for some reason, mine isn't working out. I was trying the circle and it isn't coming out in a straight line. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Hey again, I'm back. I just had to do a gradient gold rope around a military emblem and I declaire I wish I could have figured out how to repeat that silly shape somehow. I tried all your ways (as best as I could) and I couldnt figure it out.The gold rope piece wouldnt repeat in the right spot. So I finally just did each lil piece with the pen tool. what about you doing that in a video?
