  • Thank you for sharing this. It has done a lot to help me understand what someone close to me is going through.

  • Fuck sounds like me.. I can't take prednisone anymore tho made my pancreas ache. So now i take Asacol, it helps here and there. But marijuana is my preferred drug, helps with all the pain and stress it causes me. I'm 20 now and was diagnosed at 17

  • I agree start reading about the SCD diet. Ensure, Campbell's Chicken soup, and French Dips are all no-nos for Chron's and Ulcerative Colitis patients alike. I lived like this guy for 5 weeks on my couch during this last flare. I'd hate to live the next 15 years of my life like that.

  • oh and I'm 20 now and am living pain-free away at college on my way to getting my doctorate. I know exactly what you were talking about with not feeling like a total man because of being too weak to perform like you used too. I'm lucky enough now to be able to work out and have some muscle and strength. Also, thank you for your service, my brother is also a marine.

  • Hey man, Truly strong story, but there is something that needs to happen. You have to start to read. Put down the remote (at least for a little bit) and pick up as much literature on Chohns, UC, and IBS as you can. You're still young enough to have a full and amazing life without pain. I was diagnosed when I was 10 and finally started reading up on the subject at 14. I've read at least a dozen books but found Jordan Rubin's Restoring Your Digestive Health to be the most important book I've read.

  • Holy crap Sam, I'm listening to your story a second time right now, it's like my exact same life being told to me in so, so many ways. Exactly, never used my bed, my parents were my life support. Dude we are brothers from another mother in so many ways. But I found how marijuana was a miracle drug for my crohn's. I hope you are still here, if so hit my home page and I'd love to call and talk with you. Seriously do it, I'd love to tell you how I now am living a crohn's dream life.

  • Hey brother im screaming in pain Crohn's disease i have termmenal illdeitis im 48

  • im 16 and was diagnosed when i was 13.

  • Thanks for your eye-opening video into the life of a Crohn's patient! It's a "hidden" illness because patients are unable to stay social and become isolated from friends and family. I find most people can't understand. Thanks again! Laura : )

  • I am 18 i have chrons and i was diagnosed when i was 7 years old.

  • I'm 19 I was diagnosed when I was 13

  • Silly question, I probably have crohns, I'm 38. Is it not possible to have the colon out and have a colostomy bag rather than put up with this, awful disease.

  • I have Cronh's Disease as well. I'm 15 years old and I was diagnosed June of 2009. It's been a long hull, but I'm starting to work things out.

I've discovered that I can't eat really Spicy things or Curry.

  • @lexpop7 I am also 14 and i have diarrhoea sometime 2-3 times a week tops. I get abdominal pains when this happens but sometimes its not always diarrhoea and its normal but i still have pain. This doesn't effect my life too much but i think i may have crohn's disease . I havent seen a doctor or told anyone i think this. Please reply to me if you think i may have this disease.

  • @TylerJWainwright u may need to go see ur pediatrician first thats what i had to do when i was 6 but first i had mononucleosis i went to pediatrician and he told me to go to a gastroenterologist

  • Just been diagnosed with this, though mine seems mild compared with what some people have to put up with.

  • @AstronomyGeek13

    thank you

  • today i was diagnosed with it and i'm 15 i have a Question does the pain and stuff go down with the right diet and pills or some type of work out so i could a lest stand and remain standing without going thought a gut attack

  • I have same thing. and my life is not that limited at all ! I do normal things everyday. I just drink damn much and eat little more carefully than i did before.

  • Sam, I hope you can find peace and comfort in the midst of your pain and suffering.

  • Hello, oh how I relate to everything you're going thru. I've had Crohns disease for many years now and have had 2 bowel resections and numerous other surgeries, intestinal blockage, nausea, vomiting, diarreah....handfuls of meds for meal and steriods! ug...don't forget the smelly diarreah, its distinctive smell sickens me. But my precious dog doesn't care and comforts me.

I did find something that has turned my life around completly!

  • Once I changed my diet,no wheat, gluten, corn, dairy! I began to heal and feel better, but I must be very careful as nearly everything contains wheat and gluten.

Take Methyl B12 sublingual every day, is far superior to injected Cyano B12! Don't have the ups & downs fatigue if I take Methylcobalamin, a godsend!

    blessings to all who suffer

  • I so feel your pain both mentally and phsycally.. i too have Crohns which to be honest is ruining my life...but one positive is you know who your true friends are as not many people stick around to understand the disease xxx sending love and friendship Tigi x

  • I totally understand you. I'm 17, was diagnosed when I was 16 and a half. This disease is terrible. I'm struggling to find the right treatment. I've had countless drugs and even more crazy side effects with them. I heard in London they are developing a vaccine, maybe that will lead to a cure... Or one day through stem cell research, medical scientists may be able to grow entire new organs to replace out diseased ones. Unless you have this disease, you can not understand what it is like

  • My wife has had Crohns for almost 40 years. She has not given up in the way you have. We (my son and I) very nearly lost her to complications with a temporay ileostomy in the mid 90s. I can empathize with you.. but you do need to be the source of your own strength.

FWIW, Debbi and I have been married for over 35 years.... our son is 22 (2010). It has been one hell of a ride!!!!

  • Brother, hang in there. Have you ever thought about trying the SCD Diet? It's helped many..

  • crohn's runs in my fam ive had it bad for years im 21 and already it runs my life doctors dont have the first clue what theyre doin

  • I've had Crohn's disease since I was 10 years old, I am now 36 years old. I've been on many anti-flam meds such as asacol, pentasa and prednisone.

I had a bowel resection in Jan of '07, and they removed nearly three feet of my small bowel including the illeum. I am current;y on SSD, as I can not work due to my symptoms.

Life has been a mess for me, and my family too. God bless those out there that are dealing with this painful and very dibilitating disease.

  • there is no cure only remission. I have not been diagnosed but im in pain every day. Im 20 years old and i can barely function. it sux

  • i feel your pain! definatly an evil disease

  • i just found out today that i have Crohn's disease i have been on many sites most things i read are scary i have only mild pain not everyday and i don't have the diarrhea only once a week i can go they are also doing test right now as to why they took some blood test today to i hope in the next few days ill know i have appointment on the 12th to see the Gastroenterology Clinic hope no more bad news

  • I was thinking it was the VEGAN DIET that cures crohn's disease. It might have been the GERSON THERAPY that cures crohn's disease but the GERSON THERAPY is based on a mostly VEGAN DIET along with supplements, juicing, coffee enemas etc. Sorry if I got that mixed up.

  • A vegan diet can CURE crohn's disease and give you your life back.

  • i have crohns disease iv suffered badly for 4 years, been threw all medication there is,found infliximab which i have infused into me.unfortunalty its not workin after 3 years, now lookin to start on humira which is a self injection, people dont realise how much it effects & changes ur life, the pain is unreal, im on dihydrocodeine for pain and morphine when needed.

i have a group on face book if any one wishes to join called... People With Or Know SomeOne Suffering With Crohns Disease

  • semper fi brother! your no ex marine you still are a marine just like me...i got medically discharged oct. 1st, 2009 becuz i was diagnosed with crohns and been in the hospital almost ever since and livin on iv's and jp drains in my stomach at home. the va isnt helping me out cuz i only had 135 days of active service and you have to have 180 to get the benefits and my insurance just ran out so things have been stressful cuz i have to get 10 in. removed inside. my mos was 3531 motor t, wuts urs?

  • I was diagnosed this past December and I'm 16. I'm currently on prednisone and remicade. The remicade has been doubled in dose and it doesn't help at all, and I go through heavy fits of depression with the prednisone. I'm allergic to just about all of the othe rmedications prescribed and some of them just make it worse. Sucks a lot of people just don't understand this disease and would rather prescribe horrible meds, than a natural plant.

  • I have Crohn's and thankfully my crohn's have been in remission for 3 years. I still take medicine (Cimzia) and to me, I like it better than the Remicade treatments. Cimzia is only taken through 2 shots every 28 days. I was diagnosed at age 16 and now I'm 21. I am really blessed to live a normal life without the pain that I had been through. I have a 10 month old daughter and my husband is in the Marine Corps. I met him when I had an ileostomy. (Sh*t Bag). I am currently looking for a cure.

  • I have crohn's and the meds im taking are prednisone pentasa prevacaid and phlorastor i rwally hate the prednison the most though because of it's side effects i just diagnosed with crohns and it really sucks i hate having side pain stoumach pain and diarreha

  • poor dude

  • Keep fighting Sam, we crohns feel ya!

  • i hate crohns disease ... is it rare for me to have it cause im only 12

  • its actually not as rare as you expect, i got mine when i was 13, now i'm 15

  • I got it when i was 8

  • i have crohns disease and im 15 its a very horrible illness, im currently on a very strong intrevenious drug called infliximab or otherwise known as remicade i have it every 8 weeks at the hospital. im currently improving lots though and its all thanks to this drug ! sorry if i bored you just thought i'd tell my story :) x

  • GreenCross is a good place to start but there are many ways to find a Dr in your area.

  • I have have crohn's and got so sick of the drugs, I stoped taking them. I started smoking marijuana and my quality of life has gone straight UP. I got a Dr to write me a note and there is a place to get it near my house and im not breaking any laws. I hope you get to stop taking all of the pills thats not living.

  • Does that help with the pain/cramping ect.... atpuck? if so, where do you get a dr to give that to you?

  • Same here...I was on Prednisone, Asacol, Remicade, and (now prescribed) Humira...just to name a few. I don't know about the rest of you but the meds were making me feel just as bad as the Crohn's. Even though Cannabis is illegal (no medical allowance in my state), I smoke it anyway because it does help with the pain/inflammation and the general feeling of misery that Crohn's causes.

I'm considered to be committing a crime because I smoke a plant instead of taking Big Pharma's garbage drugs.

  • The Specific Carb Diet...try it!

My daughter was out of school 7 weeks this past Spring with Crohn's. After 3 weeks on the diet she was completely cured!! She must stay on the diet for at least a year. It's tough but sooo worth it!! Google "SCD Diet Main". If you really want to get better and are willing to do the work eating this way you can get your life back!!

I cook for 6 people this way.You CAN'T drink Ensure!! It was so bad for my daughter. You'll learn why. Read, learn, get well!!

  • Hey, I'm sorry, you're going through this. I know your pain and everyone else's. I have Crohn's Disease as well. If I may give some advice about the food. Try to avoid food that has MSG in it because I was told that it makes the disease worse. I only eat Organic Foods now and I also take Primal Defense. Try to be cautious with the drugs too. They can treat the disease, but attack other parts of your body. I would recommend Primal Defense.

  • Hi, My name is Jon McLeod. I have Crohn's also so i know what you are going through....but I have no family or anyone at all to help me, I gotta work full time, no choice...it's pure torture man...you are lucky to have good parents like that..God bless them

  • Hi Sam, I just wanted to wish you luck and let you know that I will say a prayer for you! My husband is 32 and has had Crohn's for over 10 years now. He has had many horrible side effects and surgeries and we both know what you're going through. I'm really sorry that you don't have many visitors. I imagine that gets really lonely. Good luck and I hope things improve for you! Keep fighting and never give up! Danyeil

  • I wish you the best.

  • Hey Sam. John here reaching out from FL. You are not alone brother. I was diagnosed in 1973 when I was 7. Diet IS the hardest. For alittle change try a bit of Miso soup. Can be found in most asian sections of the grocery store or even ordered online. Over time you add certain grains and beans (one being an Adzuki bean-highest protein bean out there) to the soup to make it more filling. I am not a doctor or salesman..just watch my crohns diet video to see what I mean, and good luck my friend.

  • Oh my gosh, your video is so true to what I am also suffering, I would like to talk to you, I've only been going through this 6 years, but it's so hard, I am on prednisone now and I get remicade treatments and Imuran and had a colon resection about a month ago, I feel that we should talk.

  • Don't have surgery because once you do you can probably forget about those eggs(unless you eat just egg whites).

  • wow this is like how i am.. I'm 15 years old Washington state. Diagnosed a year ago but have been having symptoms for about 4. Prednizone helps but I just hate how it changes me. I am going to try some new medication in 4 days I really hope it works.

  • there is hope.i am 19 years old from jamaica and i have had crohn's for the last 4 years.the disease can be treated effectively and possibly cured by diet.look up the specific carbohydrate diet.its what you eat that affects your symptoms.prednisone makes me feel sick more than anything else so i stopped taking all meds good luck.

  • Hi I have had Crohn's for 40 years- Go to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. That is where Crohn's was discovered- by Dr.Burrell Crohn's. You want to get off prednisone. Perhaps you need surgery to remove the infected part of the intestine.

  • That IS a lot of medication. I was diagnosed with Crohn's and now the Navy is trying to give me an Admin seperation vs medical. No idea how that works. Keep strong and keep praying for a cure!

  • You should give remicade or humira a try, both of these drugs have helped my a lot (if you haven't tried them already)

  • i am 19 yrs old living with crohn's disease.. I was diagnosed with it when i was 14. It is a terrible horrible disease, i have been on predizone , i have tried humira and remicade. they DID the job they worked for about a yr.. then my body grew amune to them and resisted it... i'm terribley sick again, and doctors say there isnt much hope.. so sadly i have to plan a wedding my wedding and pray to god i dont ruin my pretty white dress
