genius recently has been screwing up for me, anyone else having problems? it used to make a perfect playlist for the song i wanted, a pop punk band "with the punches" and it used to create it perfectly within the subgenre called easycore with about 90% of the songs being in that subgenre, but now, the same song will give me only one other band of the subgenre and about 20% of the playlist is that genre with only those two bands, on top of that it puts in john mellencamp, what is going on??
The Genius feature only works for songs that are _listed!_ in the iTunes store. You don't need to buy/bought them from itunes as long as the title is available. Only songs listed or from the store work with Genius. If you e.g. record some music by yourself or simply did not name a .mp3 properly, iTunes won't be able to "search for matches" by using Genius.
Genius is a service provided by Apple that tries to match up songs to eachother. You choose a song that you like atm and Genius tries to find other songs in your library that fit well to the song you're listening to.
If you just choose shuffle, you could end up by hearing hard rock after a classic tune. Genius transmits your playlist to Apple (all not just the bought ones) and they send a match-chart back to your iTunes-Genius.
genius sucks dude it doesnt recognize most of the music like rock and hip-hop only 80's (ONLY THE MOST FAMOUS) dude if you listen to LP it wont recognize em neither slipknot i love apple but they should have a bigger collection
so did you have "live your life from T.I. feat Rihanna" i have it in itunes but when i activate Genius then it says that this song isn´t aviable for this song.
so my question is this for all NEW songs or why does this come. I have some new song try to use genius but : it istn´t aviable for these songs:!!!!!!
i have a question whenever i download this it deletes cox internet off of our computer and we have to restore the computer to get it back but when we do this it deletes itunes 8 and puts back the new on can someone please help!
Usually iTunes isn't supposed to delete anything by itself. It may set itself to be the default player for various audio and video files. It also may update Quicktime and some library files on your computer. I don't know what the cox software does to your computer when installed, but i'm pretty sure it's still there after an iTunes installation. Can you describe that problem further?
ok i will we download it and everything is fine untill it says that we dont have the right programs or something and then it continues and when i open itunes its fine until i try to update my itouch. then it says that you must be connected to the internet so i open internet explorer and it says that it cant find the server thenwhen i searched the files for cox i could not find it so i had to completely restore the computer and now i cant even use my old itunes because of some wierd problem.

My computer kept asking me if I wanted to upgrade so i decided to, but now whenever I try to get to my itunes it says that it requires quicktime. I already have that, but just to be safe I downloaded the newest version of that but it still says that i need it. Any thoughts? Has this happened to you?
Back up the folder iTunes keeps the music in. Usually a special folder in "My documents" (check the size and subfolders of that "iTunes Music" folder to be sure your music is really in it.
UNINSTALL iTunes AND quicktime.
REBOOT
DOWNLOAD & INSTALL the newest version of iTunes (QT included)
START iTunes and don't let it search for music, QUIT it right after you clicked through the dialog boxes.
OVERWRITE the iTunes-Music folder in your "my documents" with your backup from earlier!

This New Itunes is very very SUCKSS!!! No good at all. Once you Download it. It will Erase All Your Contact. So DO NOT DOWNLOAD the new Itunes, IF you Did.. You will Be Sorry
Yes, it looks like an iTunes Store account is required to use GENIUS. Despite the fact that Apple states the transmitted data (your tracklist) is being handled anonymously.
