science but i never imagined a single drop of water would do it. but being that a lightbulb is so brittle i can see why.

  • in 00:30 the fire /fog looks like a woman XD

  • and shes got really weird boobs

  • lol it does

  • oh yeh

  • rofl it does

  • u all on crack or something...

  • haha, good eye.

  • yeah i did the same thing but i did it with a lava lamp :) little did i remember that extreme temperature change causes stuff to explode hehe

yeah a huge chunk of glass missed my head and hit the wall behind me :)

  • thank goodness!

  • lol i did the same thing

  • oh well u got lucky u jackass lol. you forget these things somtimes and then u rememebr but to late lol.

  • uh nice way to burn your house down

  • this reminds me of mr.wizard

  • 532 fps??? DANG THATS A GOOD CAMERA! I want one XD

  • what blew it up though, at 2 sec, there was stuuf flying over the top

  • it was water

  • awsome

  • you made the light brighter =P

  • you know, I think putting "fake" on random videos is the new thing. I should start!

no, just kidding.. I just really hate the retards who do *cough*

  • I was just kidding, and referring to Mr LizzyAston McRetardface.

  • Yes, i better learn to well read. Sory

  • looks like a drum with gas

  • haha

  • What causes lightbulbs to explode??

  • Pure oxygen, under pressure inside the bulb coupled with the heat from the filament. pretty wild.

  • uh, no, light bulbes are under a vacuum so the filament doesn't oxidize(burn). he overheated it, and sprayed water on it.

  • they're usually filled with a noble gas, because it is hard to maintain a true vacuum in the bulb. but yes, it is inert, and yes, it is low pressure, so that it won't oxidize.

  • Pure oxygen would be the worst thing to put in a lightbulb... or very close the worst. As Ariedartin says, lightbulbs have unreactive gas at low pressure inside, so that when they heat up and the gas expands they don't explode (because the inside pressure still isn't too high).

What caused the bulb to explode was the jet of cold water, which would happen with any very hot glass... or ceramics etc

  • Fuckin smart ass

  • yea i think in haligens like this one they put nitrogen

  • and their isnt oxygen in their thats like one of the worst things to put in a bulb since its highly flamible

  • it's not vacuum there's argon inside cause it's a noble gas so it stops the carbon filaments from melting/overheating cause argon is a poor conductor of heat

  • lol sry i use "vaccum" loosely to decribe area lacking oxygen.

  • no low presure and not oxygen high presure oxygen is on of the worst thing to put in their

  • I got into a fight with my mother, ended up throwing water on her, and the lightbulb next to her exploded and Cut half of her index finger off :S

  • Holy shit

  • Are freaking serious? Hahahah i love you if you are!

  • i also found that out... but with the spray on my iron...

  • that was totaly wicked!

  • hapend to me a couple times

  • you just throw water on it and it blows up

    ????

  • Yeah it contains a very thin glass wall, Conducts alot of heat, Large Filament, The cold shock on the hot glass causes it to shatter

  • yeah, i found that out with a squirt gun when i was about ten, lol

  • FIRE!

  • There should be a warning label on this that says, "Don't try this at home..." lol...looks awesome though

  • im definetly gonna try that ..

  • pretty neat :)

  • nice
