1:22...LOVE when he goes to start the Sha na Ohs and the crowd is already so loud he is taken back...remember being there this night and how much this song brought the house down...Vivino plays a hell of guitar in one of the best duals I've seen Bruce in (20+shows)...always loved the Xmas shows, they were special
i have just discover this song and I love it! The version I like the most is the one that come as a bonus with the dvd on the making of Born to run... The Boss for ever!
Does anyone know - FOR CERTAIN - whose deep voice says "Baby's Back" in this performance (at about 6:53)? It sounds like Clarence but I'm assuming it's not him since the backup back here is the MMW7, right? (I didn't see any shots of him playing either which would be unheard of if he was performing.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I think I must be a full Bruce tragic. How much fun in that song.Personally, I can't think of a bad song (by Bruce). Sometimes my fav album is Tom Joad. It's all good. Come to Australia again Bruce.
There's potty mouth for ya. Keep your name calling to yourself Joshua or continue to embarrass yourself.
First, I was referring to the beginning of the song. Secondly, go read about the background of this song and what led Springsteen to write it...then you will change your name to "mynamesdouchebag"
If you can suggest a credible source for the background of this song, I'd appreciate it. (I checked Wikipedia but there was no information listed.) I really enjoy the song and would love to learn the story behind it (since that will make the lyrics that much more personal). Thanks!
The was a sexploitation film in the early 70s called THUNDERCRACK. RAMROD was another cheapie film that gave Bruce a title. Of course THUNDER ROAD was a film title, but that was a step above Thundercrack and Ramrod, in that it was a "B" movie.
Thanks! DO you have any factual information on whose deep, bass voice says "Baby's Back" in this performance (at about 6:53)? I posted a question about that six+ months ago and no one seems to know. I doubt it is Clarence since Bruce's backup for this performance was the MMW7. Any ideas?
i played an sg in the late 60's-early 70's...while they're not great, i didn't find them "crappy." i would reserve THAT evaluation for the basic (unmodified) telecaster.
He IS playing this on the 2007-2008 tour. Can't swear it's at every show, but it was done in the two I saw (Continental Arena & Madison Square Garden) in October 07.
This is the bes tvideo ever posted. Setting the history of the song aside, the dualing leads with Bobby B are worth the price of admission. ...All Night
even them dance hall hacks from the west side of the tracks move in close to catch her timing... the dignity he gives women is unreal. I hope people understand this

i agree sergi, it's awesome when the crowd starts singing.
the best part of this song is the intro. never can get enough of when he cries out "thundercrack" and the drums kick in.

As I recall Bruce wisely decided to leave this off "Born to Run." Max's band performs well, but the song is not one of Bruce's best.

I know your kidding! Right?
moocow117 4 years ago
Moocow, I'm a big Bruce fan but even I must admit that about half of his songs are weak. Thundercrack is one of them.

Never, he has a handfull of bad songs, and for the amount of songs he has wrote, that is amazing.
