I studied British English, but most films I watch are Americans, then my English got mixed. I want to separate them. I like British accent a lot more, but I'm able to speak the American too. Besides, by separating in details my accent and writing, I believe I can improve my just started teaching career.

Fact: British English has SIX extra vowel sounds that are unique to British English. Look in the back of the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary and you'll see the IPA chart with the various UK and US vowel sounds.

I have always found my accent very annoying (Filipino accent) since many of my friends are foreigners. After listening to this video (and practicing) for a month, my friends were surprised on how my accent had developed into a neutral accent so quickly! I always feel extremly rude when I tell an Indian person I can't understand their acent, though I'v got better now. It feals horible to say to someone on the phone you can't understand their acent, I hate having to do it. It's easier now becuse I got a little use to the way they say things and I can understand most of what they say.

You will be surprise to hears those from north east india, manipur, manipur, mizoram, nagaland. they sound totally different and you will never recognize where they from. Especially the Hmar tribe who has the same English alphabet like the british. But their english are more closer to British as they were train and teach by British. They do not look like black Indian either, but close to chinese, mongolian Asian. Try listening to them. mizo rap youtube

Pretty sure the majority of Indians I listen do don't talk all that much faster than anyone else. The real speed speakers are the hispanics and some asians (japanese). They talk crazy fast!
