@targetcxd Do you have the new album yet? The studio version is quite a bit different than the live versions up here on YouTube. I'm not sure which I like better. Well, actually I like Jessica solo on guitar best, no matter what, just like I used to see her, in a little tavern where she wasn't old enough to order a beer yet. Jessica unplugged. The one exception is the tune "I Can't Lie to You, Love" which just blazes with an incredible lead electric guitar. The new CD is great by the way.
she needs a big hug and a kiss, i''m sure she has a lot of offers for that, but i love her even though i do not know her for real but i bet if i was to see her and hugged her she would take in my love, and i could simply enjoy her for the moment
Is there some kind of post-punk-newage-popart-country style of music forming? The Avett brothers have re-invented themselves as a fok country punk pop band. I can't tell what they are exactly. It's like Johnny Cash meets Greenday and along the way they ran into The Crannberries and The Pixies. I wonder if this new generation of kids who love their western roots perhaps have just now discovered the clash or even Joy Division and it's having an unexpected influence.?
I wouldn't say western roots. I'd say it's more southern. The Avett brothers are from the town next to me in North Carolina and Jessica tours with them. You've also got old crow medecine show who shares a similiar sound and is becoming wildly popular. Even some bigger rock bands like the black keys bring out their delta blues, old southern style music. I think people are just tired of this pop crap on the radio and ready for some real music.
Is the "south" a figurative place? Those were the southern states which were part of the civil war right? If thats right, then does that mean that there is a definite cultural difference today between two adjacent states that were fighting against each other in the past? This must be what they call "southern culture." Is Texas considered "the south" cultural wise, or was it not yet a state during the civil war? I'd like to learn more about these southern roots. I like the Avett brothers too.
@confuser69 I don't think you would consider Texas part or "the south" Even though became a state before the war and joined the Confederates during the war, its has a very different culture and history. Ohio is definitely Yankee territory, but is sure does have alot of good "southern music" coming out of it these days.
you obviously dont know she comes from a bluegrass background where monotone is the standard, dynamics are simple volume swells and emphasis is on over all emotion not catchy choruses
love it when she sings with that southern twang.....is she from the south? this chick is something special. would love to hear her sing with Amos Lee.
saww her live tonight and she was amazing, met her afterwards and she was like... the sweetest person i've ever met in my life, i had nothing to say but you could see it in her face... i dono, just one of those people. it was intense, totally recommend seeing her live, duh.
understatement to the point that congressional measures should be taken to determine a proper punishment. So skilled and such a wonderful writer. I'm not supposed to like this but inexplicably i do?

The song on the album sounds like it has background music from a kids videogame. I dont get it? It sounds so bad.
pauisnow 10 months ago
@pauisnow Agree. This version sounds o much better! I want to like the album version but all the fake instrumentals took of the soul from it.
antneon 9 months ago
@pauisnow Yeah, not a huge fan of that electro-pop sound in this track on the album. Still, it's one of my favorite albums of the year so far.

Chittlin' writes a happy song! What's the world coming to?
OK, OK, it's Jessica Lea Mayfield now. Not little Chittlin' anymore.
This song is beautiful. This will be a big hit when it makes it to... vinyl? We have to update that expression. What are CD's made out of?
