Texas's announcer, Ken Roberts, died last week at the age of 99. Invision Game Show Board says that he announced this show; it was the last soap opera he did. Tony Roberts, the stage actor, is his son.
Hey I just noticed you posted that this theme debuts in Set. 1981..that means we are almost there as AOL is up to August 81 eps. Fantastic. I have to say at this point Texas is getting better and better with every episode released, and I read ahead some of the synposes and great storylines are coming up soon. Man I love this show :)
One concern though, Paige is in flannel, what did they do to her?...lol
This version of the Texas theme debuted in episode 294,which aired on Sept,28 1981.
Since AOL is now up to ep268,which aired on August,21 1981 we are getting close to that point. With 3 episodes posted every week,I estimate that ep294 will be up during the first week of September.
Yeah this theme is much better, much more sweeping and powerful and I like how it emphasises the rich lyfestyle, however, I do think that when BM left the show,it would have been nice if the last face on the clip before the star fade would have been Reena or even Justin, not Ricki, but maybe he was a big draw to the show then, I really don't remember. Nice to see Ruby, Vivien, Kate, and Lurlene in the opening as well, but many of the other faces are unfamiliar to me.
I can remember this theme song forever. I have played it in my mind a million times. I never missed an episode of texas. ruby was my favorite character and lurlene. I still remember the time they prowled in a neighbors apartment and when she came home they hid in the closet and the time they got arrested and ruby posed for her mug shots. What a hoot they made the show after iris bid farewell. Rena dekker was the stronghold. Texas. A treasure
YES It's been decades since I've heard the music but I've always hummed it from time to time....there's something about it....not sure what but it draws me to it...the sense of power i guess.....at any rate, I too have never forgotten it.

Thanks Chuck for both scenes with the late Dody Goodman. Any chance you can add her name to the "tags" for both clips?

This song was later used in the Citicorp Commercials.

I like this theme better than the original.

I loved it so much better than the original. It really represented the type of theme song a show named "Texas" should have had to begin with.
